Here's my top 5 favorite trick shots i've ever done. These are all now almost 5 years old. I haven’t watched these in a while so it was pretty fun checking them out again. Giving you some behind the scenes info!
I think it's not all the same, but every competent brand puts out great, quality discs but certain brands are more consistent and there's less "duds"/not very good molds, as things are now, of course they try to improve to perfection. I love graphics of Westside Discs (partly because of the Finnish folklore - Kalevala theme) and they truly have some great discs. Still looks aren't THAT important and i prefer some other discs (for a certain slot) from other discs companies with a design that's possibly not so attractive in comparison. It's nice to have variety of plastics, colors, brands and their style/design and it also comes down to money for me, what's available. I now buy mostly used discs in good/great condition, occasionally new one if it's something that i really need/want.
You certainly deserve to be proud! Your admission of all the hard work it took to accomplish these tricks is a testament to your level of commitment to excellence with all things disc golf : )
To believe you chained out of the RV shot 5+ times before it finally stuck is insane! Glad you guys had the dedication to continue that shot! My favorite by far!
My jaw dropped the first time I watched the bass drop shot. Probably the moment I really became a big Simon fan. I'm glad this was one of his favorites and impressed that he worked at it for 3 days.
I loved these explanations to your legendary trick shots. I would say the episodes can't really get much more interesting but I know that you have the habit of surprising us. Have a good year! I hope we get to film you this year.
Great Video showing fantastic Discskills and Discknowledge! Some Frisbeedia?! @ 2:10 The Freestyle Jamily call this move a "Scarecrow". Well done mate!
Holy crap, that RV shot was just a couple miles from my house! Wish I would have ran into you guys while your were in town! Love all these shots tho! Skills on skills on skills.
Dude, you make disc golf even more fun than it is out on the course! My favorite shot of yours is at La Mirada tournament 2-3 years ago: A ridiculous line that no one but you would have seen, let alone tried; through a gap in the bushes to the right of the tee, over the road on a crazy sky anhyzer, playing plinko through the trees an onto the fairway for a long put. I must have rewound that one a dozen times. LOVE IT, MAN!
I love your attitude, your kindness and welcoming to disc golf. Im currently working on my skill to maybe one day get the honor to play on the same field as you! Keep doing what you're doing brother!
Just seeing this now. Great video and great content in general. Honestly the outtakes of the speed gun one are more impressive to me than the actual successful one. To be that consistent and off by 1 so many times is wild
Yeah I agree that disk maker does not matter. I have several and just try to find something that suits me. It does not matter who makes them! Nice to hear the backstory of these shots! Real fun!
Simon, these were all amazing, but the skate park is #2 for me & #1 was definitely the Motor Home shot! Glad you didn't give up on the shot 😎 Can't wait for 2020 season to begin to see you step up to the Tee Pad once again 💖 The De Jong Family
This video feels very real and authentic. I appreciate you're not trying to be anything you are not. Awesome shots so much work in all of it too I am sure. I am certainly a Sci Man Fan 😜 Cheers
Alighty Simon you have covered almost all of it when it comes to badass trick shots even in somewhat of an official round like when you threw that crazy roller angle 200ft in the sky flexi parking a basket around 400ft away and 100% in flight. But theres an area that you haven't covered or mastered or if you have already I would love to see it, and that's TRICK ROLLERS and more specifically TRICK THROWLERS! I wanna see some INSANE THROWLERS and other ROLLERS of all types. But mainly I wanna see some BIG TIME THROWLERS that touchdown at around 400ft and then roll another 450ft or further, while parking a 850ft-1000ft or more hole! BLOW MY FREAKING MIND PLEASE!!!🤣🤣🤣
I love Hazy!!! I'm there regularly! The course is Arthur O Fisher. The course is incomplete now. They moved the fairgrounds to the park!!! It was one of my favorite courses!!!
You're missing one. The one where you throw two discs, simultaneously, through two basketball hoops as you're jumping through the air. Using your left and right hand. That one.
For the bass drop shot if it was the course really close to Hazy Shade then that is Belmont park, I pretty cool place for disc golf. Also pretty new to disc golf and a big fan of yours. I am from Dayton Ohio so it is really cool to see you lived there briefly during a time I was there!
I remember seeing you in Dayton at one of the courses think it was `15. You were trying the hyzer and strait shot at the same time on 180' hole with josh barnhill filming. It was the week after you won your first major.
I belive in hundreds and hundreds of tries, I am living my life as a juggler for like 14 years now ;P Gotta say, my favourite by far is the first one. Just the concept alone is great, but with flawless execution... oh my, I can watch in on loop for like... couple of minutes probly... but it's a short video ! :D
When Simon said "back when Eagle was still my fan"... he probably meant; back when Eagle was much younger, still had a bunch to learn, and had not built up the Resume he now has. I doubt very much there was some sort of nefarious falling out between them.... although I'm just speculating.
If you ever happen to be back in WV or just driving through and want a good course, go to Valley Park in Hurricane. It has a 4.5 rating on UDisc and is by far my favorite course I've ever played! (There's also a store in the park where you can buy discs, in case anyone that's thinking of going needs any)
"back when Eagle was still my fan" I would love to hear more about this. My mind is running crazy making up all kinds of stories about what this means etc
Eagle was 15 or 16 when Simon started touring. He was a good local pro at that point, but probably still saw the top guys as larger than life superstars, rather than colleagues and friends
I remember the Shots with the Innova Hero Supersonic 215 when that came out in late 2016 or early 2017. You were still on Innova sort of with the Discmania sponsorship in the sense you could use Innova and Discmania discs, not that you really did but Eagle did with 2-3 discs at the time from Innova lineup. Not sure how that works now but Huk lab is still provining the Max for Eagle as Discmania has yet to have a company make a disc for him that is that OS.
amazing video. I just started playing Discgolf and man am i enjoying it but everyone tells me im to old to find a new hobby ( im 39). Now to my question. What part needs the most practice in the beginning is it putting or make distance throws?
