As a cisgendered gay male, I think I could date a trans-man. The label wouldn't matter to me, love is love. I do think that sadly there is still much stigma behind dating trans people in both the straight and gay world, which isn't being addressed. We need to rally around the trans community, in the way that straight allies rallied for the gay community.

I'm a trans girl and a I would say 10% of the guys I date wouldn't care if people knew I was trans while they held my hand in public. 70% are afraid of what their friends would think. 20% are charming but then later tell me that this was all an experiment to see if they wanted to date a trans woman.... and whether they want to stay with me or not if I hear that I was their experiment rather than a them having a genuine interest in me as a cool human artist/actress/Producer.... then I get rid of them. I don't have time for guys to experiment with me or guys who only care what their bros think of them WHEN their bros are probably messaging me on tinder or whatever too! If guys talked openly about their attraction to trans girls then they would all realize that there are a ton of their friends that find us attractive.

I'm a trans man who has dated a trans woman (and it ultimately didn't work out because of our own personal differences), but I am currently in a relationship with another trans man and a cis man. And my cis boyfriend is just super open and loves both of his boyfriends, which is just. So great and lovely, because it's the first relationship I've really had since coming out 5+ years ago.

I identify as homoflexible so I'm physically and emotionally attracted to men/masc non-binary, and just physically attracted to women/feminine non-binary. As far as I'm concerned though transmen are men and transwomen are women so there is no difference in my sexuality towards them, and I consider whatever genitals they have irrelevant. Sex to me is about providing pleasure to a person, not an organ so idc what you have down below, it won't affect my attraction.

I have to say, I'm extremely lucky to be with trans man and proud to call myself a gay man. It has happened that some of my friends and coworkers were confused about the fact that my bf is FTM that did not have bottom surgery with no plans on doing so, and what it really makes me in their eyes ... I'm a gay man and I'm so glad that I actively educated myself on transgender issues because I've learned that transgender people aren't confused or damaged weirdo's like Jerry Springer or right winged gossip columns tell us. I have not been in a relationship with a trans person, I would be comfortable dating a trans man because they share the male characteristics I desire. However, the difficulty with doing this is I believe entirely societal and easy to avoid because so many people do not understand what trans is. In a positive light, just as gay issues, or feminine ones, racial ones, whatever the minority. Right now people don't accept people and hate is rampant in the U.S. that's why I love Peppermint. She is a visible force, and we all need to know that love is, love deserves to be visible, people need to be visible. Hate is not something that should be channeled when the only issue is that something is different than what we are conditioned to think. biological sex is confused with gender sex, gender is on a spectrum. The more people who understand what that means. The closer we can get to being able to hold anybody's hand in public.

