In this video, I'm going to walk you through my go-to top 5 page types that I always use when designing and building my SharePoint Online Intranet sites. ⭐️⭐️
Designing Intranet sites can feel daunting. With the massive variation of options available to us within SharePoint Online, it's so easy to lose track of the bigger picture and target user experience.
The 5 page types I explain and demonstrate in this video will help you develop a page model which can be used in your site design and planning to keep you on track and out of the weeds!
We'll take a look at:
✅ A conceptual page model
✅ How to use it to design your site hierarchy and user journeys
✅ A walkthrough site design using the page model
✅ A live demo of an Intranet site built from the page model
By the end of this video, you should be very comfortable in designing or restructuring any SharePoint Online Intranet site. 🤓

Great Video! I especially like what you did with the Employee Handbook. The Breadcrumb Trail and Section List in particular are great additions.

Great information - easy to understand and put into practice. One small detail - there is a spelling mistake in the text overlay at the 3:39 mark of the video. "Mastercalss"

Love this! How did you do the breadcrumbs?
@Academy365-Dan
@Academy365-Dan 5 месяцев назад
Hi Ascella! That is a very low-fi solution in that I simply create them manually with text and hyperlinks and through the almighty power of text formatting, I make it look like a breadcrumb 😜 It's less work than it sounds, as I'm a big fan of duplicating existing pages to create new ones. When I duplicate a page with the breadcrumb, it's then only a case of updating the text. Hope that answer isn't too disappointing! 😉

Great video as usual 🤩. What tool do you use for the visualizations? (Happy Holidays)

Hey! I use Figma for the visuals. I would be lost without it! I actually have a cool Figma-related video idea I'm working on at the moment, so I'll go into more detail on it soon!

I really like your videos. Our intranet is company-wide and not just for one department. Do you have an opinion about using the same structure you use in the video but swift it one level down?
@Academy365-Dan

Hey Kevin, yea absolutely! I would rarely (if ever come to think of it) build an Intranet that consists of a single site (those are the dark ages of SharePoint and subsites 🤮 😜). The same structure works fine. In my example where I have the HR site plan... imagine drawing a bubble around that and then duplicating it for every site or department in your Intranet. You would then have another bubble (site plan) for your Intranet Homesite. Taking a step back then you can see your whole Intranet Plan where you can then start to make connection between sites and of course, design your Global navigation. Feel free to reach out to me via the contact form on my site and I'd be happy to explain in more detail 😁
