I'm not a massive fan for gadgets and spending money on things I just don't need, but there are definitely things that I reckon are worth spending money on when it comes to adventure bike riding. This video covers my favourite and most recommended products when it comes to parting with your hard earned money.

Hi Chris, thank you very much for the tip for the rope! I had no idea this can be used as a winch. Saw that first time in my life :). Take care.

Thanks Chris for another great advise on essentials. I learned (and got excited) a lot from your content. Would you enlighten me if skinny offroad wheels 1.85F 2.5R worth to be upgraded for pan european (TET) trip? Inclusive of long distance tarmac & technical trails? I struggle to find the best balance and cant see myself carrying both sets of rims. Big massive thanks for everything you shared

Hi Chris, Great video as always. How does the rope trick work? You tight it to the spokes and roll it up?
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 7 месяцев назад
We cover it in one of tbe say not to slow videos. But basically tie it off to a cross of the spokes and then use the hub as a winch drum.

Sorry Chris, completely *UNRELATED* to the great video, but I need to ask : Why do you have a comedically large cheque from Crédito Agricula (a very random Portuguese bank) on the window?? 😅

Thanks for the video. I’ve never used the Cardos. So if you’re off road riding on a trail, what is the distance between riders so that the system works? I have no idea. Thanks.
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 4 месяца назад
It depends greatly on the terrain. They say up to a kilometer but that’s without trees, rocks and mountains in the way. In reality it’s more line of sight. The cardo mesh system helps a lot as it daisy chains between units rather than Bluetooth to a master unit.

I hate my Cardo. It’s fine if you’re under 5pm-h, but I can’t hear it above that. The Sena is fine. I don’t understand why they don’t just put good speakers in them.
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 7 месяцев назад
You should make sure you have the speakers in the right place, it makes a big difference. for me the sound is way above sena.
@ryanmalone2681
@ryanmalone2681 7 месяцев назад
@@ChrisBirchNZ My Arai has specific cutouts for the speakers. They’re just louder and better on the Sena, but not as good as they should be. The only real solution is I ound a pair of custom molded Bluetooth earphone that last 14 hours. So I still use the Sena or Cardo when I need an intercom, which isn’t often. I just don’t know why the speakers are all such junk on all of them.
@TubbyTrialTeam
@TubbyTrialTeam 7 месяцев назад
Great tips I use moulded headphones Which work great on intercoms if yours still have a 3.5 mini jack output. 👍🏻
@ryanmalone2681

@@TubbyTrialTeam you can save some money if you go wired, but I can’t be dealing with wires.
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 7 месяцев назад
@@ryanmalone2681 I think that’s your problem. Your ears aren’t exactly where arai think they should be. With them in the right place and spaced correctly I can’t run them at full volume, I think your getting robbed 😂

Hi Chris, very fan of your videos and the say no to slow training. Question, looks like you are a tall person, do you use bar risers in your KTM 1290? What opinion do you have about it? Thanks.
@ChrisBirchNZ
@ChrisBirchNZ 7 месяцев назад
Hi no I don’t run bar risers. In my opinion it makes it more comfortable to ride with poor position. I do run the rally pegs and rally seat which gives me a bit more room.
@seazv
@seazv 7 месяцев назад
@@ChrisBirchNZ thanks Chris!! I will give a try without it. I feel the bike more nervous with the risers. Can I make another question 😁 Do you have the ktm original risers in the position is more close to you or more far? In the manual indicates you can rotate it. Don’t know the recommended position for Offroad And then in your video bike setup of your say no to slow adventure bikes training , you put you handlebar in 2 upper 1 upper 0 middle 1 bottom 2 bottom Thanks and sorry for too many questions
@ashleywrichardson
@ashleywrichardson 2 месяца назад
@@seazv I asked regarding the bar position a while back, on a Ktm just get the 0 mark bang middle of the split in the bar clamps and that is how Chris suggests having them set, and how I have mine.
