I'm gonna have to go with Heat, Dead Again, The Good The Bad And The Ugly, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, The Godfather, Terminator 2, Smokey And The Bandit, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Blob(1988), Predator, The Departed, Gangs Of New York, Blade Runner, Gremlins, A Christmas Story, Batman Return, The Addams Family, Scarface(1983), E.T., The Great Silence, Frankenstein(1931), True Grit(1969) and True Grit(2010) Hailee Steinfeld is amazing as Mattie and just like anyone else with a brain, Star Wars and Back To The Future trilogies.
Btw we have something in common. Even though i like films from every decade since the 1920s, for me the 70s, 80s and 90s were the best for films. I was born in 1980 though.
Great video Steve ! I reckon 8-10 of your choices would definitely be in my own top25 and a bunch of them would be contenders. The Star Wars trilogy has to be up there, like you Empire is my favourite but for me Jedi is #2, I get why some don't like this one or just don't rate it highly but I love it myself (minus the changes made in the special editions ofc, I always skip that stupid song that was put in, just as I always skip a few bits in the SE of the original Star Wars). I'd also include the Raiders trilogy, once again my favourites are a little different, Temple of Doom is my favourite with Raiders coming in a very close 2nd and Crusade in 3rd. Alien/Aliens are classics and would be in ! Terminator/Terminator 2 are classics and would be in ! "The Matrix" and "Pulp Fiction" would also be in. "Die Hard", "Jaws", "An American Werewolf in London" and "The Holy Grail" would very likely be in there too...after that our lists would differ a fair bit, I like a lot of the movies in the rest of your list ("Fargo", "Halloween", "The Thing" and "Poltergeist" especially)...so many great movies, so hard to narrow it down to just 25. A few that would definitely be in my own top25 would be "Forrest Gump", "Excalibur", "Conan the Barbarian" and "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"...I'd have to think long and hard about the remaining spots ! 🙂
some interesting choices. fargo was a surprise. but such a classic. i went to a special screening of that in hollywood when i lived out there before it opened. i used to get invites to most focus features films. was a a great time. here’s my controversial take: i like Dawn of Dead remake better than original. i’m down in south carolina working and cool theater across street once a month does old horror screenings called Terrorvision and next month are showing Dawn remake and i’m looking forward to seeing it cause i didnt see it originally in theaters. I watch Jaws every summer too along with Meatballs and Bad News Bears. Good list dude i’ll even let the kevin smith slide…. hahaha.
