I am about to try starting out with weddings. I only have one camera body and am hoping it with my 24-70 2.8 will be good enough until I can afford a second body! I also own a 35mm 1.4 and a macro 90mm 2.8. I just would have to switch lenses when I absolutely need them! I'm thinking possibly the 35mm for reception since it can go down to f/1.4.
Are you going to be second shooting or lead shooting? I’d say, if you’re shooting weddings on your own, a second camera body is a must as backup, because things can go wrong and you want to make sure you’re fully prepared to capture someone special day. Would you consider renting one? But I’d say you can use your 24-70mm all day 🤍 but definitely invest in a flash for the reception- you don’t want to rely on ambient lighting only :) I actually have a video on how to use flash for weddings and how to second shoot weddings. @@mjcarneiro thank you so much!!! I'm going to be second shooting first! Probably at least 2 or 3 times before being a lead! I may even hire a second shooter for my first wedding at LEAST. But thank you for the advice!! It makes me feel better for sure!! I have two flashes (one for on camera and one for off!) that I'm learning how to use! I will DEFINITELY check out you're video thank you!! I only have one camera body and will get another when I can afford one but I will probably Need to shoot at least a wedding or two before I can! The chances of something going wrong are so slim I don't necessarily want to bar myself from even Starting because I only have one body.
Maria, you said that the 28mm isn't wide enough on the Tamron 28 75 and hence you went for the 24 70 2.8. Can you please let me know in what instances would this lens be an issue? Why would 28mm not be wide enough, I would like to know what potential issues I could run into. I am in love with the size and weight of the Tamron, hence the question.
Yeah, the weight and size of it are definitely an advantage! But there have been moments when I wished I had the 24mm. For example, group photos where I couldn’t fit everyone without taking more steps back or grabbing a chair to step up, the walking downs and exits narrow/small aisles, and capturing landscapes… It’s definitely my personal preference. I'd say you can work around it. I still have my Tamron 28-75mm, but I mostly use it for traveling because of its size and weight :)
I have the 70-200 too, i used to use it white a lot before (24-70 and 70-200 for ceremony), but I’ve been loving the 24-70mm paired with a prime lens (85mm for me) I’d say you don’t actually need it! What do you use at the moment for the ceremony?
The last week I made a wedding alone , I use the sony 50mm 1.2 and tamron 28-75 and for the ceremony I use the sigma 85mm 1.4 with the 50mm maybe I had to use the combo like you with the 28-75 to have more wide shots .
Oh that’s a good kit for weddings! But yeah having that 28-7mm on you during the ceremony is quite necessary, as you’ll need some wide shots for sure. If you like the prime look, then consider investing on a 24mm or 35mm and pair with your 85mm to get those wide shots during ceremony, reception, etc. But if you don’t want to spend money now, then just use your zoom x
Thinking of buying the Tamron 28 75, is this a professional durable enough lens? I have tried it out and love the form factor. Glad to see a comment on here of somebody using the Tamron.
@@MaziahMiranda well for the price it's ok I take care of my lenses but if you want the most durable lenses you have to go to the GM , if you think you can buy a couple of this and have a backup for the price of the gm haha but also think in the weight this so light compared to sigma or sony .
I have the 100mm Sigma macro lens, but I don’t think it's a necessity. I don’t even bring it to weddings because I believe that my 24-70mm and 85mm combo is the perfect wedding kit. In fact, I can get really nice and sharp ring shots with my 85mm, even though I know the 100mm macro is a beast of a lens.
@@mjcarneiro Nice! This indeed sounds like a great combo. I often talk to people who say I shouldn't even try wedding if I don' t have two bodies, 24-70, 70-200 and couple of primes but you showing that it can be done.
you look awsome and the info you provide is very good but if you are reading a teleprompter you should center it more because you not looking straight to the lens ,just an observation.
