Zen! NO! I love doing art and don't want to do Ron L Hubbard pulp designs ..... Joking aside, perhaps I have found an art niche that people like as I have sold a few items on various POD sites. I do find that when people buy and return they don't do likes and follows but any likes are from fellow designers. Great tutorial as always and thank you for sharing.

Another excellent video, thanks for sharing your insight… Some folks with AMAZING designs or photos manage to carve out a niche after Redbubble chooses to put them on the front page of results as a “Featured Artist.” They also feature those artists on e-mail campaigns..That boosted one artist, Alexandra Strambu, I believe is her name, to $20,000 in sales from ONE photo of ocean waves.. If only I could be that lucky…Thanks again for the video….
Your videos are so helpful. I know you're super-busy but it would be great if you could do a short vid if poss on tagging and copyright. I'm confused by seeing Gloria Steinem's name in the tags for 'girl power' in this vid. Last year when I started on Redbubble, one of my designs involving the Welsh city of Wrexham was taken down. I had tagged it 'ryan reynolds' though the design did not have his face or his football club's logo, it was a pastiche in his honour. My design has since been reinstated with an apology but I think it was the tag that got me into trouble. So I'm confused as to what tags you can actually use. Thank you (I do understand if this isn't a topic that would make an interesting video for artists) .
I think that redbubble would benefit from using teepublicsway of implementing tags... Have the MAIN TAG auto dictate what the sub tags will be.... Like this.... Main tag..... Dad Auto subtags..... Dad gifts, daddy, parents, parenting, etc.. That's why I'm putting more of my designs on teepublic cuz it's just EASIER! Same thing with the auto alignment and color selection... (nvidia ceo voice)... "it just works!" Lol Any thoughts?...
Great honest video, but it does prove with the Salt people will buy almost anything. But the problem is getting views in this flooded market of POD . I have over 100 designs and its been just over 1 month and no sales and hardly any views ,. What is the secrete to getting people to my shop ? And doe's it get easier after the first sale does that get the ranking higher ?. I am constantly adding and trying to improve tagging for seo. Am I expecting results to soon ?
Yes you might be expecting results too soon - if you are on Redbubble, you are competing with some stores with over 4000 designs. It totally depends on finding a good niche (sufficient demand but not very many designs), plus the quality of the designs need to be purchase worthy. Keep working and good things will happen, sounds like you are off to a great start!
If you want a video idea, I have some SVG files that I want to sell on Etsy but I am afraid to full the trigger. I am not sure if they are in the right "shape" for sale etc ... So if you could do a step by step and make a listing, I would be eternally grateful.
yes at the end of the day it does not matter what the design ( proves that with Salt ) the thing is getting views in this flooded market then hoping they will buy an expensive overpriced item.
@@Moodboard39 You're absolutely right. You shouldn't spend lots a time and effort building a consistent collection. You should just make a couple things that sell and let it roll.
Odd question: Do you consider KDP (Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing) POD? I tend to think it is if you are just designing notebooks/journals. Just not sure if KDP falls under the POD classification.
I personally consider that passive income - you make a book, publish it and that's about it (hopefully royalties come). I think publishing books is the ultimate in passive income!

Between the quality of your voice, which is very soothing by the way, and you're pacing, which is measured and goes step by step, have you ever thought of teaching an online course? I mean a paid course on a platform like Thinkful, or even using Zoom as the platform, and do the classes there? I think you would be very good at it. I think you could monetize that teaching and do a decent amount of business. Just a thought.
The salt lessens the burn of the tequila. Some people lick some salt and then drink the shot. Then immediately bite into and suck on lime or lemon wedge. The sour fruit balances and enhances the flavor of the tequila. I'm not a tequila guy but I've seen maniacs on vacation do such weird things!
@@zenwatercooler Nor have I ever gone on vacation. Literally. Working non-stop since I was 19. I dread "paid" holidays because it seriously hurts my paycheck.
This is my experience: having a great-looking design in a crowded niche can get sales. Some people really want something specific and will wade through hundreds of designs to get it. The key (in my opinion) is proper tagging-if you have high quality tags (and lots of them), even a few sales will dramatically move the design up the ranks.
I seen thes super simple designs too and I going ...really?! Are we desigining for kids or who...? Do people like real artwork anymore?! Man I'm working too hard. Wow game changer for me. I figure now...ill just do that as long as its paying my rent and car payments...ok. Its selling.i keep in mind tje object of this is too share art but make money too.
I certainly don't want to discourage you or sound negative-if you are enjoying making art, then whatever time it takes, that is great! I am just saying that since we all have the same amount of time, the faster we can get, the more we can produce and the more chances we have at making sales. If you can make artwork that is not easy for someone else to copy-definitely keep doing that!!
