If you need Spelling of those names: Species names are never capitalized, except when they begin a sentence. In that circumstance it might be preferable to give the Genus as a capital letter followed by the species name. melanochrysum verrucosum serpens squamiferum *** Leaf shape is like "Florida" but has hairy petioles like serpens. "Florida" is a cross of squamiferum with P. pedatum, which has a smooth and glossy petiole. So "Florida" comes up in between, with scaley petioles. el choco red gloriosum "Jose Buono" billietiae montanum
Would you say these on this list are as easy to take care of as monsteras......... If not, what are some cool looking (beyond Brasil, Cream Splash etc. ) philodendrons that are relatively easy ie. no need for humidifiers. I love alocasias and anthuriums but not sure if I'm ready for them. Thanks for any feedback.
Could you do a video about leca? Nutriants, care etc. My first leca is from your launch and I'd like to keep plants as they came but have no clue what to do next 🤷♀️❤
Hi Kaylee! One suggestion :) can you please put the names of the plants on the screen? Most of them are very hard to pronounce and to write so I can't look for them without the name on the screen haha, thanks!
Let's see if I can help . . . melanochrysum verrucosum serpens squamiferum *** Leaf shape is like "Florida" but has hairy petioles like serpens. el choco red . . . I'm gonna break this off and continue in my own post.
Agreed! I was just going to put a comment saying as much. It’s sad she didn’t come back and add them in the comment section after so many people agreeing with you.
Shouts to you and Pam for being Anti-Trump, anti-racism, anti-bigotry, anti-homophobia, anti-patriarchy. You two embody the energy I'm thriving off of during this tantric election week. Also hope all the harrassment in your DMs and emails comes to an end.
@@MyPonces You're part of the problem. You don't know any of us, or where we came from. According to politics, I'm considered a minority class that lacks privilege.
A P. Spiritus Sancti video done as a biographical of discovery and conservation efforts ending with an update on yours would be a dream video for me. I just fell head over heels in love when you introduced yours. Also what happened with your Aquarium? Update video on that side hobby? You looked great in this vid. Love ya' gal!
I wanted to send you a message to respond to your instagram stories, only to express how sorry I am that you are getting such intrusive and unkind messages. I do understand why you turned that feature off. I hope you know that we are not all like that at all. I do hope it stops. I love your philodendron picks and have wanted the serpens for so long. I do have the fibrosum, squamiferum and sqamicaule so that would be my dream. And I am so glad that the negativity hasn't dulled your shine and stopped you from producing wonderful content.
Really what’s not to admire about everything she shares with us. It’s so nice to have someone that loves the same things I do just sayin I appreciate all the information and chats
I got a huge Gloriosum recently and today I repotted it and got 5 plants out of it in different sizes. I’m in love! Note that in my country plants are not classified as rare so the whole thing cost me $9 bucks lol
Cool! Those are really pretty. I have a friend from Indonesia and he had a good laugh after I told him how crazy expensive some of these plants are here (EU). He said that his family had them growing in their backyard :D.
I would love to get ahold of an El Choco Red, Jose Buono, and a Gloriosum. I've been looking at them for ages. Edit: Gotta add Snowdrift to that list lol I'd love to see a video on how you handle pest control in the shop and at home.
FYI, The clip on grow light link doesn't seem to work for me... does anyone else have that problem? ALSO: Girl, your channel is growing so well! It's THRRRRIVING even
When you said melanos don’t propagate easily, I felt that. My cutting took forever to grow substantial roots for potting, when it finally did, the first new leaf rotted away before unfurling. It’s finally now putting out a new leaf. It’s been three months since I got it
I feel like an easy video that we’d all love to see is a mini tour/repot of your Hoya collection! Love love love your videos, I literally will watch whatever you put out and love it!😆
im currently in my creeping philodendrons phase. Different forms of gloriosum, luxurians, Dean McDowell, plowmanii, pastazanum, sp columbia Paraiso verde is also another easy philo to grow.
