First, thank you so much for your honest heart and love of these harps and sharing your passion and enthusiasm. You've taken the respect and pleasure of these instruments and raised the bar of excellence for them. You bring the respect for these exotic instruments to new heights. Indeed your attention to every detail and passion has really spread all over the world and no doubt the repect and popularity of these harps has gone up because of you many hundreds of hours you've spent to promote and enjoy these music instruments. Thank you again and again!

OMG I learn so much from your videos, seriously thank you for what both you and Porky are doing when it comes to educating the world about jaw harps. You guys have opened my mind to what's possible and available. Over the past couple of evenings I've literally fallen asleep listening to jaw harp videos, not because they are boring or anything like that but because they sort of put me into a meditative state and I'm listening to so many videos to try to figure what is what along with picking up new techniques.

I really enjoyed seeing them done side by side like that. All of them do sound amazing, though I most enjoyed hearing the Mohan Bass Morchang and the Fomenkov. WOW! I'm looking forward to the day I can play one of those as skillfully, they look incredibly enjoyable to play!

Man, you look like your trippin out when you play! Especially that first one! This instrument is so cool. Thanks for sharing. I just got lost in a “Turkey in the Straw” hole on RU-vid and most were playing violin or guitar or some combination of string instruments. I was like “no, it’s the boing boing instrument that I should be hearing! Where is the boing boing?” Eventually that led me to your channel. Very cool! I didn’t know you could do soooo much with these harps. The different sounds that you can produce is incredible. Thanks for playing for us and sharing your passion. Rock on!

Check out theharpery.com. For starting I recommend Ghorka Tailess, or Glazyrin wave, lighthouse, or compass. Tailess without draw for an introduction to open/close play. Tailess draw for draw starts. Glazyrin wave for midrange saturation, lighthouse for saturated bass, and compass for fast play. All great and affordable, just different paths to travel down.

Thank you for your kind words. I cannot access the Fomenkov anymore, but if you want something equally awesome, and more widely available check out shipanov. For spiritual or meditational play you do not have to spend a lot of money which is what harps like this are. Here are some I suggest for first harps for the beginner. www.theharpery.com/recommended-first-harps-for-beginners Although for meditation and journey work many find that Glazyrin are not ideal. While I am not a teacher, I consider myself someone who is learning. I hope the learning about the instrument, meditation, journey, and self never stops. Harp on my friend. 🙂🙏❤️

This video might be helpful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Udn2cYe9QOo.html Also while not jaw harp for good information on journeying I suggest, “The way of the shaman,” by Michael Harner and, “Shamanic Journeying: A Beginners Guide,” by Sandra Ingerman. A lot of the concepts transfer over to journeying with the harp. I also suggest listening to some prerecorded drum sessions while in the dark that can be found for free here on RU-vid. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WqrBfyCQ0lQ.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bgtjvpCiQUY.html There are so many more. Good luck on your travels. May you encounter things that are beautiful, things that make you uncomfortable, things that make you grow, things that make you afraid, and have many a revelation about yourself and the universe. 🙂🙏❤️

See the thing about these things, they sound cool behind music. But I so rarely hear it played with other musicians. You guys tend to play them solo. I'd love to be in a little sort of jugbandish kind of old timey combo with someone who played maybe jaw harp and a little harmonica and/or washboard. Maybe some jug. And maybe could do a little harmony. Anyone like that in the south Florida area? I've got a nice little repertoire of folk, blues music and old timey music.

So I reformulate my question, what would be the vargan that you would recommend with my budget? I'm seriously thinking about the Glazyrin Star vargan model
@bebbcorpharpery7331
@bebbcorpharpery7331 3 года назад
The star is a good saturated, loud, and widely available Vargan. Give it a try. It is similar to the ascetic, by Glazyrin and the ascetic is lower in cost, and more flexible tongue.
@jorge60304

@@bebbcorpharpery7331 Which one would you recommend the ascetic or the star? are there better in your opinion for that budget? Thank you
@bebbcorpharpery7331
@bebbcorpharpery7331 3 года назад
I would say neither are better, just different. The ascetic is a bit deeper and also has a more flexible reed, so if flexibility is what you are after go with an ascetic. The star us a longer reed that is a bit stiffer. More easily mutable. Star also is a bit larger and has more of a design on it.

You can't have a stainless steel and a carbon steel, in one. They are different steels. Learn your stuff son. You can make the sound's. But not the music.
@bebbcorpharpery7331
@bebbcorpharpery7331 2 года назад
It is quite common to have a carbon spring steel reed in a stainless steel frame as high carbon spring steel outperforms stainless varieties that are flexible enough that can be used for the tongue. Every now and again you find a maker that uses stainless for both the frame and the tongue. Also to help you in your understanding the reed or tongue, and the frame are two pieces of metal held together by either a crimp, wedge, or other fastening method. The more you know. 🙂💫