A few minutes ago I destroyed the whole "straight guy forbidden fruit illusion". I lost a dear friend I knew for a bit over ten years in the process... I think it really comes down to 3 main things: labels, genitals, and homophobia! Because I feel the consensus from most people is that if you LABEL yourself heterosexual, and date a trans WOMAN who has a PENIS, you are now GAY, or at least Bisexual or Pansexual. Now that isn't true by my definition of gay or bi, I suppose you could now be considered pan, but my point is SO WHAT???? Well, like you said, it's the shame. Imagine if someone like LL COOL J just told the press, "I love her and I don't care what you call me?" Or what's almost worse (especially with trans women) is "Well she's had THE SURGERY, so I'm not gay" (because this just reinforces the idea that unless she has undergone sexual reassignment surgery, she is not really a woman) or "I didn't touch her penis so I'm not gay" (because reinforces the idea that gender is all about genitals and sexuality is what you do to other people's genitals). For example, I consider myself Bisexual, but I fell in love with and married a man, so many people (friends included) say that now I'm straight because I'm living a "heterosexual lifestyle" because we are monogamous. I still think women are attractive, just like I still think other men are attractive, but I believe in monogamy, so all I do is look (and sometimes fantasize😍). I love my husband dearly, and I greatly enjoy sex with him, but when I think of why I love him, I don't think of his penis. And if something horrific happened and he lost his penis, I wouldn't love him less, nor would that make him a woman (this is why the genital thing bothers me because how you feel inside and present on the outside don't have anything to do with what is between your legs, and saying that they do is rude to intersex people, trans people, and even to some extent people with sexual health disorders (i.e. You're not a REAL man if you have erectile disfunction (because again a man is apparently defined only as one who can use his erect penis to sexually please their partner....and that is another problem for trans men who choose not to have any type of surgery (most trans men have a small "penis" that grows from their clitoris as they take hormones, and some choose to have a surgery that releases some of the internal tissue to make it longer and a bit more like a cis man's penis, and some even have a penis sort of made out of that tissue and skin from their arm and have their urethra lengthened and put inside their newly constructed penis so that they can urinate the way a cis man does.....I'm including this info for people who might not know since it seems most people know a bit or can imagine how a penis can be turned into a vagina, but most people aren't aware of what is done when a trans man decides to have sexual reassignment surgery). Or what about a woman with sexual disorders? I have interstitial cystitis that can make sex with penetration incredibly painful for me and for quite some time I was unable to find a treatment that helped, so my husband and I went for a period of about 2 years of not having penetrative sex, but that doesn't mean that we were celibate. And although I finally found a treatment that worked for me, there are plenty of people who are sexually satisfied without intercourse that consists of penis penetrating vagina; whether it's because of a medical issue, a psychological issue, or if they are intersex, or trans, or in the case of homosexual sex with 2 cis people, or for a multitude of other reasons, but that doesn't mean that they are celibate or unsatisfied. If the world wasn't so obsessed with labels, and other people's genitals and sexual activities, less people would feel the need to surgically alter their genitals to conform to some cisgender norm. And if you or your partner have had SRS and are happy, I am glad and I am not saying that was a mistake, BUT there are people out there who feel like they mutilated their genitals to fit some idea of "normal" and are not happy. I specifically remember a documentary I watched about 15 years ago that had a group of intersex people who had undergone different types of vaginoplasty or penile reconstruction and were unhappy. Some were as babies because their parents thought it was right to do it immediately at the advice of doctors and I specifically remember one person who presented as male and had to take male hormones because his doctors did a blood test at birth and determined XY so the baby's ambiguous genitals were constructed into a penis, but later in life he realized he wasn't, but he was told there was no way they could now do a vaginoplasty because of the way the tissue was added/removed to construct the penis, so this guy continued presenting as male and worked out excessively to be extra masculine and only revealed his true inner self with his partner. I also remember a teenage girl who went through vaginoplasty not as a baby, but as a teenager and she basically did it to please her parents (they loved her of course, and were so afraid of what her life might be like as a woman with ambiguous genitals and they thought they were pushing her towards something that would make her life easier/better) but she was very unhappy because she basically lost all sexual function and pleasure. She said she used to have a flap of skin that lubricated when she was aroused and that didn't happen anymore. She didn't mention (or I just don't remember) if she had been able to orgasm prior to surgery, but it was pretty obvious that she felt like she had a vagina "installed" to make society and a future partner happy, but she wished she could undo it to what she had before. (I believe she had to have surgery to reconstruct her urethra or to fix some urinary issue that was due to the way her vaginal area had formed and so the parents wanted her to have the vaginoplasty at the same time) Now I understand that surgery of the genitalia has come a long way since that documentary was made, and I do understand that intersex people, or people with ambiguous genitalia and trans people are not as common as cis men and women, BUT we need to stop thinking that genitals matter so much. It might matter a bit in the sense of having biological children and if that is a make or break deal for you, then that's for you and your partner to decide, and as far as sex goes, I always hear things like, "I could never touch a penis/vagina" (both from heterosexual and homosexual people) and I don't understand it, but then again I'm bi, so fine, but it's still weird to me that someone could meet someone and find their outward appearance attractive and find them to be attractive as a partner on an emotional and intellectual level, but then decide they can't be with them because of the shape of their genitalia (or the shape it was when they were born if they've had SRS). Especially when there are so many ways to have "sex" depending on you and your partners likes and turn ons. I think if most people were truly honest with themselves, they could easily be with a trans person, but it's more due to fear of what others will think, or prejudice, or fear that they won't. Anyway, sorry this turned in to such an essay, but if you're still reading I would love to hear your thoughts or if I've changed your view or you learned something. 😊 Love is love! I have only ever been serious and in love with 2 guys. Both who were transphobic men when we met. They treated me right and liked me for me, not the journey I took to be comfortable in my own skin. I think it worked so well because they had no admirers preconceived ideas/attraction or the usual admirer baggage. I find men who seek out trans fail to respect me and they do not treat or interact with me right. They make me feel so damn uncomfortable and the more woke the world as become over the decades the more naïve the admirers have gotten in my opinion.

