Yes the big names need to be mentioned to appeal to a wider audience, the Tour Edge C722 deserves a mention but not likely a popular choice….however it’s in my bag and out performing the others. Great year of videos and looking forward to your content in 2023!
I can't afford the TSR drivers and settled for the Mizuno STZ 220 driver. With the current discount, it's half the price of the TSR's. I really like it. The look, forgiveness and sound are all top notch. I'm glad I bought it.
I agree....on the review of the Mizuno 220 G and Z models earlier in the year they performed very well and were 'in play' every time. Not forgetting the £200+ saving over Titleist or Stealth. I think of it as like throwing in a free rescue club, putter, wedges or half a dozen lessons. No brainer really....
Great video, as always! IMO Cobra LTDX LS is the best driver in 2022. Amazing ball speed and a lot of forgiveness for an LS model. Not even the TSR line has been able to improve it. On the other hand TM Stealth was a big dissapointment. Great ball speeds but minimum forgiveness even in the non plus head.
I hit em all, and will no question keep my zx7 driver in the bag ...so much adjustment options with 0 complication, highest ball speeds and most accurate driver i swung
I tried all of these drivers and bought the TSR driver, and TSR2 Fairway woods. The distance, the dispersion, and the absolute control is so much better than the other drivers. I am happier with Titleist than I have with any golf purchase in 25 years.
Tsr 2 to me is perfection. Had it for couple of months and changed my driving completely long forgiving and finding lots and lots of fairways.. I've played taylormade past 2 generations sim 2 max was a fantastic driver , stealth I just couldn't get along with it huge drop off on distance, I can't wait to check out the ping 3 wood in g430 I currently have g410 love it but would like an extra few yards
Tsr3 all day!! I could game the 2 as well but it was just a little to high spinning for me. Tsr3 also just looks and sounds that little bit better. Rogue st max ls is right there too. I loved the look, sound and feel I just got a little better dispersion with the tsr3 for what ever reason. Didn't like the stealth as much as the sim or sim 2. Super super fast out of the middle but the stealth plus is the most unstable head of 2022 and the stealth spun way too much.
Great review Michael..I still play the Cobar F 9 driver...Great driver and results for me are as good as the newer LTDX driver...Thanks...Oh Happy Holidays....
Alex Etches has put a review on the G 430. He loves it, so will look forward to your review in January. I got fitted for Callaway ST max. Works ok for me. ( 80% of the time 😅).
Coming from the TSi3 to the Rogue Max LS was game changing for me. I don't think I have ever felt more confident with a driver before. In the last year my handicap has gone from 16 to 10 and a lot has to do with solid drives. Not sure I will change drivers for a few years now. However, if I do get that bug, I will try the TSR and the new Paradym from Callaway.
I'm going from TSr3 to Triple Diamond to cut down on spin. Pretty close. I think on a mediocre day, TSr3 will be better because it's more forgiving. On a good day, TD will edge it.
TSR3 was my choice as well, sold the Stealth plus and haven't looked back. Minor note but hated not being able to see the ball mark on the red face and just had a hard time keeping it in the fairway despite shaft changes.
Merry Christmas -- I agree completely - the Ping and Titleist is my number once. I am not a huge fan of the others. Keep up creating this great content. All the best in the New Year.
michael you are bang on with your top 5 although I have a different order, tsr, cobra , rogue , stealth , ping. I enjoy hitting the ping I just can't get past the sound and the turbulators .
I have used the ping g425 max driver pretty much since it came out. I do like it but my local pro shot stocks the titleist drivers and I’ve been thinking for a while about testing them
Have to agree with the #1 pick. I had the F9 stand by firm with saying best driver made in recent years. Bought the tsr3 after a fitting, which went really well. After a few rounds straight into buyers regret couldn’t hit a fairway or a decent shot. Couple of practice sessions and a few more rounds. I am deeply in love with this driver now. Named her Lucille as she is deadly.
When it’s about bottom line numbers, dispersion , feel, distance are 1,2,3 so Ping’s 425 Max des require a learning curve on noise and setup BUT once you have a routine the sound is musical feedback that you will cherish. So; my 2023 objective is to dust off my 425 and get loud!
I sell golf clubs and we have tons and tons of complaints about the stealth. One customer had 9 of them crack. He then went with the ping. Taylormade quality has been terrible for about last 5 years. Customer service really bad too
Hi Michael, I'm based in Carlisle haven't played for months, so I'm joining a club ASAP. My question is I have a Nike covert driver from brand new. Its showing its age I reckon now. Struggles to alter the threads I think are bust. I'd love a driver lesson with all the new drivers or whatever was recommended to me to see the difference between the covert and newer clubs. I'm also wristy so lose distance with irons and driver
I'm surprised that you didn't include the Mizuno ST-G. My recollection is that you liked that one quite well, when you tested it. Particularly considering that you seem much less than keen on the Stealth in this presentation.
Fairly predictable bunch but I’m sure a well fitted G400 Max or G400LS would give this bunch a run for the money. The Scottish ( ex Astrophysicist) designer of the G400LS is on record saying optimal conforming numbers were achieved in that model, anything exceeding that is non conforming.
@@MichaelNewtonGolf Acushnet already running ‘sales’ here in US before Christmas. Manager @ local PGA Superstore said more markdowns coming after Christmas- they just sent out $50 coupons on $200 purchase…
The Taylor made driver is the best driver ever. It shows how people who get paid more by titleist continue to mislead people. Trust me I’ve hit them all and carbon face Taylor made best in the world.
No it's not! Dont be a hypocrite! You cant hate on someone else for picking their favorite then say something as stupid as any one driver is the best driver EVER! Plus it goes tsr3, rogue st max ls, stealth plus, ltdx ls then a ways behind mizuno st-z. What anybody thinks really doesn't make a damn bit of difference because the best driver is always the best driver for YOU! Ping sounds and looks like hot garbage so I dont rate it at all because I could never game it. The new g430 sounds better but is still ugly!
Absolutely totally DISAGREE with your statement. Everyone is different and for me could not entertain Taylormade junk. TSR without a doubt, and NO I don't get paid, but other people will prefer others.
Totally agree. Got my tsr2 in late November. Had only the chance to play it three times on the course, but i gained some yards and i am hitting the fairway more often. I love it.
