I’m not even a freshman in high school yet, but I’m so lucky I found your channel for studying and revision. I was not the best student was super determined to improve my grades! When I found your channel, my grades have gotten so good. Nothing lower than a 3.8 GPA when I used to average at a 2.3! Your channel has done wonders for me! I got happier and more excited towards school, so thank you so much!~~~
so i started pre-ib this year in jan and honestly i am very scraed for the actual program because i failed maths (nobody else in my class failed) and i just made the passing cutoff for chemistry. even though ik i have so much to improve on but considering it was the first time i failed it destroyed me. i really love this video bc it gives me hope that i can bring my grades up these next few years. keep in mind i used to be like a top student before i moved schools to do ib :/
@@jaynahjoy wait you were a top student but then when you started ib you ended up failing math? what happened? was it a time management issue or something like a personal problem, or did you genuinely like find it so hars
I really love this video because I'm in ib2 and you still paint a picture of hope despite finishing the first year. Even my school makes it seem like after the first year it's over for you if you haven't been hitting the goals you want but you're still optimistic even in year 2 which is refreshing and I love it!
What do you mean you got into IB? How does that work? Do you have to take a test? I thought you just pay for tuition and get in. Please, give me more info?
starting IB next year!!! Aiming for a 45, let's try my best! Subjects: English B HL Biology HL Chemistry HL Arabic A SL Maths SL Business/psychology SL
Yeah I understand that. I find it difficult to summarise as I write quite concise notes from the textbook, so in a way I feel like my 'textbook notes' are already my 'summary/revision notes'. And it feels like I'm just rewriting my notes when I make summary notes. But I guess it depends on the subject on whether it's more content-based or application-based and how each person writes their notes.
hi alicia, thanks for the video, do you have tips for covering all the content for each subject in the weeks leading up to the actual exams? I’m currently 20+ days away from the Nov exams and its kinda freaking me out how i can’t seem to cover every understanding or familiar with quotes neccessary
Not me here weeks before going into the IB program and finally getting around to developing a study plan after procrastinating... Talk about foreshadowing
I think MYP is not a good preparation for DP. In fact, I could make a case suggesting that IGCSE is a better preparer, because the people in it are generally more exposed to exams and around 70% of the IB final grade ( external assessment ) originate from there. In comparison MYP is a joke compared to DP. I just competed MYP 5 and am moving to DP in September. I got a 28/32 for science. A 24/32 on the math section. There was a lot controversy over that. But I think more importantly, I took the dive and got lucky. If I could get a 7 for Biology SL/Chemistry SL, or mathematics (6) it would be for the best. Overall counting the average, I got a 46-1/2/56 in the end, so that is around 5.9 ( core subject ) out of a 7. Doesn’t look that bad. But I’d be grateful if I were to achieve a 36 on the IB, which is my goal.
i took MYP and i cant agree more, its such a bs programme, all my firends that came from an IGCSE background had better scores for their first year in DP, i wanted to ask tho, is it true that the extrenal assessments come from IGCSE questions/tests?
ugh i rly dont know what im gonna do. Like u said, we need to find a motivation to go on but rn with all the covid stuff and quarantine and the fact that i cannot go out of my room rly frustrates me.
I have huge problems with Maths AA HL and I can’t change it cause there are no SL subjects that I am willing to take in HL. Furthermore I need HL maths for my university course. Any advice how can I get through it ? I need a 5 at least and preferably a 6.
What do you mean you got into IB? How does that work? Do you have to take a test? I thought you just pay for tuition and get in. Please, give me more info?
@@thiagogregory1 You have to go to your nearest school with an IB program, and you have to take a test to get in. The test might not be all the same. There is a spcific time to do the test, and it's usualy in the fall before your GR. 9th year. In gr 9-10, it's pre-IB, and 11-12, its IB. The IB part of it will cost (If i can remember correctly) about $1000 per year
@@Chennyixuann I am switching to an international school, the tuition is $17K per year. It is full IBDP. I will join in 11th grade. I don't think I'll have to complete the tests?
I go to public school in Australia (she went to an international school) but we don't have to do tests to enter. for my school u did need to be getting lowest Bs in the subjects you want
@@studycollab Thanks for answering. I know understand what´s going on. By the way I really admire you and how you study. Your videos have helped me set up astudy system for myself.
@@heervirwani2161 I joined in MY2 last year and I wasn't quite happy with my average grade at a 5.3.. i worked really hard but you get like good grades in many things and when you get one bad grade it ruins everything
Emil Janev exactly!!! I agree with this so much. I’m in MYP Year 2 (7th grade) and our school just moved to MYP is late 6th grade. It was really hard to start and my grades weren’t how I wished they were but this year is going very well. We are getting our first MYP report card in January and I’ll keep you posted on what I get. Since it seems you’ve gotten many of yours could you possibly help me a little with the grading system, even after a semester, it still confuses me.
The Biology HL notes were written by a student who received a very high 7 and in terms of the economics, currently i only am selliing them as a full pack of SL/HL material. However, there is not much difference between the two content wise, besides the calculations for HL and theory of the firm stuff. Yes, all the notes are in PDF :) Hope that helps!
yes it is hard but it is more that you will have to spend many hours doing homework and studying for that class and if you don't like maths it will be quite painful
@@lpawowp it's not THAT hard. I'm doing math HL AA (which is considered harder) but it's manageable. I'm not expecting a 7 but as long as u do maths at least 1 hour a day, always complete homework and prepare for tests you'll be more than fine!!!
@@beataberg3113 lol, one hour everyday????? HAHAHHA lol, I study one week before the exams, but still get good grades. But I get good grades because I use revision village because is bullshit that only homework will help, since homework is extremely easy compared to the exams because the teacher will test you on things that you never saw in class, but revision village helps me to overcome this, otherwise I completely admit that I would fail maths hl with 2 out of 7 lol.
@@dennymanomg9006 it depends on the teacher, my teacher gives a lot of hw, which can take up to 6 h to complete before next lesson, so yeah I would say it's pretty damn hard, sometimes harder than the actual exam. If you have a teacher that wants you to succeed then they will provide you with adequate questions which will help you succeed. It's not possible to learn maths last minute, you have to develop a deep understanding that doesn't depend on revision or memorisation before tests, you should be able to answer maths questions at any time. Which maths course are you taking anyway and what do you define as 'good grades'?
I'm applying for ib... I submitted my personal statement and am waiting for interview... my school also puts my grades into account so I'm very nervous rn...
i'm failing my gcses and im gonna fail my IBs yay. Also I chose the hardest possible combos HL Psych, Bio and Chem. I'm gonna die and I'm gonna be such a disappointment to my teachers :D
I liked it when you specifically showed the notebooks, the planner in the video ... Now it looks further and you don't appreciate the notebooks, notes, summaries ...
@@merle604 overall a+. There are 6 subjects and the highest grade you can score is a 7. 7 is not equal to 100% but is a high 90 to 100. 7×6=42. The other 3 points come from doing well in an Extend Essay and Theory Of Knowledge course.
