DC has been killing it with the Dawn of DC relaunch. Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, World's Finest and others. Jason Aaron and Doug Mahnke's Batman Off World is awesome. Aaron's going to be taking over Action Comics as well. And on another note, Daniel Warren Johnson is also killing it. Transformers rocks! Overall, monthly comics are the best they've been in a long time IMO.
All things I totally agree with so I second your comment completely. It’s been a good time being a comic fan lately! We had a little bit of a stagnant moment there but it seems we are back on the good stuff! I appreciate you commenting my friend!
Murder Falcon was an absolute treat. Kali was an amazing fast read and the artwork was beautifully done. I have yet to Dceased but that will hopefully change in the new year lol
Yeah both those book were GREAT And I highly recommend checking out DCeased. A lot of people are getting into comics because of how good that title is!
My book of the year was a bargain bin find in my LCS. It Came! by Dan Boultwood. Never heard of the creator before but took a chance because of the artwork and premise. 1950s Britain and a flying saucer crash-lands in the countryside. A giant robot emerges, intent on absorbing all the Britishness in the land. It’s up to “genius” scientist Dr Boy Brett and his plucky lady friend Doris to alert the proper authorities and see to it the unwelcome guest gets what for. Tally ho, chaps - for Queen and crumpets! A very funny parody of british sci-fi B movies and such a change from my dark supernatural genre I usually go for.

I always love enjoying a book that everyone else hates. It makes the journey of reading the book that much more enjoyable! I also enjoyed Wolverine goes to hell btw!
You know what my top read of the year is.. but yo, I’m so glad you’re expanding your knowledge to more indie titles. It’s so refreshing to read something that doesn’t require alot of knowledge. Dope list broham. 🤘🏾
Yeah bro! I’m found a massive second wind when it came to comics once I found indies! I’m so happy to be diving deeper and deeper into titles I’ve never read before.
Great list and my top 10 is basically the same as yours...loved Kali as well as World's Finest. Also loved the beginning of Joshua Williamson's run on Superman, Dark Knights of Steel (another Tom Taylor elseworlds tale), and Marc Silvestri's Batman Joker Deadly Duo. For Manga, I really enjoyed Rooster Fighter and Spy Family.
You got yourself a Great Top 10! I really enjoyed dark knights of steel and that could have been number 11 probably. I am a fan of Williamson Superman but it wasn’t as fun as the other titles I read from DC. I LOVE that you have rooster fighter in your top reads haha Everyone was treating that title as a joke but I knew it was gonna be someone’s cup of tea.
Cool list here, a lot of varied stories and genres. I am a little confused why Ice Cream Man Sundae Edition volume 2 wasn't here. Was it ... because you hate Ice Cream Man? Merry Christmas, buddy! Here's to another great year of comics!

My favorite reads this year was Deadly Class (all 4 deluxe editions), Jason Aarons Thor omnibus-1 (haven’t read the second yet), All of Invincible. Finally read Invincible and it was epic! Do a Powerbomb and Murder falcon!
This list completely destroys mine! Soooooo many great titles here I wish I could read for the first time again. Specifically Invincible, that title is the most fun I’ve ever had reading a comic book ever!

Great titles in that line up! The only one I can’t co-sign is once and future and that mainly because I was sooooo lost with the story haha I do plan to give it a reread at some point tho!

@@Illuminerdy_Murder Falcon IS something very special. It was so recognizable: I love metal, used to play in a punkband and I had lungcancer 2 years ago. A very emotional read. Monsters was that too. It is a very heavy read. It brought tears to my eyes too. And how it all comes together at the end, it is so satisfying. I am sure this masterpiece will remain in my top 10 my entire life. Just like Murder Falcon. 2023 was a great comic year. 👏🏻
Great list! So many of those HCs like Nightwing and Zdarsky's Batman are titles I will patiently wait for hopefully an Omni one day 🤞The others I will for sure have to look into. Have you watched the Tokyo Revengers anime at all?
Have you read Karmen? Someone recommended Kali to me after I read Karmen, so I am doing the reverse here. I really didn’t get how they had anything to do with each other besides great art and beautiful storytelling (particularly in Karmen). I need to check out that Nightwing run. I have heard nothing but praise for it.
I have not. I’ll have to add that title to my list of books to check out! I’m a SUCKER for some good art. Nightwing by Taylor is seriously GREAT! It breaks up the dark Batman stories beautifully.
Want to grab Worlds Finest, Nightwing & Deceased but am hesitant on the chance they make them into an omnibus. I picked up Batman Chip Z series in hardcover though that could be made into an omnibus too. Do you see any of these being made into an omnibus? Great video!
I do see those titles being made into an omnibus but no time soon. We see DC making omnibuses at a way slower rate then marvel so while it will come I’m sure they will take there time making it. The most likely out of the titles are Deceased and probably Batman By Chip. DCeased already got a deluxe now so once they finish that I’m sure they will move to a Omni and Batman By Chip will get one because it’s Batman. Disclaimer though, this is me totally guessing and I have zero insight haha Just guesses based off experiences!