I dated a trans man. Now personally I'm bi, but i considered dating him to be a heterosexual relationship. It was actually pretty stigma free for me because he was so cis passing but friends that did know always wanted to ask about his genitals which is awful. I have a cis partner now and those same friends aren't asking about his penis.

Sorry but sexuality is based on SEX, SEX is BIOLOGICAL.. You said yourself that SEX and gender are different SEX is biological and gender is socially constructed. Well sexual attraction is biological you are born straight, gay or bi it's how can you be born attracted to a social construct? Straight SEX is DEFINED between two people of the opposite SEX... I am a straight female. I have friends who are gay. I served in the Army for years. This is NOT a question about dating trans women or men. I have a question about celebrities that are deceiving us as a community. I believe it is bullshit for them to do it. I would like to ask everyone's thoughts on this. I think this fucked up world is confusing enough without throwing deception into the mix. If you are gay, straight, trans, neutered or whatever, be who the hell you are. We are messing up the kids by confusing them. I was pissed of when I found out who was deceptive about being transgendered. I mean hell, I am 55 years old. If what I know is true? I going to answer your questions Queen Peppermint. I have never dated a trans person (not to my knowledge anyway). Basically I havnt met alot of trans people in person. I would date a trans person. Most likely a Trans male but who knows. Why would I date a Trans person? If I'm attracted to that particular person and they like, me then I don't see a problem with it. Ask me this 10 years ago I probably would have a different answer but after educating myself and just by getting older, I'm less narrow minded.

My view on Trans movement goes beyond born wrong body . before i get into this, If we look at human society from hundreds of years ago and compare it to inmates in a prison or even military all woman dressed the same, acted the same, All men dressed the same similar haircuts etc. in short this realm was like a Cage for creativity and conscious expansion . then as time went on, Woman rights, all kinds of music, hair styles. baby steps to freeing up the mind and creativity . now to the present In many ways i do think a lot of Trans people may actually be Higher evolved lifeforms ( angels, gods/goddesses/ Aliens / mystical beings ) who came down to this universe/realm To facilitate Freeing up the mind, creativity , freedom , consious expansion . When it comes with me and Transwoman , I wouldn't say im a chaser , I think im more Drawn to the possibility fo dating and seeing a higher evolved being from another dimension here on this realm, on physical side of things, I find it fascinating that trans woman essential have to go through puberty twice, 1st time was as a man/ their birth gender, then again when they came to realize their a woman or masculinity wasnt their cup of tea , plus most Transwoman were men 25- 50% of their lives, so they tend to have a better understanding of men then a cis gender woman , which in turn is an added layer of comfort . I personally find having sex with cis gender woman to be more pressured then with transwoman not to get too explicit if during sex im out of breath and lose my erection , ive found cis gender woman to kinda exude a vibe how come your soft now, where as a Transwoman kinda just already knows and exudes a giggly vibe, yup happened to back in my day as a guy lol . If a Transwoman is not somewhat passable to an extent, call me ignorant but i wont want to be seen in public nor in private .

People are too caught up in who everyone sleeps with. For me sexuality is nothing more than who you sleep with and who you love so if you're not going to sleep with someone or be in a relationship with them, their sexuality is none of your business and there should be no judgement based on that.

I'm bi, I would absolutely date a trans person. But I'm also vegan because it's wrong to hurt animals, any person I date would have to be vegan as well and recognize that other animals deserve the right to their own life. I watched a lesbian movie on Netflix, actually I watched it more than once, a straight women ended up dating and falling in love with this other woman and the lesbian said, "My father once said you can't help who you fall in love with"! Now not withstanding it was a movie about lesbians the point is still there, I dated a post-transwoman and I felt fine with it and treated her as a woman but one family member was nasty towards her even after the nice thing s she did for them.
