Here I share all about my Thyroid Removal Surgery. I had surgery on the left side of my thyroid to have it removed. This was my first time going under so I wanted to share about the pre-op and Post-op recovery. I'm sorry if I'm all over the place, I was still recovering and trying to explain it the best I could. I love your face!
Dr.Fraker at the University of Penn did the surgery.
Thank you for all the love and support it means a lot to me!

In December I lost my favorite person to thyroid cancer, my grandfather. I'm still struggling with grief so I know how scary this is. Sara, God is in control and whatever is going on, do not submit to it! He is stronger and more mighty than any cancer or any issues going on. You are BRAVE! Believe me when I say I am praying for good things in Jesus name! Love you girl!

I had a full Thyroidectomy in January. They found 2 thyroid nodules, and they diagnosed me with Hashimoto's Disease. One of the nodules was suspicious so they did a biopsy and they diagnosed me with Thyroid Cancer (Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma). I had to do radioactive iodine for my treatment. Thank you for posting this video! It doesn't make me feel that I'm the only one. I wish you the best of luck on your recovery!! :)

I myself had my thyroid removed back in 2004 so to papillary cancer. I got my entire thyroid removed. I didn't need to do radiation or anything of that nature. Hope you recover soon.

Sister please help me. I am from Sri Lanka. My thyroid was also fully removed 10 years ago. Should I take thyroid hormone replacement medication for the rest of my life.? Please tell me. I am so sad because of my thyroid removal. Before the surgery I was very active and much more healthy. But now I feel very tired every time. My questions are ; will the thyroid grow after removal? If yes , how is it? If no, should I take medication for the rest of my life? Because some doctor said that the medication cannot do all things that thyroid do.!! I am so afraid of bad results If don't take care of this. Please tell me what you know of this. May God bless you. I have three children and parents. I am the breadwinner of my family. I must be healthy so that I can take care of them. Please reply me🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

@@الرحمنعلمالقرآن-م5ر Ever since I had my thyroid removed I’ve been on thyroid medication. The doctor had me controlled, for the first year to find out what dose I had to be on. I have to take my medication daily for life every morning 30 minutes to an hour before breakfast. I’ve forgotten to take my medication sometimes 2 days in a row, and I start to feel very tired and my heart starts to palpitate. You need to take this medication because It’s the hormone your body needs to control your metabolism. With out if you feel sick, tired even depressed . Please go see your doctor to help you control it. You have little one that need you.❤️ Your thyroid will never grow back, once the entire thyroid is out you need medication for life.
@الرحمنعلمالقرآن-م5ر
@@mariaperez7355 thank you sister for this valuable information. Last request I never disturb you again. Should I check up for every month or what.? And should I eat specific foods. Thank you for this video.. I just had a total thyroidectomy on the 22nd of this month. So far my throat is fine, but it feels like a big lump. It's hard, and I seem to be breaking out from the hormone replacement under my neck and on one shoulder. I stayed overnight. My calcium level was low but they got it back up. I also seem to be sweating alot under my chin and neck. There's a clear fluid coming out. I'm just super nervous about it all. I'm glad I had it done, because I also had a mass deciating my trachea. I couldn't breathe, and got winded easily. Just praying it will be OK, and things will heal properly❤

Out of all my surgical procedures, I have to say having my thyroid removed was the roughest. I've had a hysterectomy and a c-section and others, but this one was rough. I am assuming it has quite a bit to do with the location. I chose to have the entire thyroid removed because I did have a previous cancer (note hysterectomy surgery) consideration so decided with already being medicated because the thyroid wasn't working, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, there was no reason to keep it. If there is an organ that isn't working and it could kill me (cancer) I want it out. All tests were done and cancer was ruled out but still I opted for removal. Thank God I listened to my body like you did, labs came back positive for papillary carcinoma and is the most common of the thyroid cancers out there. Because my entire thyroid was removed I had to stay overnight in the hospital so my calcium could be monitored because the level can drop dangerously low after thyroidectomy procedures. I am so glad I did spend the night as I was able to better utilize pain management in the hospital instead of being stuck in my home in that kind of pain. That was almost a year ago now and I still am being very careful on sun exposure. I actually found a stick sunblock for new tattoos that has been a great little carry along to just swipe across the remaining scar. I have used coconut oil as a topical once the incision was healed to help work out any 'bumps' in the scar. I still do not have my voice back 100%, meaning singing wise, it is a bit scary when I get to singing along in the car and my voice squeaks or cracks or suddenly becomes a deep base. lol But I was warned about that part too. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you are doing MUCH better!!

