This is a national crisis. Healthcare on its own is hot mess in the US, but it's especially bad for us transgender folk. I live in Texas, and I probably wouldn't have made it as far as I have if I didn't have my two years in San Francisco, where trans-related medical and legal resources were accessible. Had a hard time finding a doctor after my move five years ago. And unfortunately, I cannot afford Obamacare, so I pay for my hormones and everything out of pocket since I'm too young for Texas to deem me eligible for Medicare. It really feels like the only options for are us parts of the West Coast, Canada, the UK, or elsewhere in Europe. It's just a very sad, sad situation. So thank you, Miss Peppermint, for sharing your story and for bringing attention to this issue. Don't know if you will respond to my comment, but I had to say something. You have such grace, intelligence, and sweetness! You are a perfect role model. So much love and light to you!

Did the show ask you to look a certain way? or, did the show become a bump in the road in your transition? I've heard from past seasons they would tell the girls to hide their transition, or to detransition for the show.

Thank you for sharing. I am a nursing student and am researching trans health care, trans health care issues, and of course best nursing practice. I want to be the best nurse I can be and help support educators, other nurses, and health care providers to be inclusive and aware of trans health care needs.

funny you should mention being instructed to take medication incorrectly. I'm a diabetic and my old doctor told me to take two different insulins. they had to go in a certain order and I was told the wrong order! so when I ended up in the hospital for extremely high glucose we were all shocked to find it wasn't because I wasn't taking my meds, but that it was because I was given wrong instructions!!

This is SO IMPORTANT. You are explaining everything so perfectly and elegantly! Thank you Peppermint, it's so important for people to hear this.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for being so open about your experience as a trans woman. Not many people would do so, and it helps me learn more about my LGBT community as a whole. As a gay man, I sometimes struggle to understand the trans community. Your video helped me understand a little more. I hope you continue to do this I would love to learn more from you. As a recently graduated RN with a strong interest in women's health and LGBTQ health, I am so sorry that you've had issues with the healthcare system, but I'm also glad that you've been able to find a physician who cares enough to work with you on this. (Although really she should've looked up the medication and what route to give it if it was the first time she'd prescribed it.) I also hope that she leaves your genitals out of it (unless you bring it up first) because I've heard from many trans individuals that it's a real problem they have with healthcare period. "I'm here because I've been having this pain in my abdomen for a few days now and it won't go away." "Ah, I see you're transgender. So what do you have down there." -.- Stuff like that. Trans health is really the next big thing that healthcare workers are going to need to work on to give the best care possible, and that includes healthcare besides the transitioning process. Let's hope we can keep working to do better! Also, I'm so glad that you decided to make these videos because I'm really looking forward to your insights.

I love how accepting you are of non-trans people, and doctors, and people who just don't understand yet. One of my friends is trans, but even before I met her I've always tried to learn more about the LGBTQ+ society and be a half decent ally. I'm so glad you're educating the masses! I have always felt like a man forever but still enjoyed stuff like drag which was confusing to me, but I only wanna be a woman when I AM in drag!! every other moment of my life, I wanna be fully me and not put on a costume, which is womanhood. drag is a costume pretty much to me, a full embodiment of womanhood but to me, can only ever be a costume. i've never felt comfortable identifying as a woman beyond this. so thank you for showing me its possible to do this. ima still rock some high heels, some makeup once in a while! but im gonna do it all while being me, which is a man!!!

I feel your pain regarding inter muscular injections! Although mine are chemotherapy treatments but they hurt like a bitch often bruise and the needles are huge! It is a very weird and difficult thing to stick a long needle into your leg every week. Thank you for sharing your story

Peppermint, Monet, and Bob's (If they ever become a girl group it needs to be PBM) talks on gender have helped a lot in me figuring out I'm under the trans umbrella. I identify as (Male/Gender Fluid). I wanted to identify as Male Fluid but that's sounds disgusting. I'm mostly male and the rest is fluid. It's that simple but it took me SOOOO long to not only figure it out but than put words to it. The social media between these three - especially Pep, has been invaluable. I not only know how I Identify but I have pride, so much pride. Thank you so much for the representation, the love, the entertainment, and the laughs. Thank you. ... Oh, and, "Is it Fashion?"

The last time I saw a medical specialist, I had to fill out the standard forms. Then I was a bit surprised that it asked the question of sexual orientation. I'm straight, but I was still taken aback! I didn't think that type of question could be asked anymore.🤔🤔😕

I'm turning 18 soon and i want to be on hormones, I'm a trans guy and i feel like my time is running out (even though there's no time limit) but I'm just so frustrated cause I'm living with my parents and I'm not out to them and I'm afraid they won't let me get therapy to a referral for testosterone.
