I think he severely undersold the Boco hat. I love the aesthetic and subtle branding. It’s probably my favorite hat if all time, it’s insanely comfortable, does not leave sweat / salt stains and dries crazy fast! I’ve owned mine for about two years and to this day looks great. Can you please make a video on how to calculate electrolyte supplementation/depletion during workouts and how to generally calculate how much sodium needed for your workouts undertone. I know you should get your sweat tested to actually know, but I’m sure there’s general rules you follow to know depending on how long and intense your workout is. Like a formula I can use that may not be exact but good enough to cover my needs.

+1
@benjamin.kelley
@benjamin.kelley 2 года назад
I think this is how you'd go about it - Weigh yourself before a longer run (1+ hr), then after the run. Then figure out how much weight you've lost and that will relate to the volume of sweat at average body salinity (salt mass per volume of water) then divide that by the time, and there you go! That will help you to develop a plan on how many milligrams per liter or oz of water you need to take in per hour, or however you want to split the consumption time. Obviously when it's hotter you'll need more and when it's colder you'll probably need less electrolytes, so you have to do this a few times per training block. As a side note, for carbohydrate intake usually you want 30 to 60 g of carbs per hour for anything over an hour, and anything over 2 hours it might jump up to 60 to 90 g of carbs per hour if you can handle it.
@LastGateFitness
@LastGateFitness 2 года назад
@@benjamin.kelley I like that, but I’m still left wondering how many grams of electrolytes I should take for a (light, medium, or heavy sweater) per workout session. That’s the one thing I want to understand. Like for example I’m a heavy heavy sweater. I want to know the amount of electrolytes “generally” I’m losing let’s say per a intense 1 hour session. That way I can use that general guesstimate to supplement the correct amount of electrolytes I need to replenish not just for a baseline but for recovery and performance. Right now I’m just guessing the amount of electrolytes I should use per the servings on the label but worried I might be talking to much/to little. Which if I’m taking to much I’m wasting money, and if I’m taking to little I’m not recovering the way I should be for next intense session and the one after that.

“Darn tough socks” is a company I highly recommend. They’re much better than Feetures, more durable, & come with a lifetime warranty. They are made of a special wool that is soft, but way more durable then any other wool sock that tend to be to soft and wear down a lot. That’s what happened to my Feetures wool blend ones, they started to deteriorate after a year while the Darn Tough Socks are designed to to last years and years. Plus they have a lifetime warranty, just send your old socks and they reimburse you no questions asked. Of the best investments I made clothes wise.

I always have at least 20 pairs in my running shoe rotation. The key how you get more miles out of a pair of running shoes is to be like a surgeon and you treat shoes like patients. You have different categories of shoes for different types of runs and conditions. Then you wear them according to the system. For example a new pair of Asics Novablast is fast, soft and responsive. I wear them only for long runs for the first 400k which means at least 10 long runs. After that I can wear them for easy runs (the shoe is too fast as new for easy paces) and voilà the pair reached at least the 500 mls mark. The same applies to other shoes as well and I have a different rotation for outdoors and indoors (meaning treadmill and indoor track).

Something to note with the Nike Vaporfly and Alphaflys: if you heel strike, I do not think you're going to enjoy these shoes. I would definitely recommend trying them on and doing some light jogging, in store. The foam in the heel stack is very plush and, I would think, it would create a very unstable platform for heel-strikers. I have own several pairs of each shoe and they're very comfortable shoes, if you run on the balls of your feet.

Hey Nick, I'm a true 43 year strong (not physically) true Austinite. I've never worked out a day in my life and am about to run a DEKA MILE this weekend in Liberty Hill, volunteering at the Spartan Super in Burnet Texas the following weekend, Spartan Sprint in Colorado Springs early June and when we return on Monday, volunteering for the Spartan Stadion that weekend. Can you help a non fit, non workout disciplined, broke 43 year old make a podium by next year?

I have a question about the Speeds: I used them as my daily trainer for a year. I’m being advised to use something without a plate as a daily trainer, and to do the majority of my workouts in non plated shoes to build strength. I’m FAR more confident when I’m running in Speeds daily. Do you find any drawbacks to running in plates daily?

They are generally referring to carbon plates when making that statement since the propulsion/effect is so high. Not so much the nylon plate in the speed which is a softer ride.

@@lechef3878that's what I thought too. But it was specified to me they meant the nylon as well. These are decently accomplished runners, and I've only been running 2 years. I want to make sure I'm not wrong to prefer the speeds as a daily trainer.

I am 6’1 335 lbs. I want to start training for a marathon but I’m not sure how to tackle running being out of shape, and overweight. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to start other than just getting out and running

Start on an elliptical until you’re at a healthy weight or you’ll mess your shins bad

I find I chafe less in a 5 inch short vs a 3 inch. Maybe I just haven't found the right 3 inch short, but the 5 inch shorts puts the fabric in between where my legs tend to rub and allows it to slide along instead of my skin sliding along my skin and winding up irritated.

I have currently been rocking some brooks for about a couple of years now and need a new pair of runners. Should I try out sauconys or is there another brand I should look into?

Hey Nick, I train with the endorphin speed 2’s and also ASICS. I’m running my first half marathon on the 22nd of May. Do you recommend running in the endorphin speeds? I’ve been training on them for months.
@Trackstaa_
@Trackstaa_ 2 года назад
Hey I know I’m not Nick but feel like I can add input. Obviously since you’ve been training in them for months then the performance might not be optimum for the shoe. But if you’re comfy and confident with them I’d say wear them. Because for your first half a lot of things are new, so I’d suggest keeping something constant and that can give you confidence in no foot pain rubbing etc

@@Trackstaa_ thanks for the input. I know it’s not the optimal marathon shoe but I can’t afford those Nikes that everyone wears lol.

@@GeeTee88 oh by not optimal I meant it’ll lose some performance from being a little older and having more mileage in. The endorphin speed is a very very very good shoe. So it’ll for sure do the job on race day!

@@Trackstaa_ okay great, it has about 200 miles on it so far. Needless to say it’s very broken in. Lol
