Constructive critiques are helpful. Makes people do better and learn what a good design looks like and sells. There is a difference between con structive and des tructive..

no matter how good the design is, there are people who don't like it. no matter how bad the design is, there must be someone who likes it.

I've only been doing this a few months and I'm now up to 650 some odd designs but when I look back at the first designs that I made a lot of them are a reflection of exactly what you're saying here the fund was too small the font was in odd places the pictures were strange the concept was what I wanted to put on a T-shirt and not something that would sell. I honestly believe that continuing to create and watching a lot of your videos and several of the other helpers out there specifically discussing Redbubble has definitely helped me to make better designs and then also looking at some of the professional designs that are for sale at places like creative Fabrica definitely gives you a better idea of colors and better idea of finance and better idea of sizing. I think when you first start out I think that design size seems like it should be something just at the top of the t-shirt and that you really shouldn't expand beyond that and now I've gotten to the point where I fill up the entire t-shirt someone should tell designers that fill up the whole shirt

I wanted to say again thank you for all of the effort you put into these videos I hope that they are worth it to you I know they're worth it to me because I'm terribly frightened of making a mistake. I find your voice calming and when hearing your story I know that things are possible. I don't want to make a killing I just want to know that it can work if you try. So thank you for your Channel period if no one has said Thank you recently, this is my thank you and I include everybody who has forgotten to say thank you but really means it!! Everything you said is correct. Some people are so busy with uploading as many designs as possible that they don't bother looking at the end results on the product. Another reason might be they are using an automated uploader which has no artistic or common sense ability.

I remember my early designs they were dire, and some don't work out today, but slowly as I educated myself with art packages from Inkscape/Photopea to now Infinity Designer, I am able to rehash 3rd party design packs with ease. Having templates set up to copy & paste, adjusting backgrounds to fit the product, making sure that the design is in the right size & position for the correct product. My final design will have maybe 7-8 templates, but with them, I am armed & ready to input on all my platforms.

I accept what you said in the video . But how can we create designs which looks great and nicely appeal on every coloured shirt. If thats the case should creat our artworks based on produts product colours what is efficient process. Also Please make a video on this topics in a way How you make designs by choosing what colours of fonts , what font styles, what type of graphics and pictures you use and overall how you create a winning design.

Regarding stickers, usually people have a white version available for transparent stickers, and it ends up looking weird when you're suggested the matte version. RB doesn't let you choose which kind of sticker you want to sell, you either have to select all or select none.

Fantastic job, as always. I would like to see one on why "fine art" doesn't sell, and how to make it so that it would sell. I do fine art, and have a redbubble as well as several other stores (FAA, Society6, etc), and NOTHING ever sells. So, yes, I'm sure it's because it's fine art, and I'm looking into other avenues, but it would be interesting to know your thoughts on why fine art doesn't sell. Thanks.

That's a really good question - I have had a different experience (mostly on Displate) where certain designs sell like crazy and others get no traction. I will definitely take this away and see what I can do (it might be the site or it might be the design). Thank you for the suggestion!

@zenwatercooler
@zenwatercooler 2 года назад
Hey there - generally speaking, if you are using a trademarked property (and anime characters are most likely trademarked) then you could run into trouble if the trademark holder contacts Redbubble and files a trademark strike. I would recommend sticking to public domain assets and text (or original artwork that does not contain properties that are owned by other companies).

Please do a video on how to actually choose the correct font sizes. I am very confused as to the PRINT SIZE of a font. Usually when it is 300 dpi and you print it the the fonts are a different size when you print it if the file is 72 dpi. What is the best Physical size of a font on a tee shirt? I want to design some tee shirts and I want the font size on the tee shirt to be 1 inch. How do I know if that will be the case once I upload my design to Redbubble? Please reply. A video on this would be a great help for all beginners like me.

I uploaded 800 designs to Redbubble this is what I learned - people will stealing your designs, making copy right claims against you on the designs you created and uploaded to your store, for all the hard work I put in Redbubble wanted to delete my account instead of dealing with the issue in hand. Unless you make designs that suck then nobody will touch them.

Mine are fully of color and very vibrant, maybe too vibrant for some though. Will see. I like how you pointed out the different iterations that could come up and have been looking at the designs to get ideas.

It's a good question - I gave up trying to figure out what people want and pretty much just upload stuff that I personally like (stuff that I would actually buy and wear). But even if it is "out there" - there might be a group that loves it. Redbubble only costs time so might as well throw up 50 designs and see what happens!

How do you feel about adding a stroke to lettering to make it work on white or black shirts? I have a solid black design with a quote - not going to work on black shirt. I added a filled frame behind and put the coloured text around the frame. Some colours don't read well on black other's don't work on white. So I added a stroke but not sure how well they print on POD items. Would it be better to create different ones for black and white shirts. As you showed the black box problem, probably works fine on white or coloured clothing. Thanks if you have any advice.
@zenwatercooler
@zenwatercooler Год назад
I think you are bang on - adding a drop shadow or a stroke to the design can make a huge difference. I completely agree! I will often create 2 (or more) variants of the same shirt - so one with text for example and one with a stroke and then one with a shadow. That way the customer has options!

yes the black cat is not really there - the design is only the sunset and two eyeballs. So you can create the cat (using Photoshop or Inkscape) and then just remove the cat, leaving the negative space.

In regard to the copy rights you spoke about. I get a lot of my designs from Creative Fabrica and always choose POD licensed art. If I can edit I sometimes will but most are just as is. Is this something that I shouldnt be doing?
@zenwatercooler
@zenwatercooler 2 года назад
Well there’s 2 authorities in your example: Creative Fabrica and Redbubble. So CF is saying “go ahead” for print on demand. But if someone uploaded that design to RB first, then they could claim copyright if you upload the same video. So you don’t need to change the image if you are selling on your own website, but I would recommend modifying the image if you are selling on a marketplace platform (like Redbubble).
@danniphillips1342

I have a question about doing the Redbubble designs - my store is only new I only have 8 designs yet. I feel slowed down by the design process. When I upload a design to Redbubble then I go through all the images to make sure they are on each product correctly - size, placement etc but then after I save and view my designs there’s a bunch of products that are not shown in the initial design process and the images show up all wrong. My question is - how can I fix these extra products if they don’t show up on the editing page?
@zenwatercooler
@zenwatercooler 2 года назад
There are some products (mostly the shirts in the top row of your design page) that are hardwired to be a certain way. I typically upload a "light" and a "dark" variation of my design. So white text/graphic and then a black text/graphic design. But yes there are some designs that won't look good (don't worry about it - just make a variant).

Hi. I recently went to placeit for a mockup of my design. However, the problem is that my design keeps appearing on the middle of the shirt despite the fact that I raised the design in canva before I uploaded to placeit. also, the design itself looks blurry and faded regardless of image res. Is this a sign of a dud design? or could something else be at play here?
