Thank you for your reviews! Really liking my Saucony Xodus Ultra 2's. A little bit of a step up from the Asics Gel Venture 8! Although on shorter runs the Asic's work just fine and a lot less expensive! Thanks again for steering me toward the Saucony's!

I am so glad to see NB Summit Unknown in your top 3 list! The first version was one of my favorite trail shoes ever, felt like a racing road shoe with minimal Cush and plenty of beefed up traction to handle just about anything! I haven’t ran in NB in a while as I’m still using my Inov 8 G270’s that simply refuse to die (over 900 miles and graphene rubber still going strong) but will seriously consider Summit Unknown’s in near future, thanks and keep up the great reviews!

350 miles in my Xodus Ultras so far (bought because of run4adventure review). Everything Cornwall can chuck at it on trails and a fair amount of tarmac lanes. Up to 50k in single events. An absolutely wonderful product. No feet issues, no rubs, upper is like new, couple of the lugs worn off the back outside due to my gait. I'll run them to breaking point and then buy some more.

Hi Lloyd, I tried all your recommendations for my recent 50k trail jungle run in Malaysia. However, I couldn't get the same feel in my Exodus Ultra 1's or Fujilites, or Soloman Ultra Glides so I picked up the Hoka Techton x2 and boy those shoes were amazing! I ran my jungle 50k and they performed well. Now this is my first 50k with 2100+meters of elevation in 90+ heat and high humidity here in Malaysia but the shoes tackled the technical parts (most of the race was super technical-roots, tripping vines, deep ruts hidden by jungle grass, steep climbs and steep declines) and the switch to the road sections the Hoka's came a live! I can't wait to try out the Ultras 2 you speak of-we do not have them in Malaysia yet...don't know if we will get them. There is a huge contingent of Fuga and Kailas teams here.

Love the Xodus Ultra, which I have two pairs of, and they still have plenty of miles left in them but I could not resist getting the XU2. Took it on my first run of 10 miles over the weekend and it is indeed even better - mainly due to the better-fitting and more breathable upper. And, yes, it looks better too. It can pretty much handle anything and everything with the ideal balance between comfort, traction, speed, agility, and ruggedness. For me, the fit is right in between the XU and Peregrine 13, about as perfect as can be. I have a lot of trail running shoes but, currently, my rotation has been the XU, Peregrine 13, and the Mafate Speed 4 and it seems XU2 will now become my go-to for most of my trail runs. Interesting to hear that this NB shoe is so good. I do have my eyes on the upcoming NB SC Trail.

I literally had my first run in my Saucony Xodus 2 yesterday. My wife is training for Fastest Known Time on the Long Trail in Vermont. The trail has been absolutely brutal and destroys shoes. So far we’ve been training on the trail for 7 weeks. I bought a pair of Salomon Glide Max TR to replace my Hoka Speedgoats (325 miles on them) they only lasted 92 miles of training. Granted the conditions are super gnarly right now, everything muddy and soaking wet. After 92 miles the shoes were definitely stretched out probably two sizes too big lol and I could never get the right fit. So I had to stop wearing that shoe after 126 miles. They are officially retired. So yesterday I finally got the chance to take out my Saucony Xodus 2 on their maiden voyage run. Fortunately, for them the run was six hours lol on gnarly Vermont Long Trail. The trail was super wet, the root and rock were slick as ice and obviously muddy everywhere. So the run was six hours and we managed 20 miles with 5000 feet of of vert. I only had to adjust my laces once and that was my fault because I tied them a bit tighter than I had to. Once i locked the heels in I had a perfect fit, you don’t have to crank down on the shoelaces. After this brutal run I had zero damage to my feet which is rare for new shoes in gnarly conditions. I’m looking forward to seeing how they hold up after 100 miles. But so far so good. Thanks for the review.

Hoka SG5 was a let down for me. The fit was off and the upper feels very stretchy whereby i need to tighten several times during my long run. Sold it for a NF Enduris 2 and was surprised by its comfort during my long runs. Using it for training as it gets rather heavy when wet and the tongue slide. Will need to replace my racing shoes Kailas Fuga Pro4 soon. Interested with Glide2 but your review have made me wonder about Xodus2 as I’m using Saucony for most of my road shoes. Keep up with the great video!

Best shoe for me this season is by far TNF Vectiv Eminus. Perfect fit for my foot, midsole is soft and bouncy but still gives a lot of speed with the plate in the forefoot and grip more than decent. A bit unstable on the real technical trails but otherwise useful for everything. Runner up is the TNF Vectiv Enduris 3 and it could very well take first place overall but I haven't run so many miles in them yet. Worst shoe is definitely the Speedgoat 5. Found a great offer on them and gave them a shot. Never have and never will understand the Hoka hype. Fit is awful and the midsole is firm and dense. So after 1 run painfull run i sold the shoes.

