Fun thing about the Total Recall game. Acclaim/LJN were so pissed at EGM dogging on it that they had stopped sending them review copies of their games for a brief time lol
Thanks for the shoutout and for making this outstanding video! It is greatly appreciated! 🙏🏻 I’ve never seen such a garbage list of games put together in a video in a long time. 🤣 I love to read your comments section and I see some people are defending Goonies 2. I didn’t like it back then nor do I care for it now. Your list is completely spot on! They are all duds. Thanks for listing Total BS, er, I mean, Total Recall as well. Keep up the awesome work!
Upsetting to me to see you list "Goonies II" as among the worst NES games based on a movie. I didn't even hear you make a criticism against the game. Personally, it is my 2nd or 3rd favorite Konami game. I own many boxed copies of it, and a sealed copy of it. I think that the game is rich in atmosphere, and the game is heavily about memorization of the proper route to pass the game- which is really fun to me. In fact, it is so much about memorization, that it is the only platformer that I can think of that does not feature a single boss, whatsoever. I think that it is an incredibly unique video game- nothing else quite like it. To me it is a gem. I care more about this game than I care about the actual movie. I was sadly aware that Goonies II is not heavily loved, and I consider it to be underrated. But to full on call it one of the worst movie based games? I think that is way harsh.
Yeah I hated the movie even back in the day. Like everything else Konami back then Goonies 2 was a really good game. The first game was decent. I use to play the Atari 8 bit version.
So for me, at that point, I had played every single Konami game from 1978 to 1988, so I saw the development styles of Konami and it made me frustrated lol. To me it's the whole memorization aspect, and randomness in where you go. Having to luck out to find keys was rather irritating as well.
@@Fortefyre I can appreciate that. I just have this specific thing where I really dig memorizing a way through a game. I can totally appreciate that not everyone likes to do that in games.
You were obviously trying to make people mad with the thumbnail lol. Back to the Future 1 can die in a fire too, fuck that game and fuck its shitty controls and one song loop.
Goonies II may be cryptic, but man i love that game 🤩 Seeing you holding up the Batman cartridge in the thumbnail made me think you were gonna include that and it kinda dissappointed me that you didnt, not because i hate the game or anything, quite the contrary really, BUT it would have been interesting to hear someone critique a game that most people love. Anyway...great list regardless. I still wonder who actually green lighted a game based on Platoon 😂
Hahaha. So when I do my thumbnails I'm not inherently trying to be clickbaity, I just grab a game off the shelf. The way I stack my games on the wall, it was easier to grab Batman vs Jaws which was like 7th in the stack lol.
Good list! I agree with 9 of the picks but in other order. But Goonies 2 was a decent game. That I would replace with; Home Alone 2, The Terminator or Back to the Future. Mad Max was a big missed oppertunity of what could have been a good franchise to make a game out of.
I loved your comment on I don't think the people who are making these games ever actually watched the movie. The same can be said about modern movies people who didn't actually watch the cartoon show or the book or comics as a kid are in charge of a production they know nothing about then wonder why the fans get pissed at them. instead of hiring someone who has a passion for the source material and will get the content right. Your Cool World review reminded me if they would have tried to make a movie game out of Repo Man or something like that totally impossible to get right as a game.
Love your videos man! XD I see I'm not even the first to comment about The Goonies II, but SAY WHAAAAT!?!? LOL I loved, loved, LOVED THIS GAME when I was a kid! And it isn't just nostalgia, or maybe it is...but I replay this game every other year or so, loving it for basically all the reasons you say you don't love it! I love the exploration aspect, the music, the controls, the different weapons. Especially the wet-suit levels. I actually recommend THIS game when friends are looking for classic NES gems. But I respect that it isn't for everyone.
I call BS on that....GODZILLA WAS SUPER FUN!!! Well, I enjoy it anyway. Cool vid. Some games on here I didn't even know existed, and they look pretty terrible.
Godzilla, Goonies 2 and Untouchables are games I was rather sad to see here. I would have definitely put The Terminator by Mindscape in this list, as it has some of the worst jump mechanics I have ever seen in a game, and it's near unplayable. Not to mention the graphics are horrible, about on par with Total Recall. I enjoy Terminator 2, but the first game is absolutely terrible!
All these rated r games for nes.😂 ah yes, no religious views, sexuality, but Rambo, robocop, predator, alien just fine! Too bad we never got a goodfellas beat em up or shooter. And hell where’s boyz in da hood?😂
I remember playing and enjoying Home Alone on the Sega Genesis. I didn't know that they made it on the NES. It looks like I didn't miss much. What is your take on the Genesis version?
