Hi, I'm Dan and I run Academy 365. You can expect a wide range of "How To" videos packed with tips, tricks, and best practices on SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Forms, Microsoft Planner, Microsoft Lists, and other Microsoft 365 applications. We are a little different from many of the M365 videos on RU-vid. We create our solutions and tutorials with a massive focus on end-user experience!
We also like to experiment with solutions to give you examples of how you can push SharePoint Online to replicate some familiar user experiences which you may not have thought possible!
Visit us at the Academy 365 site to check out our training courses. We create courses based on real-world practical use cases and examples so you can get up to speed on what you need and not waste time on what you don't.
Check out our 'SharePoint Intranet Site Builder Master Class' course to learn everything you need to build an Intranet site in SharePoint Online - www.academy365.io
It is super useful video, rewatching and applying, I just want to mention that adding emojis to link type of column, it somewhat seems to mess with the links in content area...
This is fantastic, I echo everyone else's positive comments! I dont have the Ddesign bit in my code either so am unable to hide the framing. Do you have any suggestions?
Great tutorial, as always! I'm fairly new to Sharepoint and am already a fan of your tips and tricks. I use the image web part and mark the image as decorative. That way, users can't interact with it, but it gives me the flexibility of resizing and aligning it the way I want. 🤭
Apologies if I missed this, but why was jaws returned when you typed in "shark"? That term didn't match your movie title or category. Obviously we know its related to sharks, but how did search know?
Immediately running into a concerns, hoped ya'll might have some advice? My child content types inherent a choice column from the parent content type. Each child content type should have a different default value but be able to select other choices instead. 1. If I inherent the column from parent, it seems like the option for default value is not allowed in the children. 2. The workaround might be to not inherit the column, but then if I were to switch content types for an existing doc in my document library it erases the metadata as if it's a totally different column. 3. In the list view I see all the files metadata under one column, but in the library settings you see several with the same name (one column of for each content type)... Is there some merging of columns thing that needs to happen?
Really great overview, thanks! I was wondering if you need to be subscribed to Figma “Dev Mode” in order for the embed code to work? I tried connecting my figma file to my sharepoint site, and I came across a block where I have to log into my Figma account to view. Which will look bad for my sharepoint audience who do not have Figma.
Hi Laura, Custom theme themes that you create don't show the customize option. Only the out of the box themes have that option. When we add the "Accent" colour to the palette, that will be the theme accent colour. Hope this helps
Thanks again for the high quality material! Creating templates is a cinch, but Is it just me, or is adding metadata variables within a Word document an exercise in frustration? For instance, embedding choice column metadata in a Word document often doesn't show all of the choice options, or the choice gets locked in when an item is selected so it can't be changed. Would you consider going a bit deeper into what can be done with templates?
Excellent!! This is truly a first class video in every way; 10 super useful and applicable practical tips. Each tip clearly and concisely articulated with just the right level of detail, well presented throughout with great tempo and pitch! Honestly, you are THE benchmark presenter in your subject. So glad I found and subscribed to your channel. Thank you.
Love the ideas and the designs you are building on SharePoint. Very inspiring for people who need to go beyond the standard site builds. One comment if I may, please show also how all these creations translate into mobile view. Not everything works the same when it comes to responsiveness. Thanks and keep up those videos!!
Excellent tutorial, and much more fun to work through than the usual business content. Of course, I'm learning this to apply to the dry material at work, but I appreciate the change of pace. Thanks a bunch!
Wow! This is really interesting and well presented! You have a new follower 👍 I am starting a new job and SP is my main tool. Do you have a video on how to search/filter on many directories and sub-directories by any chance? Many thanks 😊
Hey thanks for that! Content Types and customising the search experience through the 'Search and Intelligence' options are good ways to do this. I'm thinking of a video on that very subject. Watch that space (very soon!) 😁
Great information - easy to understand and put into practice. One small detail - there is a spelling mistake in the text overlay at the 3:39 mark of the video. "Mastercalss"
@@Academy365-Dan I don't want either but I wish MS realized that they are not really creating impactful changes at the pace that is required. They are simply moving things around getting on the new buzzwords without really moving the needle that much further.
Really amazing video! I have one issue though, I don't have the "Add a background" option when I try to add a background image to a section, I just have the differente background color templates. Am i using an outdated version of Sharepoint or is there an option to toggle that?
I bought the masterclass, just had one question, do you cover hub sites vs home sites? I feel like I should be setting up a hub site so everything is consistent as the intranet grows but I’m not sure
We are using SharePoint to set up an intranet - I would like more flexibility to design our page - So is Figma or Hero the best option? Is there a fee? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Great video as ever. What was the name of the icons plugin you were using in Figma as I can't seem to find it. Apologies, found the link in your description. D'oh
Fantastic video, can't wait to implement this at work. Question, if employees don't have access to the other sites/libraries in the hub, will they be able to view the documents when they are rolled up to the single site?
Thanks for the compliment Southpaww. No, users must have access to the content in order for it to appear in any feed. Rolled-up content will always respect the permissions of the content being rolled up with respect to the user viewing the feed. Hope that makes sense!
Great video and really clear structure!!I wish we had such an advisor in our company (tech company) providing to our clients the real value of Microsoft 365
