I considered this model before deciding on the 261cm last week I've heard nothing but good things about both, but the pro features of the 261 won me over

Heavy...thats my only real thought as i picked it up new today....thing is insanely heavy...i ran 036s for years and they seemed half the weight of this thing...its heavy enough im almost considering returning it

Yeah, it’s heavy, but I’ve gotten used to it. Definitely my complaint too though.

I like the 271. It was a Christmas gift from my dad 4 years ago. Mine has an 18 inch bar. Just got a new chain last year. Where did you get the felling dogs?

Ok nice! I ordered them off eBay. Just search stihl ms 271 felling dogs and there is a bunch of similar ones

Great saw! How much those mods on that saw cost?

Probably around $100 or less. The spikes were around 50 and the muffler port was $30-40, definitely worth while upgrades to do!

was the retuning difficult after the muffler and air filter mod? I just ordered a kit from wcs, great vid

Thank you! No not at all, watch a few videos on basic carburetor tuning and you’ll get the hang of it. Check your spark plug after a few tanks and you’re good to go. That’s awesome it’s going to run so good now!

I own a stihl ms271 and it has been nothing but trouble. It always has a problem running and getting someone to work on it is very expensive. I am not happy with it but the initial cost was to much to just throw the thing in the garbage.