Just when I thought I was getting over my philodendron obsession and moving on to dainty hoyas, this video comes out and wrecks me. Why are they allll so gorgeous?!
What do you mean with “humidity tolerant”? Do they tolerate low humidity or high? Because it sounds like high when you say it, but if feels weird because I feel like most homes are not humid 😅😅
It is really sad when politics is brought into gardening when we have a surfeit of it. Can we all leave politics where it belongs & let gardening topics remain in gardening. Let gardening be universal for all & not be tainted by personal beliefs.
@@vancityplantie5752 Yes they VERY are... everything is political. No one should be ashamed for freely and respectfully discuss political, important topics. Definition of politic isn't exactly "fake debates between old disgusting creatures who place their own very personal interest before everything else". Just search the primary definition with the etymology and all if you're interested, I don't want to bother you more if you don't care and I'm not confident enough in my english anyway :) So, just in case, sorry for the potentially bad english. Have a good day 🌼
Hey :) I’ve chopped my choco in the beginning of the spring and it rooted easily in a few weeks. Just wanted to point out, that it might be slow now, because winter is coming 🙃
Do you use a rooting hormone with your propagations? Its seems like it would make sense with the type of operation you're running but you've never mentioned it outside of TC and I'm curious!
Can i offer up my theory? Rooting hormones should be used depending on the type of plant. If you are propagating plants roses, then yes. The roots emerge around the cut zone. If it's an aroid, then no because the roots emerge from the nodes. Aroids should only require a moist environment and a bit of warmth. 🥰
@@philodendronfam4262 I'm aware of how rooting hormone works, considering I've used it before but thank you! You can still use rooting hormone in application with aroids especially if just a little moisture and warmth isn't quite working out for you and you're loosing cuttings instead. It would simply increase your speed of rooting and the success rate, and personally I'd consider it, if anything, helpful to someone who's living revolves around plant cuttings.
Video(s) I feel like would be easy and cool to see are behind the scenes of the shop! I feel like we miss a lot of that in your videos and it’s a lot of your life. You could do a whole series on behind the scenes. Pack with me, rearrange with me, water with me, prop with me etc. for a day. You probably don’t think we’d be interested but it would be a cool new aspect to what you do 💚😁
"Hello, Kaylee Ellen! Glad you have posted this. My name is I was so bored and thank you for posting this." :P But actually thank you for all the effort you put into your videos. I really enjoy them.
man I wish you could ship plants to Australia :( .... it's so hard to get these kind of plants here cos of our bio security laws, I'd love to be able to buy from you.
Would love to see a video on your experience with self watering pots and if any aroid is suitable for that or if some plants prefer top to bottom watering. soil vs leca, that kind of stuff.
I agree with you! For me the splendid, the glorious, gloriousum, black billietae, and melanochrysum are the easiest philodendron plants for me! No fuss at all and very hardy and forgiving! ❤️ could not agree more!! ❤️💯
I managed to grow my Philodendron Florida ghost (which I guess behaves similar to the beauty?) unrooted chonk into a small plant (during German winter) by putting it in a plastic bag on some pretty wet moss on a heat mat (up to ~28°C during day time?). It was in front of a window with no direct sun. The bag was nearly completely sealed, but I left a little hole open and also opened + checked on it from time to time. Over 4 months, it grew 1 leaf and enough roots to pot it up. The first white baby leaf browned and died before unfurling after I removed it from the super high humidity, but the next is on its way and I hope it will stay as it unfurls in regular room conditions. I hope this could be of help so someone struggling!
i have a philodendron squamicaule and I think that that one is the most hairy, like basically everything besides the leaf itself is hairy, and I mean EVERYTHING
I'd say fibrosum is the hairiest!! The hairs are denser but shorter on fibrosum vs serpens hairs are longer but a little bit sparser. That's my experience anyways.
I have to add that my verrucosum has the hairiest petioles I’ve EVER seen on any plant. It may not be the norm for verrucosum, but mine is one hairy B!
