My thoughts on MGS Master Collection Vol .2? 

The bigger issue is that the devs behind it, Silicone Knights, have been disbanded for quite some time now

@@ScorchtheHawk I had no idea the creators of Legacy of Kain were the guys who developed Twin Snakes. That said, I'm 100% sure that's not going to be a problem. Silicon Knights were the devs, sure, but they were only hired to implement stuff. Kojima Productions, Konami and Nintendo held all the rights. And even if they weren't, with Silicon Knights 100% dead, they wouldn't even be a thought in that discussion.

The Mistake Twin Snakes made was they pasted the mgs2 engine on MGS1 without thinking deeply how it would affect the gameplay. The boss fights were messed up and the level of detail that was found in mgs1 was pretty much gone. I don't like Kojima for what he did to the mgs series starting with mgs2,4 and 5 but he brings a level of detail to his games that other developers don't bring to the table.

Same here I played metal gear solid 1 about two times and I beat the game with Meryls ending and the second time Otacons ending to get the stealth cameo.

@@gaiden4567 i can never get meryls ending because i suck at button mashing. I can on twin snakes but the original mgs? Nah. Could never beat peace walker either because of the strangelove interrogation.

Don't worry you can do it with Meryls ending Just hit that button fast. You can do it. I believe you can.

Otocon’s ending is better imo, Meryl’s feels forced.

Issue with twin snakes is that Nintendo has the rights to it, and they’re SUPER stingy with releasing the rights that they have. Chances are, *if* TTS goes in Vol 2 of the MC, it’d be a switch/switch 2 exclusive thing

Twin Snakes was developed with active involvement from Nintendo as it was developed by one of their second-party studios at the time, it's likely that there is a legal loophole to go through even if Konami did publish it, since it was developed and likely funded by Nintendo

Peacwalker was one of the best games available for the PSP when it initially released man, really good game. Slightly different to the mainline games in a sense its like a mission based MGS5 with some base management.

@@withinuk That's the reason I was never able to play Peace Walker, because my big brother never had a PSP. Since it was really expensive to bring it to my country. A similar experience I had with the Peace Walker gameplay, Was MGSV. But to be honest... Peace Walker has a lot more of gameplay than V. I really want to play it nowadays in my pc and hopefully, we got it the next year with the release of mgs3 remake.

I hope the online mode for mgs4 and peace walker comebacks

Peace Walker runs perfectly on rpcs3, if you have a ps3 controller you can give it a try

Peace walker is awesome, especially on vita or ps3 really feels like mgsv before mgsv

metal gear solid mobile from the nokia N-gage would be an absolute win for everyone. hardly anyone played it and it would be awesome to have it playable. plus acid games are a great change of pace and ghost babel would freaking amazing as well. time will tell. twin snakes would be another great addition also.

Yep I've got it on the PS5 and each game runs completely flawlessly. It's exactly like the originals that I owned back in the day. I can possibly see it having issues with running on the Switch, maybe. Although the switch runs other PS2 games perfectly fine, I know because I own quite a few of them and also owned the originals back in the PS2 days, so I dunno. Some engines are just tricky to emulate, for whatever reason, and so the system you're playing it on needs to have a certain amount of redundant power to brute force it into running correctly. Which is why emulating, say, original Xbox games, is difficult, despite more powerful consoles being very easily emulated on the same hardware. So maybe the switch just can't handle this particular engine, even though it handles stuff like Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 4 just fine. I was considering buying the collection a 2nd time for the Switch, so I can play on the go and when visiting family, as well as when I'm at home on the PS5. I'd have to start over again with certain challenges, like I'm trying to get every single dog tag on every single difficulty in MGS 2. But I love the game so much that I don't really care.

Perhaps, but "Duel Mode" on MGS3 could've & should've been added. There's no "F" ing excuse for that. Snake Eater already lacked some kind of practice mode, like the Virtual Missions on MGS2 Substance, yet those I understand were added in the release of the game, unlike the PS3 HD Collection. Anyways, it wouldn't have killed Konami to add "Duel Mode" for MGS# Subsistence. Having a Mode where you can just fight the Bosses is fun, at least for me and Konami dropped the ball on that feature. Perhaps Konami can add it in with an update.

Xbox players have it good with mgs games now. Getting the remake of 3 too. None of that ps exclusive jibberish. Just time for mgs4 to makes it way. The series X could run that game like butter.

Vol. 2 Could have MGS4, PW and V with maybe some kind of cut content (extra camos, more secondary missions and even episode 51 added back in the game) and the bonus content could be portable ops and ac¡d, maybe. The only thing that probably concerns everybody is having MGS4 on modern platforms, who knows, maybe konami could reach out to the RPCS3 team to figure out some kind of polished emulation without crashes or visual bugs and glitches, at the very end of the day, RPCS3 is open source.

