I'm older (41) and found your channel through your ranking of Marilyn Manson records and got curious to see what are the contemporary tastes of someone who is younger than me but also likes the stuff I grew up listening to (I was 14 when Antichrist Superstar came out and it was MAJOR). So I decided to see your top songs of last year. Many interesting stuff! I wasn't familiar with Calva Louise at all. Great band, and their song Square One is amazing.
Your hair looks great. I've been curious to listen to your take on Dark Side Redux actually. I haven't bought the album but from what little I listened to it, I just couldn't get in to it and it hurts me to say that because I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan. I dunno, I went to see Roger live at This is Not a Drill, i was there in Birmingham and London and I loved the new take on Comfortably Numb, i think that's the only new re-working i enjoyed. I thought all the other songs were terrible... but i dunno.. maybe i just need to go out and buy the album and listen to it from start to end but I listened to several songs on RU-vid and i can't see myself getting into it
2023 songs of the year to me are: 1. Paramore “You First” 2. Magdalena Bay “Top Dog” 3. Poppy “Spit” 4. Mitski “Bug Like an Angel” 5. Olivia Rodrigo “love is embarrassing” 6. Danny Brown “Jenn’s Terrific Vacation” feat. Kassa Overall 7. Screaming Females “Brass Bell” 8. Ruston Kelly “Cold Black Mike” 9. boygenius “Revolution 0” 10. Avenged Sevenfold “Mattel”
I'm not trying to start an argument, but the new version of Dark Side of the Moon is one of the worst albums of the year. Production is stellar but that's to be expected, but the instrumentation, additional lyrics, the erasing of history with regards to the original, they only serve to make the record worse. The original at least has optimism, this new one is more like a funeral dirge, and worst of all, a dirge for a world Waters believes we live in, but in fact bears little semblance.