The fuelcell compound is different on the Summit Unknown compared to the Rebel V2. It's a lot softer on the Rebel because it's a raid shoe. The Summit Unknowns midsole is firmer, it's more the fit and feel of the shoe that reminds me of the Rebel V2 👍 Thanks for watching 🙏

My ultra3 v2 has big gaping holes on the sides of the tongue which lets a lot of dirt and debris in the shoe. Otherwise very nice shoe for all kinds of trails - may not be the fastest and bounciest but still very good. Replace the insoles for the sense 4 pro and they will drain very fast! I wish I could find another shoe with such a good balance between flexibility and comfort as sense4pro. Pulsar trail pro upper with low, narrow and flexible midsole would be just about perfect!

After buying and running the Xodus Ultra 1 for 80k now, I have to say that they have two main issues: even when they are kind of narrow, i find myself sliding side to side inside the shoe. And that's in technical and no so technical terrain. The second issue is the sole. It gives me no confidence at all. Slippery in wet terrain, in humid rock, in misty dust, ... I'm used to vibram, so when these two problems are combined it means twist and shout.
@Oleg_Kol
@Oleg_Kol Год назад
I am glad someone else brought it up. All the reviews claim excellent grip but it is not as good as vibrant on my Hoka SG5 on wet trails (roots and rocks) or even dry loose gravel on the uphill sections. Other than that great shoe for the price (currently $60 in the US)

I've heard a few people say they've had issues with the outsole but I've never experienced this? I think it depends on the terrain you're running on 🤔 I would agree, it's not as good as Vibram megagrip but let's be honest, what rubber is 👍 Thanks for watching 🙏

Nnormal Kjerag is better than anything else under $200 by far and I don't see it mentioned by too many running channels. Not a fan of high stack shoes like Hoka for trails and their durability is a question mark too.

I was so very disappointed with the Saucony Endorphine Edge. No Outsole grip in wet, have a bit wider fot but my feet are feeling like swimming in these shoes. Not good enough heal lock. But the biggest disaster is the upper and the tongue…. It’s so much to much. Given me chafing on side and up my feet. The tongue is to long on both sides in the inside of the Shoe and get roll and curly inside. Lading system sucks. They put so much useless on the upper and around What give you triggerpoints… and this pricepoknt…

Hoka has almost like a cult type followibg. Maybe its great marketing, but their shoes are rarely best in class. When it comes to speed shoes, its Nike, Adidas, Mizuno. New Balance is much better for recovery shoes with their More and SC trainer line.
@Run4Adventure
@Run4Adventure Год назад
I'm not sure you can say Hoka have a cult following? They're one of the fastest growing running brands in history and they've had a massive impact on running shoe development 🤔
@luisprieto4589
@luisprieto4589 Год назад
@@Run4Adventure what I'm trying to say is that 9/10 people who aren't really infused in the running word will pick up a Hoka if they're seeking comfort without even looking at other shoes. For instance, at least for my feet, and for many top reviewers, the NB More V4 was through most comfortable max cushion shoe last year and they also last quite a bit and most non-runners aren't even aware of their existence. There are lots of people that will say a model like the Clifton is more cushioned than say More v4, Nimbus 25, SC trainer, triumph 20 when they're clearly not, and that's what I mean with cult like following. Now, I agree, Hoka has contributed greatly in short time and they're obviously great at reaching people. With that said, I do want to try a pair of their new marathon shoes.
@Run4Adventure
@Run4Adventure Год назад
@@luisprieto4589 You're right, the NB MORE V4 is definitely softer than a Hoka Clifton but the reason we're seeing all these super soft shoes now is because of Hoka. It's always the case when a company comes up with a new concept first they will be very popular because they've been doing it the longest. I'm sure all the other running brands will catch up and I'm pretty sure a lot of runners know about the super cushioned shoes from NB. I worked in running retail for 10 years and I sold just as many cushioned Saucony and NB shoes as I did Hokas 👍😊
@luisprieto4589
@luisprieto4589 Год назад
@@Run4Adventure those are very good points. I have nothing against Hoka as I'm looking to buy a pair of their rockets, but it just kind of slightly bothers me to see so many people not know much about shoes. Yet again, most people aren't runners. So many great shoes nowadays.

@@Run4Adventure Well. You're too old to misspell and misapply "to." Considering you're coming from a country where the English language was developed, you would think that fact combined with age would assist in you sidestepping such trivial errors. And who wants to grow up? Usually those who want to productively contribute to civilization and be a well-adjusted, producing member of society. Being forever subject to the whims of trendiness and short-termism is where civilization does NOT come from. That is a sign of an infantile, naïve worldview. Come on man. Just humbly take the suggestion and don't obligate a very self-explanatory deposition. Ugh. 😒
