Superb job Gavin..I too collect napoleonic miniatures 28mm. Ive found Perry figures to be excellent. My problem is I collect a lot different things & there's not enough hrs in a day to tend to all my interests. Ur videos are very instructive. Keep up the great work.
Fantastic job, Gavin. I didn't expect u to have the figures painted in the same video. I recently purchased a box of french infantry from the same company. What a delight to paint.
Very carefully wedge cut the plastic between the ears to get more profile .Nice paint job . i have so much to do , I need a quick method to get through all the boxes
Very nice. These are so far my only foray into Napoleonics, I think their plastic cavalry are great. I painted a box of Heavy Cavalry and Dragoons and used them as a test to see if it was worth my while painting as a sideline income. Put them on eBay and what I got for them wasn't worth the time spent so that was the end of that venture. Wish I'd kept them but I do have several more boxes of each for the time I really get the Naps urge.
I've still got a set of unpainted Miniature Figurines which were always my favourite 25mm metal figures so it'll be interesting try Perry's to see how they compare. I haven't painted for at least 20 years!
The perry metals are nice but need a lot of clean up the plastic can be good sometimes the equipment details can be a little soft and although cheap compared to metal you will have to get a scalpel and de mold line and stick them together . You might want to take a look at Front Rank miniatures , lovely casts and little clean up . I will have a couple to show soon . Regards Gav .
Nice paintwork! I do worry about the blue on their tunics though. If you see the original uniforms (for example in the French army museum in Paris) it's very, very dark, almost black. I suppose it would fade with age, but not to that extent. Ah, but your figure is a carabinier! When the carabiniers started to wear cuirasses in 1809 their uniforms were white with light blue facings. This was reversed, afaik, only for trumpeters.
What did you use for sticking the bases to the Green milk tops with? Great jo by the way and new subscriber. Got to love French heavy cavalry. atb Glenn
I got my box from a seller at a war games show I don't no the name, cost £17.00. I think you could get them from perry miniatures direct or try ebay . Sorry I cant be of much help John . Regards Gav .
