mega man 2 had some of the best music on the NES. they should of gave the composer some type of award

journey to silius is one of the greatest soundtracks ever on a 8bit console

Journey to Silius is just on its own tier. I'd put it right up there with the Castlevania and Megaman series. Excellent melodic ideas, great development of moods, and it just sounds like legit metal music only encumbered by the limitations of the era's technology.

That is a SOLID list. Thanks for putting it together. I agree, many of these are really good! I think the music from most games for most later systems really declined after NES. The sound capabilities grew, but the quality of the basic melodies did not. (there are exceptions, such as Symphony of the Night...) There are some surprisingly good songs from surprisingly bad games in there too. :)

Hmmm... my absolute favorite NES track.. That's tough. Normally I'd say something from Mega Man 3 like Top Man or Wily's stage perhaps.. but I think I'm going to go with the first level from Journey to Silius. There's something about that track... Anyway, the NES is filled to the brim with amazing tunes, some obvious like Contra or Castlevania, others more obscure, like Power Blade. It's great!

The music that always i remember is the soundtrack for castlevania 3.to me castlevania 3 has amazing memorable beats and also mario 1 has some great memorable music, i mean who doesn't know mario instantly am i right? Megaman has some classic music too tha stands out in the 8 bit era.

Am I the only one that noticed Gaiden Act4 part 2 sounds really close to Darius Plus/Twin Stage 1/A music (I played pc engine so I think the Darius levels were letters instead of numbers)
