I would love to have seen John Daly and Victor Borge engage in a kind of double-talk debate about ordinary things of life. I imagine that, given their talents and command of the English language, it would conceivably, insofar as the limitations of such an exercise would allow, be highly entertaining, especially in light of the fact that modern-day television (and even to an extent, the modern education system itself) has lost sight of the broader scope of the ways in which well-chosen words can be used, not only to specify and convey a specific thought or thought process, but also lend themselves - to a certain degree - as having an intrinsic entertainment value when applied properly to the right audience and in the right context, so to speak.
On the BBC Situation comedy Yes Minister/ Yes Prime Minister.. there is a character Sir Humphrey Appleby that talks just like John Charles Daily does on this show. He is a the Cabinet Secretary that directly oversees the administration of The Civil Service and is the Senior member of his staff. Much like a Chief of Staff is to the President.
Here it is in 2023 and I'm finding this very entertaining! I think that Mr. Daly would have made an excellent lawyer. He's brilliant at confusing the panel with his lengthy explanations.😂
I was hoping you hadn't made an episode on Daly's verbose interruptions. I love watching these shows, but I have to admit that, the more time I spend watching them, the more annoying I find Daly to be. He's kind of like a person who needs to constantly remind others how smart he is thru his overly-long and usually unnecessary explanations with fancy words. People who are actually secure in their intelligence need not do this.