@@fatpinkteddy Keep your chin up, listen to your docs if what they are saying makes sense with current treatment standards 9or new tech and medicine. The first 48 hours sucked, but after that my biggest issue continued to be the change in my voice. I still do not have all the power in my voice that I had poresurgery but no issues since and just continued monitoring of my levels. Interestingly enough they have had to reduce my meds as I was suddenly testing hyper thyroid, I can only assume it had to do with weight loss! Good luck!

@@Heather_A1 how do you feel? Do you have energy to go about your day as a normal person? I'm afraid of surgery that it'll leave me a shell of a person and I'll lose even more hair than I did, or that I'll gain weight.. or suffer depression bigger than I am now cause of this thyroid.. but my body aches and pain are so hard sometimes to deal with, keep me awake at night sometimes.. just horrible.
@Heather_A1
@Heather_A1 2 года назад
@@OzmaOfOzz I had that same fear of hair loss. I began taking biotin and started using the liquid generic Rogaine from Costco, I would get it on sale for $16 a box (three month supply for me). It worked well for me. It sounds like they do not have your levels where they should be? If your levels bounce then you may have more than just an underactive thyroid but maybe other issues such as Hoshimotos. I am in a better place without my thyroid since I was medicated at a level that a person without a thyroid would take there really was no need for it anymore. Energy is better, I gained about 15 lbs but that is gone too. I always have hair falls when I have surgery I react to the impact on my system from being put under. My hair is thicker now than it was before surgery. But, again that I am crediting rogain generic for. lol

You look wonderful for 4 days since the surgery! I'm so glad your husband was there for you; it's sweet the way you talk about him. The numb/tingling feeling is normal... that should dissipate over time, but may take a little while; check w/ your doc when you see him (I'm a Medical Asst by the way). Not surprised you felt very tired and sluggish; surgery, let alone being "intubated" and being put under is a shock and trauma to the body. Give yourself time to rest and recover. Be well and take care of yourself... so happy you're doing better! Hugs and kisses!!

Look into it look into iodine drops have your daughter start taking iodine she has a deficiency and iodine that's what changes the hyper or hypothyroidism doctors don't know much about curing things they usually just treat symptoms they want to do surgery because that's what they're told to do they don't even barely have the basic nutrition courses a chiropractor or a veterinarian has way more nutritional study. So like I said take the lugols iodine drops that should correct her hypothyroidism or hyper hyper skinny and hypo is heavier but that helps.

I had 2 partial thyoidectomies in 2004. My first half tested positive for cancer and I had to have the other half removed. I got some good healing salve and my scar is barely noticeable. You would know if he hit something in regard to your voice. I still get hoarse a lot more quickly than I used to, but I know people who weren't able to speak above a whisper post op. I would get myself a good endocrinologist for follow up care. Good luck!

omooshun94602 because you've said this, I went and looked at the old videos and yes her neck was huge on one side. I am going to have mine removed in the next coming months and I'm scared but my mother had to have hers removed and my brother. My neck is huge I'm the middle, and I hate it. I'm not good at taking pills but it looks like I will have to learn to take them the rest of my life because when I laugh too hard my throat hurts, if I cry I feel like my throat is closing, when I eat something cold it feels like my throat is freezing so I've had enough.

I had the right side of my thyroid removed because of a nodule, 3 weeks ago. My incision is lower, and I can definitely relate with you on how painful it was post op once anesthesia wore off. I also have rheumatoid arthritis and the medication they gave me for that via IV caused me to have 3 panic attacks. I also have numbness/pins and needles type of feeling in the area. I'm still pretty sore and feel tugging when I swallow. My voice is a hot mess lol my left vocal cord was affected by the surgery and it might take months to get back to normal. Here's hoping it will! Found you because of your latest dollar tree haul and will definitely be subscribing! 😊

I've had my goiter since I was 8. It's still just chillin... Lol seriously though I'm terrified .. my hashimotos is a nightmare. But have you checked out Dr. Shooks videos here on you tube? I think he is brilliant amd the easiest to understand about thyroid issues. Because he also has thyroid issues. I'm so so happy you are recovering and I'm praying your tests are negative and you can get on with healthy living. I adore you. You had me in tears because I do understand... I'm doing the beachbody 21 day fix on Monday. It is easy fun amd healthy! Best of luck to you!!!

I came across one of your older videos and first thing I said to myself was omg I think this woman has thyroid issues because I did as well. I am so glad you did finally get checked out and all is well. I had a total thyroidectomy because I had two tumors on top of each other that turned out to be cancer. Your viewers who really care about you will ask or tell you about things maybe you don’t notice so I am glad enough people said something enough to get you to go. Who knows what could have turned into any later. Best of luck to you
