Tbh, if you can seperate the two 'realities' and still function here, while being healthy about 'interactions with your DR', it's chill. Whatever helps you function, as long as you're not harming others or yourself in the process. If going off to Naruto Land in your dreams to kiss Sasuke makes you happy, vibe, man. Just don't get carried away and try to full-on escape there. You're a tourist to your DR, not a refuge of your CR trying to move in permanently to your DR. Heck, even I do it on rare occasions, to influence my dreams, as it's one of the few times my Aphantasia kind of bugs off if I do it right. It's nice to feel like I just get to vibe and interact with my favorite worlds like that, feeling like it's real. And while I don't exactly doubt the multiverse theory stuff, I don't think your dreams are a portal to other realities, even if all you've done in said dream could have happened in another universe technically speaking. They're just neat pictures your mind makes while bored or sorting things into boxes, hah. Tl;dr, I agree. Manip your dreams, parallel universe thought is neat, but don't actually think you *went* there. Keep your head straight ^^'

I was watching this video after just waking up. My mom called me so I got up pretty fast, I had a head rush and after taking a step or two, I fell down, flat on my face, breaking both of my front incisors in half. That happened 2 years ago. I passed out for like 5 seconds and came back thinking I had been lying there for an hour. What I was told was that my parents heard a loud thud and went to investigate, finding me flat on the hard tile floor with a chipped piece of my tooth lying beside me.

I think escapism is a valid coping mechanism, but only if you’re self aware of what you’re doing. I love making fanart and buying merch of my favorite cartoons, but I’m not trying to literally astral project myself across the universe to catch a pikachu lol.

Revisiting this after a couple years, reminds me of us kids who seriously hoped that our futures would be less abusive than the present that we had. This can happen when an area or country you live in stigmatizes mental health and sometimes tells kids in bad situations to just get over it and make nice. I can hope now that there are better resources out there that my friends, my sister and I never had as options. Or that some still don't have as options...

One thing to keep in mind is that some people in this community genuinely do have a mental disorder known as Maladaptive Daydreaming. When people claim they’re doing methods that don’t put them to sleep, it can sometimes be considered maladaptive daydreaming. I know some people who have this disorder and that genuinely have had “interactions” with fictional characters because of this disorder. Also, don’t get me started on how delusional this community is. They blur the line between fiction and reality so much that they are delusional and genuinely believe that their “desired reality” is a real thing. I get that there may be parallel universes, but I do not understand how they could include fictional sources being *real*. It’s a ridiculous premise. Another note, related to my first tangent; I think before we truly do judge these people, take into account a couple of factors: their age and their disorders/home life. For example, people with DID/OSDD often daydream of escaping their childhood traumas, which often develop into non-human alters or introjects (alters based on fictional/factual sources outside of their brain). Another example could be a child who is deeply attached to fictional stories. Third example could be someone with psychosis who already struggles with the line between fiction and reality. All of these people have something about them that makes them all the more prone to becoming victim to these communities with their manipulative tactics to convince you that you can join a fictional world, you just aren’t trying hard enough.

I believe in it, never done it nor do I try very hard to. If I am bored and got a free hour or so Ill be like sure whatever lets give it a shot. I think for the most part it's not so much an obsession but just the idea that the person can get a break from everything they are going through. Even if it doesn't work, and never will. Many of these communities that I have seen promote a healthy lifestyle, some even claim you won't be able to unless you eat enough balanced meals and drink enough water. You need to go for a walk during the day to get fresh air, have your body and mind in peak condition. You need to think positively and still go about your daily life. When people say keep trying, it can mainly be because trying is living a healthy life and then spending an hour meditating before bed. So I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing, it is just like anything else. Too much of it, or obsessing over it can be bad and very unhealthy. That same logic can be applied to anything. If it is real, which I don't think it matters too much whether it is or not. I like to think of it like this. You go about your day. Speak to your friends, eat properly, go outside and drink your water. You go home, you need a break so you decide to shift. You don't leave some clone behind, you drift off to sleep. Your consciousness doesn't leave your body (Rather detaches) doesn't transfer to a whole other world. Your mind creates the world around you. Your body and your life is still going on, you are asleep. Time exchange can be tricky and perhaps different for each person depending on how fast their consciousness is. It's not a dream but not a new world either. You are awake, you are at home in bed but you have disconnected yourself from well you. It's not exactly something we can comprehend. Not now, maybe someday in the future but also we may never understand it. Similar to dreaming but with a lot more reality to it. In dreams things can feel real but when you wake up you realize everything was a little off. From people I have spoken too when you wake up, everything still seemed real. When you really think about how the body works, it isn't as spiritual as many imagine it to be. Our eyes have nerves that send signals to the brain to comprehend what we are seeing. At least from what I have been told in school that's my understanding of it. I am no professional here. The things is our dreams can almost replicate reality because signals are still being sent and our imagination fills in the gaps, mimicking the signals, as our body shuts off for the night. But if our consciousness, what makes us think, the part of you that comprehends can mimic those signals and sensations then it can create a whole world as your body is shut off. Instead of sleeping you are wide awake, but not receiving signals. It's not dreaming because no part of you consciousness is resting. It is all working, which is probably why when people claim to have shifted they often wake up feeling not very well rested. Which is also why it is recommended that if you succeed you should not attempt it every night. Too much of it could be damaging. Your mental state would be exhausted while your body is fully rested each night. Also too much could make you feel detached permanently from the real world. Bottom line, I think we have stumbled upon something that we don't fully understand. People believe they have done it, and instead of ridiculing it maybe encourage them to study it and if it turns out to be dreaming. Then great! We have learned more about how dreams work. If it turns out to be something else, then we can work to try and understand what exactly is happening. At the end of the day, I'm just a random 17 year old who had an idea on what could explain it and this is a RU-vid comment on a 2 year old video. So who is really gonna read this?

Me and my friends in middle school used to pretend that various mythical creatures existed near us and we could see them when we obviously did not. It's just games, and i think it's cool that kids nowadays have the means to make those games even cooler. At least this is how i see it
