I agree with Yohio and the gazette :D People shouldn't dislike Yohio just because he's not Japanese. He brought me into the world of visual kei and he is just amazing.
If people want to hate anyone that is committing cultural appropriation through music, then it's a guy called MdotR, not Yohio, not related to visual kei but if you check the guy out, you will know what I mean
I remember seeing Yohio on tv when I was younger when he was competing in Melodifestivalen and I really liked his song didn't like how all the swedish people made fun of him
Love your selection, all my favorites. Going to LA from New Mexico to see Kon from Cell at VKFest and Little Toyko Harajuku Fashion Walk. One day then back home.
Yay royz is #1, love them. especially there new look. And this was a first were I new all the bands/songs :) to bad nocturnal bloodlust wasnt on here thought. Haven't seen a video with them on it yet.
This is perfect seriously Diaura and my all-time favorite band,ROYZ IS NUMBER ONEEE~this is my first time watching My Top Jrock bands video with Royz number one
xBlackBaccaratx Yes, my list is always changing and growing. Recently have gotten into Yōsei Teikoku and even Babymetal is a lot more interesting than I first thought. I am an artist that works in kiln formed glass and my recent work is based on Visual Kei and traditional Japanese images from Kabuki and Geisha fashion.
Can I ask you something? WTF is The GazettE is doing on the last place?! They should be #1! Kidding! You have your own oppinions, but seriously, you missed out great VK bands like Versailles! And dude! The GazettE has a lot of heart-touching songs, and Ruki's voice is so... Calm.
LayLyann Tarabay Irizarry I've never been a huge fan of the GazettE, I hardly ever listen to them anymore to be honest. They just aren't my style, Versailles isn't either :P I prefer the darker stuff like Mejibray, Dadaroma, and ペンタゴン :)
It's okay :D I really enjoy MEJIBRAY, and if you like darker stuff, try Dir en Grey, they're japanese and awesome. I love their song, Obscure. Though, they left the Visual Kei style, but that's okay, and Kyo used to cut himself in the lives but stopped.
Dir en Grey? I guess we all different opinions... What about bands like X Japan? I like Orgasm (I know, that name though...) and Kurenai, and I also like Due'le Quartz, I love Jisatsu Ganbou and Rodeo...
LayLyann Tarabay Irizarry Honestly when I saw The Gazette on last place... I was just thinking "Diru and X-Japan are the only bands that can beat them". But we all have different tastes, I'm a huge fan of Mejibray
Yeah and a lot of them are pretty and handsome even without makeup teheh like koki of vivid :3 and i like younger bands and young band members so ye koki is 24
I kinda liked rock before but I really prefer VK and got more into because of them, I also got interested because of the visual but I still love it for the music
I know it's your opinion and I respect! Even if for me, would put: Royz (Third), Diaura (Second) and MEJIBRAY (First). Anyway, your "Top 8" is very cool ..
+Sophia Royz ソフィア (SophiaBVBiersack) oh hehehe i didn't realize^^" but seriously tho this video made me start listening to Royz. Do you still like them?
+Sophia Royz ソフィア (SophiaBVBiersack) haha okay^^ i wanna know japanese so that i can read what my fav bands posts but i don't wanna seem like a weeabo since i like anime too xD
All of the band are nice, but I like diaura, the gazette, royz, comodo dragon and I wish they add kiryu and arlequin on the list. I am worth dying for this visual kie bands.
A few people have mentioned X Japan but they band are massively overrated. I give them credit for creating the whole visual kei image but musically they were just a power metal band with a few ballads. There's thousands of power metal bands in Europe such as Helloween. I prefer the later visual kei bands like The Gazette and Dir En Grey who had the image but mixed their metal with alternative and gothic rock.
It's so strange to see Yohio on a list like this o_O I know, he is considered to ne a visual kei singer, but still... :D And also... I never thought I'll find him on a list with a higher rank then the GazettE (i'm not a hardcore Gaze fan anymore, but still... Both Ruki's voice and their music is a "bit" better than what that swedish cutie does :D I like his music too, but...) But I do not want to argue nor bother you since it's your list. Everybody has different opinions and all.... :)
Why is the Gazette on the 8th place. And to Giselle Lemmens...I don't get a word of the Japanase but you can look it up on google and if you look at the PV you can make out what the song is about
I always asked how all they have the same hand gestures or body poses. Like an aesthetic of visual Kei. Did it have a name? Like furitsake is for movements only for lives. How did it start cos Gackt? Malice mizer? Does someone know?
By The Way YOHIO isn't Dressing simmilar to visual kei Bands he is a visual kei Artist ;) And he is awesome Good video By The Way I love J-Rock and visual kei is just awesome ;)
Until my distress sleeps fill me up with your grief... nice video... Great bands im gonna go jam now I love all these bands ...is it bad to live in america and only like foreign bands ...^U^ XD...just kidding thanks for the video
DEG used to be an entire outfit of visual kei in their earlier years but at some point started wearing normal jeans and clothings, kyo is really the only one i would consider to be a vk artist as he still dresses up but in a different way. That being said they are in a class of their own mostly. I love all of DEGs work
Hahaha to make it worse such comments are everywhere. Literally the next VK list I watched had them at 7 and it was the same story all over again. I hope they realize that what they're doing is counterproductive at best... :/
I guess I'm showing my age here, but I was for sure certain I'd see X Japan, Dir en Grey, or Malice Mizer on this list, but admittedly, they're all older bands but most are still around.
The visual kei bands listed sounds like pop with guitar, drums, and bass in the background in my opinion. Probably the only band that doesn't have that pop sound are malice mizer and heidi
Super surprised that Malice Micer wasn't on your list, tiz Gackt's old band after all he totally oozes Visual Kei XD lol I totally forgot the "my" in my comment lol Comment was supposed to read "Those are my top three" -__-
I've really just 'discovered' visual kei, and I'm like, it's good music and it's an awesome style, but non-japanese speakers can't even understand.the songs, so how can you even like a visual kei band when you aren't japanese?
When the rhythm and the fashion are enjoyable what does it matter? The lyrics just add more depth. It's no different from some people liking opera or deathmetal where the lyrics are unintelligible :P
you're both right now i think about it.. But still, i'm actually studying japanese right now, and my native language is dutch which makes it kinda hard. :D
