When I lost my job and was out of work for awhile, I invested in a rechargeable tooth brush on the advice of my dentist, knowing that I just could not afford Dental Insurance... that was over 12 years ago and every checkup, my Dentist tells me how great my teeth are... no cavities or gum issues... Sound advice - hand tooth brushing just does not get it done! Love your videos!

"Beurer Portable Wireless Heated Seat Cushion". I use a different brand that's discontinued, but this seat cushion functions the same way. Plug, it into a usb power pack, like your Anker (20,000 mah at least), and it can keep your bed warm in Winter. I start out on high then drop it down to low so it lasts all night. Saved my dumb a** the first yr in my van, when I didn't think I needed a heater!!

Thanks for posting the list Robin … A suggestion for those interested in a battery pack to charge those USB devices. Since it's soon to be Prime Day, I'd suggest looking for deals on a battery pack that does double duty - not only charge USB devices but is able to boost a typical car's starting battery. Yes, they are more expensive but, knowing I can boost a car battery is important, in the middle of nowhere boondocking!! Cheers, Steve

I bought a few of the items you recommend. The bendable neck flashlight, I used it on a retreat this weekend in two different ways that I hadn’t thought of before. 1) When I was walking by myself, I shined one spot just in front of my feet, and the other one more forward. Much better than just one lens of focus. When my friend and I were walking in a column, I directed one light for me, up ahead, and the other light behind me, so she could see the path too.

The Fan, yes, yes! I have 3 and bought a fourth for a gift! I have one for each of us fo overnight. One is 3 years old. One is always on a charge because i am always using them now. I always pack one in my go bag so no matter where i am, i can turn one on. The ones i use in the TT at night, i just leave plugged into the USB ports. Then they are also charging and ready to go for the next day. They are so powerful and efficient, i rarely go higher than the first setting.

Great job Robin. I love the Anker power blocks, I took it to Europe last year and kept my cell charged from all the photos. I also used it during the Hurricane last summer. I am looking to getting a bigger one with 2 ports. I keep the Anker small block in my purse. Some of those power blocks are rap but I was impressed with the Anker one.

Great info in the video! I have a class A and have not boondocked much … by choice. I am not full time but have done trips up to 7 months long as my work as a computer programmer is 100% mobile. On my longer trips I often stayed in 1 spot for a month - park rates are significantly better for longer times and as I enjoyed "living like a local": I tow a Jeep Wrangler. And, it is not the park rates that are budget busters for me, but fuel. At any rate … have done most of my RVing plugged in. All to say, there is still power management to consider, especially summer. I do not do well in heat and travel with a medium-large dog plus a long hair double coat cat … we all need cool so A/C is a must for me/them. With A/C units cooling an RV and mine is 30amp setup, there is often not much power left for anything else. The USB options are great! I am a scratch cook, sourdough (natural leaven) baker of all things dough and like you, use an immersion blender - what a great set of tools that Cuisinart package is! I will be interested to see when you make bread in your solar oven. My rig has a propane oven and despite it having a non-precise temp control, I swear all of the baked goods are better than in my calibrated home oven. Happy trails! OH, I am another that is highly anticipating the "clam" video!

I also have luci lights. Solar powered. I use these and the neck lights at home to cut down my electric bill. After everything is done in the evening and I’m watching a dvd or on my iPad or reading or doing a craft other than quilting, I use the luci lights and neck lights. I charge the neck lights on my laptop. Luci lights I put in the window on my porch in the sun to charge. LOVE both!

I just bought the big battery pack - it's awesome! Also, I did an experiment - I tried a 110 fan on it and compared it with a USB fan (both 6inch) and saw that the USB fan uses no energy, whereas with the other one I could see the voltage drop by the minute. I love your suggestions and research!!

Sort of living part time out of my Dodge Van. I dont have money for solar or big battery pack. But about a year ago I bought a Wal Mart battery jump pack that has a built in one 110v interverter port, two USB ports, two 12V car socket ports, a light, and has a plug on back to plug a extension cord in to to charge it. So far the jump pack has performed stellar service and has paid for itself many times over. I think I paid $65 for it. If it had one draw back I would say that its heavy.

Hi Robin, I have taken "the leap" and purchased a little travel trailer (new to me) for future travel adventures. This vlog was very helpful. I still have not become truly acquainted with my camper yet but after watching this video I felt comfortable going forward and purchasing a few things. I am on the east coast and the local Walmart has Mainstays 5-in portable fans for $10. They are DUAL POWERED: battery or USB with 2 speed setting, 130 degree pivoting head & the box says fan will run for 75 hrs on batteries if on low speed. Unfortunately, I cannot find it on their website and I don't know how to attach a photo of the one I purchased, but they come in white or black. :-)

I also know their are usb heated blankets, and if you have a big enough battery pack they can heat up your bed before you get in. There are also usb fans that don’t have the battery built in so if the battery goes bad after a while you don’t have to throw the whole unit away.

Robin I found out when it came to fans in the RV Amazon has a 9" fan USB powered without batteries. The reason I say no batteries is because the batteries will fail after a year or so. If you're running on a limited power because of solar, USB fans are wonderful. They consume less power and you can still get ones that move a fair amount of air. I have an 8inch USB fan that is my main fan and I augment with a seconary 12-volt van when needed. So I have several 12-volt outlets, and then a USB adapter plugged into that which powers several of my USB devices.

I think your "bread knife" tool attachment is an electric knife type. Which means you can use it for more than just bread. If you were a carnivore...you could carve meat like turkey. Also...did you know the pro upholsterers use electric knives to cut the foam for seat cushions? makes nice clean cuts if you're trimming memory foam mattresses and foam pads. And never apologize for being a gadget person - gadget's are fun. And USB makes them completely portable!

Robin, you will go nuts with these cables. Get generation 5 or better, but what ever you get you will need to reorder the same generation. Anyway they are magnetic USB charge cables. iPhone, USB-C and Micro USB!!! Then you just put in the little usb end in your device and leave it. Then you just get close to a cable and it will just snap on and start charging. I have these in all my cars, on my dash of my RV and on the bedside of my RV. to unhook the cable you just grab the device and walk away it auto unhooks. Search Amazon for "NetDot Gen10 3 in 1 Nylon Braided Magnetic Fast Charging Cable with Side LED Compatible with Micro USB & USB-C Smartphones and i-Product(6.6ft/3 Pack Black) " you can get different lengths again make sue it is the same generation.

Excellent video Robin!!! I use to feel like I was excessive using USB in my stick built home BUT NOW I realize how much more efficient and lightweight the USB rechargeable stuff is and I am grateful for them all!! I am an elder and it is weird/funny how slightly heavy items are so much more uncomfortable now. My kindle (BIG, BIG reader and books can be heavy!!), my battery charger for my car for emergencies ALSO now charges my phone, kindle, small speaker for old laptop (speakers go quickly in laptops!) and reading light for wandering around in the dark, actual reading when using regular books etc. I LOVE the around the neck light you have and think I will get that to replace my battery eating flashlight! Thanks again and I want a clam popup when I get to go on the road. You are the best...

A while back you mentioned a USB lighter. I purchased one and it is incredible! No more wasting money on those disposable lighters! The charge also lasts forever! Thanks, Robin!

There are a ton of small SOLAR items that provide functions like lights or fans but also have the capability of recharging your other USB appliances.

I love your videos! You are so informative, and, it makes me think "I" could do this, but, alas, I'm too chicken. I found the CUTEST little 20' 1986 Conquest, that looked like it was in perfect condition, yesterday, for only $6500....so tempting!!