@@Evile_7780 While I do like the idea of cut content being there, V still will be unreasonably taking place of other games as I mentioned in the main comment. It's alreadyeasily accessible on the modern devices, no point for it to be in master collection.

MGRR isn't available on PS4/PS5/Switch

If 5’s included in Vol 2, it’d probably be based on the 360 port of it for the switch variant. Twin Snakes is an issue since Nintendo owns the rights to it (hence things like the Mario+Yoshi Easter eggs, or the GC in Otacon’s lab), and they’re super fuckin stingy abt their rights

@@Roboblt They could alternate the Nintendo cameos to the 3rd Party consoles while keep it at the Nintendo Switch version for Twin Snakes since I know that Tales of Symphonia did alternate the GameCube stone to the Sony Logo Stone in the Sony Console ports. Also, I did mentioned about Metal Gear Solid V games for Vol. 2 since I don't think it would work since Metal Gear Solid V games was already on PC, PS4, and Xbox One since the PS5 and Xbox Series X are backward compatible with the PS4 and Xbox One games and Steam already listed Metal Gear Solid V in their store page. I seriously do think Metal Gear Solid V will gets it's own port for Nintendo Switch console.

It's basically the same thing with longer over the top cutscenes (and I'm putting that mildly) and with much more slower dialogue (meaning the original voice acting was WAY better). However, graphics are better, you can go into 1st person view with handguns, and the guards have radios to call for backup. I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting but I believe I covered many of the differences.

No. Game preservation is more important than updating these games with modern graphics so that it becomes forever impossible to actually play the originals anymore. This is art, remember. Do you think it'd be a good idea for some random artist to "update" and "remaster" the Mona Lisa painting? Or do you think it's better that we keep the original in as perfect condition as possible, and if anyone wants to incorporate the Mona Lisa into their own art (like many artists have done) they can simply use a printing of the original, instead of painting over the original and forever destroying it in the process. Remake the games, sure. MGS 3 Delta looks really good and I'll almost certainly buy it (albeit I'll wait for reviews, first). But the original unaltered games need to also be available. For the sake of game preservation, for the sake of art history. That's what this collection is about. If you don't like it, then don't buy it. But don't ruin it for the rest of us who actually care about game preservation and history.

For story and timeline purposes, why would MGS4 be on Volume 1??

Honestly people are overacting about mgs4 being stuck on ps3, heaps of games are stuck on older platforms. Also lets be real, its the weakest out of the five main games.

Dreadfully long cutscenes, boss fights are just rehashes of all the past ones (and don’t get me started on the “Beauty” segments which are really just soft-core p*rn.) That isn’t to say there weren’t good things about it though, I liked the gun customization and Shadow Moses level. I also wish the mechanics of working with the rebel factions in acts 1 and 2 were carried over into MGSV with the Mujahideen.

@@morsecode980 i really liked the beauty and beast theme with the frog soliders and the geckos. and i think mgs4 is the best in terms of aesthetic, be it soft core porn or not. it’s like one of our Japanese animes! i wouldn’t say 4 is better than 5 in terms of playability but in terms of nostalgia. 4 hits every mark. making you experience raidens evolution and the end of snake’s story arc. mgo2 was the best multiplayer on the planet and no other game has come close

Metal gear is canon, even if they don’t mention it it was sealed as canon by the cassette at the end of MGSV being named operation intrude n313, the name of the op you play through in the first metal gear, so wtf you waffling about?

Parts of the story have also undergone changes. In the nes version there isn't even a battle with the metal gear, there's just a computer, you can only see metal gear in its sequel snake revenge. Metal Gear (msx) and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (also msx) are canon and part of the main time-line Metal gear (nes) and snake revenge (also nes) are spinoffs and are in their own dedicated time-line

What is up with this bonus content stuff you guys keep latching on too, bruh mg1 and 2 were not bonus "content" , freaking Yakuza games have nes titles in the game world's arcade machines not to mention how moronic you have to be to consider a 0.05 dollars worth of "content" anything other then bull shit marketing strategy to sell 2 games and one ps1 emulation at full price

@@sourkyle the single player for MGS3 and 4 have almost nothing to do with their online modes, and MGS3 didn’t launch with an online mode originally in the first place. MGS4 had the iPod songs and weapons but they have no real impact on the story. Peace Walker meanwhile is a chore to playthrough unless you have help with some of the main ops, especially the bosses earlier on in the game.

@@chickenheelnakano most of the bgm were used in the online. snake is in sneaking mission. you can turn on unique characters and play as ocelot, akiba, meryl, raiden and vamp. so i mean the online is just as connected to the single player. i get they there were released separate much like mgo3 for mgsv. but to say the online didn’t matter for mgs4 is a very bold understatement.

7 games some of them very rare. The price is pretty good for what ya get. And the NES and MSX games are 4k.

One benefit is that the MSX and NES games do run at 4k.

Yeah you can still buy rising, so why not add V to the collection