She might have to do that one in two parts, but I would watch it. Just love them! Originally it was Aroids first, but somewhere in the last couple years I collected 35 or more species and had to admit its Sansevierias first, Aroids second.
The plant known as 'Snowdrift' is actually a Philodendron Jungle Fever Variegated. It just happens that this particular cultivar is selected from with the ones with the most variegation. The part where there's no green at all. So the plant tends to adapt by putting green parts itself, hence the green specks.
Hi, Kaylee. I’m so sorry about all the negativity DMS you are getting. Please continue to do what you. Some people are just haters and can’t see someone do well. I would definitely like to see more propagation videos. Thank you.❤️
Me on the phone with my boyfriend earlier today : "I can't wait for this day at work to end to be with my dog and a beer watching Kaylee Ellen's video" My dream finally came true ! Once again you did a greaaaat job. Love your content Kaylee you're awesome !
Wow. KAYLEE JUST POPPED IN HERE WITH THAT NATURAL LOOK. Killin it!!! Also love the background!! So aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for all the info in this video and all your other videos!!
I'll never understand how the Asperatum, Fibrosum, Melanonueron, Montanum, Sharonai, Majestic, and Nangeritense philodendrons never get the credit they deserve. I have all of them and they are so sexy.
Can u do a vid on how to tell if u have the write plant e.g. a golden pothos vs a eppeprenium pintartum verigata, monstera alvor v Thai constalation. Love the hosay beaueno (prob spelt wrong) now is the top of my wish list. X
I want to buy a few philos but because of their toxicity, it's keeping from them. I already have a few toxic plants (for example a Monstera adansonii) and I feel guilty enough. I love plants but I do love my 3 birds also. It's so emotionally pulling lol.
Great video. Thank you for all the hard work you do and thank you for being such an awesome person and bringing a bit of light into my life, especially this year. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Billitiae is actually pronounced 'Billy-Etty-Ayy'. The woman who discovered, Frieda Billiet gave clarification on the pronunciation after so many experts had been getting it wrong.
Splendid and glorious. Both incredible and dont give a damn about how much you fuck up. Third leaf of my glorious grew to almost 40cm. My splendid has about 20 cm I think. Just...why waste money on their parents?
My most esteemed philodendron is Florida! Not Florida Ghost nor Florida Beauty. Just Florida (green). I'm on a budget and I love green, green, and green.
Dear Kaylee, I'm writing to you as I've came across different opinions considered philodendron golden dragon and green dragon and I believe that you are the best person that could help me. Green dragon and golden dragon are pretty much alike. The only difference to me are those little yellow sports that golden dragon can have. There's also quite a big difference in price. In Poland at least. I've come across the oppinion that green dragon does not exist! What do you think about it? Is that true? If not how to differentiate between those two? On my wish list is golden variation that's why I don't want to make a mistake when buying one. Thank you for your time. Best wishes, Radek
I bought a Philodendron Gloriosum about 3months ago with one leaf and a little tiny bud popping out on the side. It's acclimated to my home with the new bud growing into a full new leaf. Now I just recently saw a new little bud and got excited that I was going to have 3 leaves and on my way to having a fuller plant. Just my luck, I decided to plant it in a bigger container with better mix and a couple days later the older leaf starts turning yellow! How upsetting that is, I thought this plant was a bit hardier and easy. I think I'm just gonna put it in leca like Kaylee Ellen does w/her plants.
I am new to the channel and this accent is just pulling on my curiousity. Sounds like dutch or scandinavian and moved to the UK when young? I feel like there is an accent under the accent. Too lazy to google. Maybe just all a UK variant, but mild? The name isn't scando.
Beautiful plants but you're showing me plants that are well over 400.usd -500 usd that I will never ever be able to afford unless you know of of secret place that I can get them cheaper in the US.
Your gloriosum looks like the Philodendron gloriosum White ? Silver? Or whatever you call which has got bright white thick serious veins and a hint of pink hue at the back of the leaf
