My thoughts on the amateur radio digital voice modes. Discussed are P25, NXDN, DMR, D-Star, and Yaesu System Fusion (C4FM). I also touched on M17 and FreeDV.
This was not meant to be a discussion on the technical aspects of each mode, but their ease of use, cost of entry, and whether or not which one would be the best choice.
Defining best is not what technology is better than others, but what works out best for you, such as where your friends are, the types of people and nets you would like to communicate with, as well as what types of repeaters you have in your area.
