@@lazyking8445 That's very interesting, considering the Buu saga is what made most people have Gohan as not their favourite character anymore where he previously was.
Yeah. That kinda annoyed me, well moreso on the guys literal channel people only time-stamping the TFS parts. Like Mark's whole video wasn't fantastic. It lol felt kinda disrespectful. The channels that just uploaded the TFS parts was just whatever, I expected it but not THAT fast lol.
41:48 tbh the goku threatening shin but is probably the only bit where i do like the original more than the tfs version cause when goku raised that hand you could see the moment where (regardless of if he was gonna actually fire the ki blast or not) shin thought he was about to get smoked
it couldve worked (gohan taking over as mc) if toriyama used gohan as a way to explore different ways of using ki either developing more ki techniques catered to the rest of the z fighters or just more ki techniques in general imagine yamcha with a Ki bat im just saying
My theory why "Gohan as main character" didn't worked out is that well most of the audience joined into DB when there was a lot of fighting and fighting with a lot of strong ppl you know: tenkaichi budokai, sayians, frieza, androids, cell etc. and when gohan was taking over few first episodes were almost without any action at all, just catching up and other boring stuff... and on top of that they've made a point to prove that gohan neglected his training and now is weaker than Vegeta or his dead father... The final nail in the coffin was gohan's final fight with buu, they didn't even know how to finish that fight...
I cant lie I hated the saiyaman shit as a kid just cause how goofy it is but the older I got the more it became awesome aha gotta be able to enjoy some dumb shit now and then not everything needs to be all edgy and shit
Honestly it was a terrible idea to begin with to make the character who doesn't like conflict to be the main character of a BATTLE series. That would be like making the main character of a show about ninjas like Naruto be a samurai or making the main character of a sports anime be someone who is too lazy to do sports. Unfortunately Gohan was doomed from the start, his passive and later lazy nature can't carry a show about fighting and constant self improvement. It becomes worse in Super since he becomes someone who relies entirely on his genetic advantage as a half Saiyan to become stronger instead of putting in a constant effort. Gohan essentially started doing what Vegeta did back in the Namek Saga: exploiting his genetics for power and unlike Vegeta, Gohan is rewarded for not working for his power. In all honesty I'm entirely convinced that if you took away Gohan's genetic advantage then he would honestly become as strong or weaker than the human characters and any amount of last minute training crap he tries to pull off will amount to less than nothing. If Goku hadn't come back when he did then the Earth would have been done for under Gohan's protection.
Love this my man. A word of advice though, maybe turn down the video's volume a bit or pause before you speak because I legit couldn't hear what you were saying most of the time!
Which ever VA apart of TFS that does Vegeta in this part for his Final Attonment made his sacrifice within DBZA so much more impactful on me than Kai or the Original. Its like Vegeta is putting away every bit of his Env, Jealousy and Pride to do the right thing without other influencing factors for once. Went from Saiyan Prince Vegeta to Resident of Earth, Richest Man Alive, A husband to Bulma, and a father to Trunks, Vegeta.
My only issue with people saying Gohan's training would prevent the Buu saga: do we not understand math? The only argument you can have is that Gohan with training is strong enough to overpower the absorption alongside Supreme Kai's magic, in which case you got it. But if not... that level of energy revives Buu off rip. The lack of training cut his power nearly in half, and then we know that if he had trained, he would at least get somewhat stronger. Even if it were miniscule, Gohan absolutely gets that strong. And no, this doesn't mean he can defeat Buu, as the energy gathered for Buu isn't equal to Buu's full power. it actually means that the Ultimate Ritual likely gives Gohan a larger boost, as there's more potential to unlock in a stronger body. The biggest thing that people misinterpret (which is also due to how vague they were) is that they think potential in this show is a static measurement. If that were really true, then it goes down the rabid hole of statements that SOUND true but aren't. Example: future Gohan and present Gohan do not have the same level of potential, but it's very simple to argue against that. They ARE the same person, right? Right? No. Future Gohan would have more potential with two arms because he is older and has constantly gone through hardship. Scientifically, you can argue that it involves parts of your epigenetics or just DNA in general that change constantly as time goes on, but at some point science and dragon ball stop blending together.
You i gotta love gohan for fumbling so hard that goku had no choice but to return to life to save everyone's ass for one last time. Gohan is not mc material
When the supreme kai stated that buu was stronger than goku, like all that did was get goku excited to fight buu, cut the kai some slack he does not understand goku's unique nature as a saiyan, every saiyan has a unique nature that if trigered encourages them to fight, telling goku someone can put them hands on him?and him being able to fight that person alongside vegeta, thats all goku wants aint nobody gonna take that from him
Psalm 37 verse 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
The Buu Saga gets a bad rap, but it was honestly fine. It fell victim to the #1 rule of nerd culture; the new thing always sucks and the old stuff was perfect.