Glad you didn’t pick Rambo or Willow. I think those are both decent guide games. Totally agree with total recall. I think I made it about as far as the apartment room before I decided that enough was enough
As long as I don't see the NES movie games of Batman and Star Wars here, everything on this list is likely to be spot on. NES movie tie ins were for the most part the absolute s*its.
I cant figure out why i subbed to your channel....i disagree with 99% of your takes...Godzilla is literally my favorite NES game 😂 Now Godzilla 2 is absolute dog shit.
For what we had at the time, that game was fun. It’s trash according to today’s standards definitely. They could’ve programmed it much better but for what it was, it was fun
I'd be interested in a Top Ten BEST Movie NES Games now. Just a thought, but I think the lists would be better organized if all the HMs were at the beginning instead of scattering them throughout the list. Also, I checked, there isn't any Total Recall game on the SNES (at least not in the USA, I don't know about other countries), so your friend might have been playing some other Schwarzenegger game.
I do the Honorable Mentions that way because they score the same way, I'm sure throughout time I'll adapt it, might be better for RIGHT before #1. And you're right, I was thinking of True Lies on the SNES!
0:00 0:02 Thaire are Movie games on Nes thai aren't bad Every Batman game is amazing and I still love them Gremlins 2 and the !New! Ghostbusters 2 is amazing and I have a lots of fun with them With Willow and Rambo you can have a lots of Fun I like Jaws because his Arcade still and the nice mischmasch between Ataris Aqua and Sea adventure Because it is challenging and very tacticale you can have fun with nightmare on elmstreet It is hard as Hell but Bram Staklers Dracula is also very nice made I like it to play sometimes just for the arcade feeling; back in the future 1 Disneys Mermaid and little Nemo the Dreamaster are very nice and challenging made game And I like data easts robocop 1 The both from Ocean I hate them
I have a personal vendetta against Terminator 2 for NES with its crappy controls and constant enemies you HAVE to beat up and require like 200-something punches each. Even with a turbo controller, it's way too much a chore..
Hey man! I was able to find that Disney CRT TV you have at a Flea Market Retro Store here in Baltimore! This shop have everything! If you were here in Maryland and heard of Patapsco Flea Market.. you wouldve loved it!
Fifty Shades of Grey the NES game sounds like a hilarious concept. One thing that seems odd to me is there are tons of R-rated movie based games but I don't recall many PG-13 rated movie based games. I would have loved a Red Dawn based game when I was a kid. Hell I would pre-order one if it was announced now.
PG-13 movies didn't really exist as we know them until close to the end of the NES' life cycle. Back when the PG-13 rating was created, it only really indicated slightly less gore & violence, & a maximum single use of the F-Word.
I beat Hook and Goonies II from this list. RoboCop 2 (from the same developer of Hook) is worse. Now I'm interested in A Fifty Shades of Grey NES platformer.
Home Alone and just about anything LJN were the pinacle of trash for the NES. If they would not have published these games the NES would have been even more revered.
Robocop was the most decent game I can think of from Ocean and that isn't saying much. Beam Software was awful for the NES. But they actually had some good titles on other systems. Blades of Vengeance on Genesis. MechWarrior for the SNES was a gem.
Plaese Plaese plaese Play Robocop 2 Darkman Home Allone 2 And Friday the 13 You will hate this eyes piercing graphics this krytik gameplay this horrible musik and this broken controlls more than a iceball the sun
@Fortefyre robocop 1 was ok it tried to follow the movie very well It has arcade still changeball weapons the original score But Robocop 2 my god I hate it so much the kindergardenbook graphics, the brutal slipy control, the horrible score, that you so often shoot exidently hostages or do not find the secret nuk room and than the thing you have to restart all the level plus the brutal time-limit Yeaiiiiiks This also kills the nes alien game it could be so much better without the brutal time limit Actually Robocop 2 Bettlejuice And Bart versus the Space mutants Are 3 of my most hated Nes Games
@jsmith3946 I tolerate your opinion that you think Friday the 13th is a really good video game! I would like to tell you why this thing are horrible bad for me, even by Ljn's standards. It has 0 replay value for me If you know the trick with the hut between the woods then you will need less than 5 minutes to play the game tru. The graphics and sound are torture as are the 2 combat controls against Jason. If you know the shortcut you don't have to do anything with the caves, the huts and the characters, George is much more than you need. And then Jason, he looks so goofy in this game, especially in the end screen, that it breaks my heart
I was a little disappointed you didn't include the JAWS NES game, but I guess you wanted to go for some more unknowns instead of just rehashing what everyone else had done.
