Waiting for that WTSHTF and prep certainly is something to think about . Two things you should do . Check your inventory and roll over your old stock and replenish it before it loses its shelf life and share your old stock to those who might need it at a food bank .

Got all of this already lol Thanks for spreading the word Cody! Beef jerky, hot dogs, honey, rice, crackers, and canned food (beans/fruit/veggies/meat) is good ya’ll. You can also dehydrate your goods to make ‘em last longer ;)

One caution about canned food: avoid any cans/tins that have been badly dented by poor handling. Once the tin coating gets breached the steel of the can will contaminate/poison the contents.

Thanks, Cody, very timely and very helpful. We never think the worse things will happen but once in a while, they do and best to be prepared! Plan for the Worse, hope for the Best!

I'd buy dry bags for rice, plastic can break. Also I've bought peanut butter/nutbutter packets at Walmart. The squeeze packs are individual 200 call, easy for hiking, also they sell honey packs, both packs are very tough. Great channel man.

Peanut butter is another good one. Lots of healthy fats.

@@CavemanCodyyour last video on birch tapping was great, I live in MA my town is 500ft higher than my grandma's house and I was able to tap the tree there but my town hasn't started yet. Also do you have any experience with birch poly pore or chaga mushroom tea.

@@dgundeadforge17 great to hear you had some success. I do not. I have been looking for those mushrooms and have not seen any so far

@@CavemanCody I found some chaga but it's 15ft off ground, I'd need a tree limb pole saw. I read a science journal on oxalate poison from chaga tea. The lady was old and had like 2-3 teaspoons in tea every day. I think it's better to have little amounts not every day.

Stay safe Cody. Yeah we got things happening here down-under also. Got me plenty of herbs and spices to go with that rice.

Sardines in oil! Absolutely essential, and the oil provides extra calories where water won't. Olive oil is preferred, obviously, but you're using these up when you've no other options, and so sunflower and soya oil types would be fine too.

Even for those not worried about the virus the noteworthy problem is the strained food supply chain right now. Prior prepping could relieve the pressure on the supply chain

Ramen stresses your digestive tract. A video shows that even after two hours, your stomach cannot break down highly processed noodles, interrupting normal digestion. Ramen is preserved with Tertiary-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), a hard to digest petroleum-based product also found in lacquers and pesticide products

I like to take mountain house and add rice and/or beans to it. Makes it go farther and increases the calorie count. They are fairly low cal foods by themselves.
@CavemanCody
@CavemanCody 4 года назад
A lot of foods have been stripped of caloric density thanks to so many people calorie counting. Which is fine and dandy if you live a sedentary lifestyle. But if your hiking and or surviving you need those calories more than ever.

maybe some protein powder. note some items you showed are very high in salt. thanks great video.
@CavemanCody
@CavemanCody 4 года назад
I believe I mentioned the salt content. If I did not my mistake. Salt will increase your thirst a lot. And blood pressure in some individuals. Thanks for pointing that out. Protein powder isnt a bad option. Or other nutritional supplements.

No ramen?!?! lol i'm going for the tuna and chicken, spam can work for catfish bait though and it really isn't that bad once sliced and fried up. I have a discount code for Mountain House, save 30% off, a good chunk of change $$... I think it is JG20Q1
@spg77777

rice 'n beans, yeah buddy... but don't forget the canned tomato's and spices (whatever you like). Canned tomato's sauced, diced, crushed, cherry or pasta sauce, what ever. Plain rice and beans is kinda bland. And yeah, throw some of that fried Spam in there too... and don't forget the hot sauce. Thrive, don't just survive. )))
@CavemanCody
@CavemanCody 4 года назад
For other people yea. But I gotta be honest. I hate tomatoes. But I can take that rice, some spring onions, spam and some chicken and some garden grown peppers and make something incredible.

You need to set up a Patreon account, or update your about page/facebook to include it. I went to donate but your Gofundme is deactivated.

You are correct I do need to update those. I half way set up a patreon and never finished it. I have 2 main social media and I am still unsure how to balance them both on one patreon.
