Now this is where I part ways with a lot of people, my favorite was return of the Jedi, I found the story more intriguing because it focused mostly on Luke, and the Empire a lot of it focused around Han and Leia, and as a guy let me just be honest, a lot of that she’s Bored me to death, and as I watch that movie, I do have to find my sub, skipping huge scenes, a lot of people love it as a classic, but for me it ran a little too long and I could do without a lot of hon and Leah scenes interrupting Yoda and Luke Training. 28:41

He agreed, Directors cut can be more superior than theatrical cuts, for me a perfect example and this is one reason why I never purchased the 4K Blu-ray as of yet is, tropic thunder, Ben Stiller‘s cut is far more superior, there’s certain scenes that are not there that kind of hurt the movie and there were comedic scenes that are cut that also take away from Enhancing what’s already there, it was the first time I watched a directors cut, and significantly liked it better than the theatrical, this is most likely the only movie that I know that I’ve seen that the directors cut is superior, every now and then I’ll get one word it’s a little better, but this is to the point where I just I cannot watch the theatrical cut . 14:01 52

OK, I’m just gonna say this once, I seen other reviewers talk about Lethal Wepen and whether people like it or not let’s just be logical about this, it starts up with a Christmas song, classic jingle, Bell rock and ends with another classic. I’ll be home for Christmas Elvis Presley, awesome classics, it was meant to be a different movie for the time and a Christmas classic, a change of pace of Christmas classics. You also have a lot of scenes with some Christmas tree atmosphere good stuff, merry Christmas will set at least two or three times in the movie and race it guys it’s one of the first action hybrid for the t 17:20 imes.

Rocky is the greatest, most inspirational sports movie. The second best movie in the franchise is Rocky Balboa, because in the speech to his son, Stallone perfectly describes what makes these movies so great. "Its not about how hard you hit. Its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."

Yeah, I can relate on that one, when I was little, I had already an idea of what I liked and one of my two favorite movies was when I was a kid was the fly 1986 and scanners, I didn’t realize they were Kronenberg until I was like 19 like way later like in the 2000s, so yeah I can relate when it comes to that, cool stuff so far 7:52

@@AVAPopCulture yeah, basic instinct didn’t really hit me until later as well, but we rented RoboCop probably a handful of times from the warehouse back in 87, well at least out here in LA, I grew up in the little inner cities around Los Angeles, so the big stores at the time was the warehouse, music plus and Little Asian video owned private stores, we would get videos cheaper there, there is one place called. Need a video that we would go to that was next to a pizza man, good times. I also think it’s funny how people don’t realize certain things, I didn’t grow up with blockbuster, we didn’t hear about blockbuster and Hollywood video until maybe I want to say, 9495 at least around where I was in the Los Angeles area. I mean yeah, I want to say 1994/1995 blockbuster didn’t make its way in until then here in Cali, we also didn’t get a Walmart until like 97.

Wow, good mother effing list, I want to say when I was a kid my brother and I we actually found the nightmare on Elm Street and the 13th movies damn hilarious, I know it sounds odd but we just I mean as scary as they were supposed to be they were actually very very funny to us. I want to see the movie when I was a kid that disturbed me was American werewolf in London, that was one of the first times I kinda was checking outside my window if I heard something a noise at night outside the bathroom window, that scene when he transforms into the wall werewolf in the living room I kinda be looking around my living room you know, thinking, what would I do? I don’t even think I’d be able to run from that thing it’s so fast. 49:46

