My Thoughts On... Medal of Honor: Rising Sun 

The orchestral music sped up sounds like some thing out of an old cartoon.

So, in short: This game is a broken, tiresome piece of shit.

I honestly forgot about this game back when it came out.

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm the guy who pestered DW about this game. I kept arguing with him and badgering him about the game to the point where his patience(understandably) ran out. I'm really sorry DW for being that much of a nuisance and preventing you from reviewing the game, and I would like to say I'm sorry to the viewers who would've loved to have seen his review of the game. If you're angry about the fact that it's not a review, don't direct it at DW but at me.

I used to play this game on the PS2... Which is probably one of the worst FPS games I've ever played on that console. I'd honestly much rather play Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines or Fugitive Hunter: War on Terror than Rising Sun.

this game was the first game me and my dad played together on the ps2 it was also the first time I heard of Japan

I honestly had more fun with Doom 3 than I did with this game...

I remember playing this game on the PS2. Yeah, there's a reason why I never talk about my middle school days...

Also quick fact, only about 6 or 12 Japanese planes were killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor, not 100 player kills.

Loved the bot matches and 4player split screen this game had, and even though the gameplay was bad, it was fun, the level design, was actually fantastic, each locale, felt like it's locales..set pieces were meh, but hearing the guns blaze, while going threw a Burmese gold mine, with a friend or 3! Was awesome to say the least, aswell as the last mission on the japense aircraft carrier, felt surperb nontheless.

A first-person shooter where the shooting is the worst aspect of the game? That's quite an impressive accomplishment... Of incompetence.

I thought this was a great game for its time as well as frontline. The game was fun i remember beating the game and getting all the film canisters to watch the veteran content. I was really good at the game too but I feel that because most modern games have ADS and this game didn’t it takes time to get used to. I do feel the game seemed rushed but it was fun. It wasn’t total trash in my humble opinion.

Jeez, I don't understand what's your problem with Medal of honor games. Not only are they fantastic war games but they have amazing soundtracks to back them up (including Rising sun). I mean literally one of your complaints about this game is that the soundtrack is just "generic WW2 music" and it could've been asian inspired. I don't know if you muted the music or something but a bunch of the tracks specifically use asian instruments to make it sound unique. Many of them have this really Japanese vibe to them. You can't miss it. You know that just proves you want to hate on these games and bash them for no reason.

Even when I was a dumb naive 11 year old when I first played this, everything felt like a step down from frontline, and I guess the only reason why I liked frontline back then was because I haven't played anything like it back then, all the shooters I played before were doom 1 and 2, wolfenstein 3d and I think that was it, but of course I played return to castle wolfenstein after the medal of honor games.

i enjoyed this game when i was 6 and played it with my next door neighbor. never could go back and enjoy it

This game definitely sucks, but Frontline is pretty good imo. The level design in that games is miles better

This looks like one of the stiff and clunkiest FPS game on the PS2. I thought the system had smoother shooter games than this.

I see the AI attended Imperial Sniper School. With AI that useless is there a point in playing the game, maybe you could challenge yourself pacifist speedrunning from checkpoint to checkpoint. 1 view, 1 like, 3 comments. Well done youtube.

I'd say even at the time I think I had liked Frontline more than this one, not b/c Frontline is a good game but b/c Rising Sun felt so short that it feels like it ends before much of anything really happens. Now this is not to say Frontline is a good game either, it's just the first and only MOH game I had played at the time. Plus, while I would not say either is a good game by any means, I will at least give them credit that they got me interested enough in the franchise that I went on to Allied Assault and its expansion Breakthrough, although I never played Spearhead. Looking at them now and even in the PS3 gen when EA combined an "HD remaster" of Frontline with MOH 2010, I'm kind of glad I never went back to them. As far as Pacific Assault, it took me a while to even bother getting through, but once I got through the last mission I was so frustrated, and to an extent disappointed, that I immediately just uninstalled the game. That is still another story and it's not the only problem I had with it, but I just bring that up b/c that's probably one of the few if not the only time I've ever done that with a PC game.

Like Frontline was for Saving Private Ryan, it’s pretty obvious EA made Rising Sun as a gameified version of that really disrespectful Michael Bay movie better known as Pearl Harbor. Main difference is Saving Private Ryan is a masterpiece and Pearl Harbor was a cringy love story using WW2 as set dressing. Not to mention it was historically inaccurate and outright disrespectful to the people who lived through those events. Gotta admit the attack sequence was very impressive for the time even if some of the CGI bits haven’t particularly aged well.

I remember watching sweet TV ads for this back in the day and being so freakin' jealous and sad I couldn't afford PS2. I still want to pick it up, now that I own the system, but after this video... not so much anymore.

To be honest, i don't like this game that much either but it was a decent attempt at bringing the Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal etc. to console.

I know it's a MTO, but If you have score this game, what it will be?

I am a huge MOH fan, but I fucking hate this game. The levels are meandering and pointless and the Guadalcanal level is virtually impossible because it is set in pitch-black dark. Due to my MOH fandom, I have tried to revisit this one on several occasions over the years, but I just come away feeling furious that I wasted my time on such a horrific experience.

are you going to review the outlast series at some point?

I'm not going to defend Rising Sun, but really, you have to say bad things about Frontline?! Hey die hard fans are watching!

I have a little nostalgia for this game but honestly it’s just ok nothing special it’s cheap to buy now so I don’t recommend buying it tho I’m not against buying it either frankly I’m indifferent to this game it’s not awful but it’s uninspired and basic it’s an ok game tho it’s boring and nothing special

Pacific Assault may very well be one of the most boring FPS games i've ever had to play... used to love the first 2-3 levels as kid, then i realized it was all the same, all the same settings, the same level design, the same boring objectives, everything about it became boring. To think that in the same year United Offensive for Call of Duty and Unreal Tournament 2004 came out...

oh, the textures do look better on the xbox version, on the ps2 the game looks worse than frontline, but frontline looks great for a 2002 fps on the ps2 I think, but yeah they've aged so badly as games.

Honestly, I've seen people play this on PS2 emulator and it's a lot better. At least it's more playable being at 60+ fps.

Played this today on the OG Xbox. It’s okay, typical getting lost having to look every where to progress. Graphics really look pretty bad even if it was a ps2 game most Xbox games look better.

Well I heard ps2 version for rising sun got amazing reward at the time and Xbox review are mix-negative while ps2 version are very positive. you should try the ps2 version of rising sun. I remember I got kill by AI a lot or sometimes. I don’t remember though. Though the melee is dumb asf

Eh I enjoyed the game.

Complaining about graphics on ps2 or ps1 is kinda of a mute point. During this era the graphics are decent.

Have you tried cutting down the resolution of the game on 360 like 780p or 480p?
