Me and a couple of mates, still quote call outs from fish tales, 30 years after first playing it in the local cafe. That says a lot, the call outs of those 90s Bally/ Williams are timeless, and one of the reasons those games are loved to this day. And nailing the monster fish shot, while the fish roars, and the jackpot counts down, is one the most satisfying shots in pinball
Been absolutely binging this series the past few days. As someone just getting into pinball these videos are super helpful and such a joy to watch. Cheers from New Orleans, Louisiana!
Thanks for the video! Fish Tales was my first pinball machine. 24 more machines later, it's still my favorite in my collection. Of course it all depends on what you enjoy the most in a game: I prefer fast and simple to long journeys, with a super clear scoring system, so you always know exactly where you stand when you're playing against your friends. Most of all, Fish Tales has "flow" in spades, with some shots like the Fast Cast (nailing the ball lock right after the initial orbit) bein' almost instinctive and incredibly satisfying. If you're a pinball wizard, you'll probably play all day long for Super Jackpots and break the game with absurd scores - I've seen it in a tournament - but that's not an issue for a casual player.
I think CGC need to reboot Fish Tales and do a Lionel Richie cross over, I would buy a Lionel Fishie for sure 😂 Again you are most welcome for the video idea, you didn't need to but thanks for the shout out mate 👍
Fish tales, one of my favourites, had fish fingers I played it so much, then i grew ip a bit more and had the other type of fish fingers.... I recently got my custom decals back for my new vpin, which feature artwork flyers from 15 of my all time favourites, if your keen to see it, can email to you. Hopefully some will make it into the top 50 😊
Interesting take. I own a fish tales, and it's a good game. But I'd put it a lot lower than some of these due to lack of shots and somewhat unsatisfying code. Ehoh, Wcs94, and MM are my top 3 from your list. Though I've never actually owned a MM.
I'm well pissed off with my neighbour today. Yesterday he kept playing the same Lionel Richie song over and over at full blast. I wouldn't mind normally, but it was all night long.
Isn't the captive ball a punishing shot? Its one of the most important shots for points too😄 (Fyi ted can be a safe shot if taken from a particular flipper or on launch with ball save. Risk n reward innit, but rs is all about the modes really)
Mate, I just picked up a fish tales over the weekend and I’ve got to say it’s a fabulous game. Can it get repetitive quickly in a small collection? Yes, but it does plenty well in a line up of several games. To me this is a great competition game. Easy to explain, yet hard to master. Challenge your friends to see who can get more jackpots or catch that monster fish. Just like you, I have sterns and have had several sterns, but my collection right now revolves around the wpc classics. FT, IJ, STTNG, MM, TZ….and Im possibly grabbing a Addams! Wpc for the win?