Yeah, we found Freddy Krueger to be pretty hilarious, and it didn’t help that later in the 90s other people could relate to it, The Simpsons did a pretty good job mimicking the scene where he’s on fire at the end and the screaming, when groundskeeper Willy gets set on fire, I don’t know in between the 80s and the 90s happened so fast for me, in between with children and living color and the Simpsons becoming basically a new genre of sitcom. I also remember back in the day in high school one of my friends found the super Freddy bit hilarious and dream child, I think one of my favorite bits was and part four when he’s making fun of westerns, he’s like you shouldn’t of buried me I’m not dead. I don’t know. This is certain things that was comical to my brother and I, seeing teenagers get hacked up in funny ways in the Friday the 13th movies, they were so much odd. It was just done pretty entertaining, you can tell when they were making some of the Friday the 13th. They had a little bit too much fun doing the kills.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention, I was yes, a huge fan of American werewolf in London, but later when he did the sequel, I felt so betrayed, it was such a bad bad movie. I think that’s the problem today if a movie like that was released, you’d have a lot of people saying it was good, it was it was pretty good,, I could seriously say, American world in Paris dunk. I recently watched it again a couple weeks ago and gotta say still feel some betrayal. I recently purchased the 4K a couple years ago that they did of an American werewolf in London and just because I’m nostalgic, I also have the laser disk remaster from 1995.

Good Will Hunting Here are some honorable mentions, now, none of them are necessarily 26, I might continue my list, I just felt 25 was a milestone, but because my mind might change and I won't be able to just immediately say what it is without giving it a lot of thought, that's why I'm right now just saying them: Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Beetlejuice and Full Metal Jacket. I watch everything and all kinds of movies BUT I was kid in the early 80s going to see a lot of these iconic films open in the theater and right there when the movie rental stores began to open up and become popular - you cant think in terms of how it is today - as a 6 year old kid in rural Georgia in 1985, you weren't seeking out Art-House and Foreign films, nor did you have access to much of that - BUT you could get to the theater and see The Goonies or Ghostbusters etc every chance you could and then wait the looong stretch before it made it to Video rental stores or on TV - the truth is, most anyone who was a kid and grew up in that time is probably not being very honest if they say they were all about Foreign and Art House films in growing up in the 80s because the access to them wasnt there...internet wasnt even widely used until I graduated High school lol and there just arent any films since I have been an adult that have stuck with me the same as those - there is a reason Hollywood is going back to those films...

What I like the most from these kinds of lists is seeing how different the lists can be. Besides the First Terminator; you and I dont have any overlaps. Whch is great. Just goes to show how wide spread and diverse the art of film is. Great video man! 🤟🏻

the difference in tastes keeps things interesting...I think age and the movies you grow up with cause variances in lists too! If you werent a kid going to the movies in the 80s, you may not have the same connections with some of these movies etc

Im surprised First blood was that high but i do love that movie. Terminator i agree with not separating em. They wud be number one for me. I can respect rocky being number 1. It is a big part of my life.

@@AVAPopCulture I worked at the theater when I went back to school, it was the best job I ever had to this day. T2, Point Break, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns and many other greats came out during that time. They all hold a special place in my heart. I still have some of the original posters (2-sided ones) that I snagged from those days. But LOTR is definitely my all-time favorite. I know almost every line from the first two, lol.

Only 2 films from before the 80s and no non-American films (unless you count Total Recall as Dutch) and not a single black and white film. Must do better.
@AVAPopCulture
@AVAPopCulture 5 дней назад
why? this is my top 25 movies.... Take your contemporary view out of it - in the early 80s there was barely video rental stores yet much less widespread access to foreign films BUT we could go see Indiana Jones or Star Wars dozens of times in the theater and watch horror movies on one of the 5 or 6 channels we could get without cable in rural Georgia... and when I was growing up, there were massively iconic studio films being released -everything from Rocky and Back to the Future to Terminator, Goonies, and on and on...anyone who was a kid in the late 70s-early late 80s that claims they were all in to foreign films is probably being pretentious as an adult and not very honest.... It's A Wonderful Life was in Black and White by the way, but again, who cares? I have been a film fan my whole life and have been a screen writer and film director for 2 decades, I dont need to pretend to have favorties to look sophisticated LOL - my first TV was black and white so literally everything I watched was black and white...it isnt like now where you can stream any film from anywhere at any time
@SpaceCattttt
@SpaceCattttt 5 дней назад
@@AVAPopCulture Touched a nerve? Look, I grew up in the late 70s and 80s, just like you, and I will admit that I didn't get seriously into cinema until I reached my 20s. But when I did, I made a conscious effort to actually expand my horizons beyond my own country. If you don't want to do that, hey, how American of you. But you're seriously missing out.
@AVAPopCulture
