I agree with the first Floyd album. I think at the top of my head weirdest album I ever heard was probably Aphex Twin’s Come to Daddy. Actually, probably the creepiest. Butthole Surfers, Godspeed You Black Emperor F#A, and Eraserhead Soundtrack. But a lot of these weren’t that weird.

Yes haha One of my guilty pleasures is insane clown posse I love riddle box, Dr John’s debut Gris Gris Gumbo is a New Orleans voodoo psych record similar to Frank Zappa and I recommend it for weird.

As you know I love weird! I did a top 10 weird albums list a year or 2 ago. I think the weirdest album ive heard is Ween "The Pod". I love it!

Ween is amazing. I've only started listening to them recently in earnest, even though I've known about them since the 1990s. (I worked part time in a record store throughout most of the 1990s.)

Ooo, Butthole Surfers, Ween, Primus GWAAAARRRRRR!!!!!! and Green Jello. I think those were the weirdest…Maybe GG Allen, Zappa, and the Flaming Lips. One that I never got into was Buckethead. Too weird for my taste.

All of the above! I like some of those more than others, but all are good and weird. GG Allen is too extreme and I only heard a little of Buckethead.

@morrisgautreau6704 - I was trying to think weird music and Primus is out there but, GG Allin. TBH I never owned a GG Allin album but, I have heard some songs (titles that I can’t repeat on RU-vid). Ween is great too. I think when you have lyrics like “smile on me Jesus. Spinal meningitis got me down.” And that’s your lead single, you’re pretty out there.

I’ve noticed this on several of your videos or I wouldn’t mention it. I’m working while listening to you so my phone is in my pocket, if you could mention the name of the albums or bands that you are showing the CD of that would be great. Some of them I can’t even read so I have no idea who they are…thanks man! Love your content!

DEVO's first album is a masterpiece. Actually, their first four albums are amazing. I'd say that their second, _Duty Now for the Future_ , is even weirder.

I also love their album 'Something For Everybody', it's a gem that gets overlooked.

I think the most objectively weird band that I'm aware of would be The Residents. To be honest, I am NOT a fan of The Residents--I find their music to be borderline-unlistenable. But I cannot deny their importance as a truly influential band. Honorable mentions go to Throbbing Gristle and Negativeland. All three of the aforementioned bands make Frank Zappa, Primus, and Ween look positively mainstream.

I forgot about Residents. They are weird. I think they had a box set that came with a fridge that sold for something like a million dollars?! They’re weird.

@morrisgautreau6704 - Ween’s great. They have the greatest hits album but, I think a majority of their fans would point you to the Mollusk as their best album. I think White Pepper or God Ween Satan for me. That or the Pod. But they are out there.

Sadly I'm not that original (although I do love bands with really complex musical structures like Gentle Giant) ... BUT I once had this weird idea I'm now throwing out in the world : Imagine turning the tables and changing the name of your band every time you publish a new album ... while keeping the exact same album name ... Kinda puts stuff in perspective doesn't it?

I like it! The album title is 'A**hole King'. Now let's say you call your band: The Henry's; next album you change your name to Henry and The Seconds; next one you call your band: The Third Henry; and so forth until you have 8 albums, then retire. 😂

I also like playing an album I'm too familiar with and play the album in reverse song order. Or, I put the songs from shortest to the longest, or vice versa, or alphabetically. Keeps it fresh. You'll hear the album differently.

@@morrisgautreau6704 Thanks for the reply! My memory isn't perfect but when I love a song I usually memorize large parts of it. Hence my love of more complex music. There are a few exceptions however. Try memorizing Tigran Hamasyan's "Entertain Me" for a challenge! LOL It's in 256/16 ahaha

You can't have a "Weird Albums List" without including something by Was (Not Was). I'm thinking their album, _Are You Okay?_ might fit the bill perfectly.
