Hello! This build is amazing; i picked the streamerX to make an attempt, but found out the videodock isnt for dale anymore. Do you know where I might find the STL files for sale?
Step 1: Start creating content with what you have and be consistent. Step 2: Let the brands send you the gear. Rode sent me a whole bunch of gear as well, including Streamer X. Because I made a video on Rode Podmic comparison with a cheap microphone, which I borrowed from my friend, and the video got a lot of attention.
My Shogun died. Atomos won't repair it even if I paid them. I always used it indoors and stored it in its case. Please keep in mind that Atomos products are ultimately disposable unlike cameras, lenses, and similar recording products from companies like Black Magic that can actually be repaired.
Hooray! I knew I wanted this sort of compact, unified combination device when I first saw the Streamer X. Sadly, I had no clue how to realize my desire. You, Caleb, have shown me how. THANK YOU SO MUCH! And, whew, the kit availability solves my no-3d-printer problem, too. Whee!
Keep in mind that the SATA connectors of SSDs, or the female counterpart, are not made to be plugged and unplugged a lot. The contacts wear down and can even break quite quickly. This will not last very long if you are unlucky. Might want to jsut use a USB hub instead with a toggle between Ninja and PC for example. Otherwise amazing build and idea!
It doesn't really seem to be a problem for most of these recorders. most people use them by constantly removing the drive and using the caddy as intended. The connector has a low rated lifetime, but mostly doesn't really have issues seemingly
I've had hotswap set ups for some chassis i selected in previous builds (the corsair 300D comes to mind immediately) and that required the HDD / SSD to be plugged into a sata adapter similarly to this behaviour. It was totally fine over long term use.
Rode has been really smart investing so much in software these days, really makes their products so much more powerful. The Elgato Stream Deck could be added to this for some visual icons on the buttons too... super cool set up. Using MIDI as a hack is very clever.
Those pads should have an LCD underneath them. Trying to remember what color does what is a huge headache. I need to have my cheat sheet with me everywhere I go and I'm using this build.
I love this build, amazing! One question though. Looks like you can close the monitor 'lid', which would be nice for transport. However, won't the two knobs then damage the screen? Perhaps some rubber support on the upper side of the screen can prevent that. Or all around the screen, as it can double as a little sun hood when the monitor is in use.
Gr8 ideas and compilation with well execution but costly affairs. May be for PRO users /media influencer. I have a doubt about your audio chain, can you please explain? Regards
How are you getting the quality audio into the Ninja V for recording. I just set mine up and realized it will only record the camera audio, not the audio from the streamer x
Can you use the Streamer X to start and stop recording on the Atomos? It would be much better to have physical keys for that than using the tiny button on the Atomos screen.
All of this can be done from OBS with a simple Capture Card like Elgato Cam link which is the size of a USB thumb drive. I don't see ANY point to using this device or this workflow.
Thanks. This is a really great device. To be honest, I’m not sure why Rode didn’t build the Streamer X with a screen in the first place. I suspect that later iterations might go down this path.
if only the ninja's internal recording file sizes weren't stupidly large, this would be useful, unless you're into investing in terabytes of storage for recording a single youtube video
This is your most innovative and compact build yet, unfortunately the Streamer X is $399 making it much too expensive compared to the ATEM Mini Live ($295) which has tons more functionality, like letting you control multiple cameras, transitions and gives you DaVinci Resolve Studio for free... Sad if it was for $159 it would be a much better purchase
Can you explain your audio chain? I there a way to record audio into Atomos from StreamerX? Otherwise, I can only record in computer via ECamm, etc. Many thanks!

I've live recorded the Grateful Dead and all their affiliated projects since 1976. And lately, I've been playing with Facebook Live streams. YOU SIR , ARE MY HEW HERO! Totally hitting subscribe and notify buttons! I only wish RU-vid supported multiple thumbs up. One question .... Do any of the video dock's inputs support 3.5" ministereo audio input? Cause I'd love to marry my tascam DR60D's stereo out and take advantage of its twin channel xlr inputs. Anyway... THANKS!
Great video. Now, how about cimbining the Atomos Ninja V with the Atomos ninja Connect that can do all sorts of ethernet, NDI, SDI, WIFI and camera to cloud stuff etc with fx the Røde Streamer X and do a new build with these components? I already own the Ninja V and have upgraded it to os11 and I own the Ninja Connect moduler and have all the codec available, so just need the Røde Streamer X part
One of the great hacks I got from this channel was putting a field monitor on my teleprompter so I can see myself while still keeping my eye on the camera lens 👌🏻
Hey Caleb, nice video. I was wondering are you aware of a way to control Aputure lights via Midi or something similar? My entire office studio is Aputure lights and it's a shame I need to use Sidus Link separately to operate them
What about sync video and audio? Like when the cameras HDMI out are delayed ... Can you synk that in the streamer X? Also does the Streamer X HDMI in suport audio via HDMI?

The ability to record a 4k program is great. That said, I love the ATEM mini extreme ISO workflow. Don't have a problem connecting a cable. The only thing I wish the ATEM could do is record a higher quality program than the stream settings. That said, opening the ISO Resolve project and tuning up edits is great. My workflow is 1080 for now, which is fine.
Loved it!! So portable, so practical, so powerful. The only thing could make this setup PERFECT is a switcher for 2 cameras. Not one, not 4 (i own the Atem mini pro) but just 2. Thanks for sharing
Could you put a 2x1 HDMI splitter in the signal chain? One of those splitters that has a button to switch between the inputs? I’m not sure if there would be a delay between the switching, but there might be.
Hello! I have a question! Which audio then gets captured/passed through the Atomos on the HDMI? Doesn't that audio only come from what is going through the HDMI In and not the audio/microphone devices?
A weird question, can streamer x be used as a standalone video audio mixer output to HDMI using a USB power bank ? I mean if USBC 1 and 2 not connected to anything

Do you know if this is basically the same thing as the blackmagic Atem mini pro iso? Or could you benefit from using these two together? Like If I'm not mistaken you can only use the Atem mini to start and stop recording while using blackmagic cameras.

Probably the most innovation creation. Its brillisnt dude eapecially if u alrrwdy have the stonos ninja v which i do, just goyta see if the stream rode x is worr h it. I wabted3the enxt one up the duo. Cuz i dont like the pro 2 size and its basicslly the same interfaces. The only thing is if ur starting from.scrstch your looking at over a grand when all said abd done and thats id u have a cameras
I don't understand the point of cutting out breaths in the video. Unconsciously, I try to synchronize my breathing with yours, but I just get out of breath and lose focus on your content. It's a shame because this is something that interests me very much. As a professional sound engineer for more than 50 years, I am more than well aware of the importance of pauses and breaths.
I must say that I see no point in this. If there was mixer feature for 4 cameras in that Streamer X, that would be something. But for single cam, no point.

can you please review the samyang vaf lenses. I think those look and work pretty good for the price. FYI it is a auto focus cine lens with some very quick features on it.

400$ for that thing , if it was 50 will be ok , you can get a razer pad and have or simple midi contoler and have the same and more funtualty and if you want to stream you camera get one of thows hdmi to usb that cost 10$
