My husband has this map, sadly he passed away in Thailand in January and he never scratched the countries off, time to get it out and start scratching. Love it Paddy, still so much more to explore, Merry Christmas and happy travels in 2024
Paddy mate! That was super cool to scratch off with you all your adventures. Buddy, just wanted to say a massive thanks for reigniting my passion for travel since turning 50 in 2016 and quitting my job for a year to travel the USA and then live in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Since then I have been able to cross off Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. Unfortunately my India trip was cancelled in October due to health issues but plan a bunch of destinations for 2024. Thanks for you inspiration and a truck load of shits and giggles along the way and of course many a sunrise and sunset. Cannot wait for all the new episodes to drop. Wishing you a cracker Christmas and New Year with your family and Miss P. Merry Xmas 🎄🎅 Krup 🙏 Forrister -Australia
By your standard of having to stay in a country at least 24 hours in order to count that country in, I have been to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Macao, China, South Korea, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A., Canada, France, Switzerland, and Russia-21 countries/territories in 4 continents. I have also been to the following countries for a few hours: England, Germany, Myanmar (Burma), and Mexico. I have made multiple transit stops at airports in Turkey (Istanbul) and Qatar (Doha), as well as one transit stop at an airport in UAE (Abu Dhabi).
I hadn't heard this word TELETEXTE for at least 25 years 😂. You still have a lot of countries left to discover and thank you again for sharing your adventures with us !!
Ooh yes ... Teletext... that was an experience... I still remember it very well... the first videos too... were a big aha... and wow moment for me... time flies so quickly ... ! I am happy to have made this whole development and this path in life... and still do ...
I loved Antarctica. Took the ship Noosfera down there on their first expedition , was the old British antarctic ship James Clark Ross. 20 years in the merchant navy and that was a highlight of my career. Also squeaky bum time dodging ice bergs 😮
I didn't know we had anything in common, but I'm from Nebraska and lived in Loveland, Colorado just below Estes Park. Ilive in the Philippines now. I'm going to have to get one of those maps. I've been to 6 countries and have plans to go to 2 or 3 more in 2024. I have a ways to go to compete with you, but I just started my RU-vid channel recently. You inspire me. Happy New Year.
Thanks, Paddy and congratulations on all your travels. It was fun to see some of your youth pictures. And did we actually see a short photo in France of the elusive Miss P? Continued fun and safe travels.
Hiya Paddy. I love scratch maps. It is very cool. It is so good to hear more about your life. Love seeing the old pictures and footage. So many wonderful destinations and lovely memories. Looking forward to your new adventures. Wishing you the Best New Year. I hope you had a wonderful time with Family. I hope Miss P enjoyed it.
So happy Paddy to meet you from time to time on RU-vid... I am very excited and I'm looking forward to your next adventures in South America ... 🤗 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ! See you soon
@Paddydoyle 2/3/4 weeks is all you need for one insane South African Experience im based in Cape Town and love my country will gladly host you and help you plan the most amazing trip!!!
Paddy. You need to come to my neck of the woods. CANADA. Ontario to be precise. It's a fabulous place. Kind of getting cold right now. Thanks for sharing all your experiences. I am also a traveller and love your videos. Merry Christmas.🎄
Wow, amazing traveler, and at 67 I don't travel any more but have been to many places in the World now, moving from Boulder, CO, U.S.A., you have been in Estes Park not far and observed by me because of living so close, then to Thailand for the last 24 years, I am relaxed and feeling alright.☮ Happy Holidays I have watched you from your start and you make interesting videos, I have hitched with a friend all over the U.S. and have been in different parts of Mexico, all over Europe starting from England and onward. Then Hongkong and all over Thailand and I still have a nice house on Koh Samui where I stayed 12 years after moving with 3rd wife who is Thai to Nakhon Sawan not like you though who have been really all over the World, Thank you and HAPPY HOLIDAYS🏝💖 never been to India, Africa, Australia, Russia, or inside China and a lot of the places you have been to but while living in Boulder met a lot of Indian and Tibetan spiritual teachers and learned a lot. Yes, I to really like Thailand and am glad I am here and now! Peace again!😎
Merry Christmas to you and yours Paddy, my friend. Enjoyed the scratching and tales shared about your adventures across the globe, Looking forward to more of your over the top Next Level Adventures yet to come that you'll share and bring us along with you as you travel through your own fun seeking and entertaining experiences. They are truly enjoyed to watch and feel right there with you from the talented way you share each place and experiences whether really fun and breathtaking, to terrifying and not for the faint hearted cliffs you fearlessly brave, and even those not so much fun for you on the misadventures you have like failing motorbikes, flat tires, leaking oils or rattles, bumps and rains you've (and we've) been through right with you in spirit. Your talents to share them, like those gas-pumping dances I do very much enjoy and chuckle at, make your channel special, top rate, Next Level fun, Paddy. Thank You for sharing all of them with me, and a blessed very Merry Christmas cheer to you. Stay Healthy, Happy and Safe, my friend, now do scratch (reveal more color) away at that map a bit more for us, please.
I have the exact same map! Someone gave it to me as a gift a few years ago but I never scratched it off because I couldn't decide if I should scratch off an entire country or just cities/regions. Thanks for clearing up the rules... now I no longer have an excuse to procastinate.
ive never got caught up on my "countries list" but ive been travelling for 8 years and realised this year that its only 32.... im glad I counted because its really motivated me to visit more in 2024!
I wanna see out track route of china, perhaps jiuzhaigou lake, zhangjiajie or wulong moutain valley attraction, never seen westerners do vid about those 3 location before, would be excitement to watch.
Another great vid Paddy...Super interesting to see whee youve been. Thankyou!! But crikey!!! You havent been to New Zealand!!!😱😱 C'mon darling....sort it out!! You know youll love it here!
Fun video Paddy. I have one of these maps too, but mine has the states/provinces for large countries like the US, China, Russia, Brazil, etc, rather than scratching the entire thing. I like it because it reminds me I’ve only scratched the surface (pun intended) of some places and gives me the urge to go back.
This is great I better get one of this map, but may start with Thailand first. I'ven't been to even all provinces in Thailand. So, I better do that first.
Watching now. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm pushing towards 60countries. But don't dis on Cali. Nebraska!!! I'd road trip there as a kid, wow, my dad let me start to drive there, at 12yo!! LOL
That`s pitty you have not a video from Czechia :) you should definitely come back and travel more than just Prague. See some videos from Honest Guide (two Czech guys from Prague are doing videos in English for travelers - about places, food, scames, etc.) :) Or I can give you some recommendation what to visit. Great video and awesome places!
My criteria is putting feet on the ground, excluding airport transfers which in my book doesn't count. Driving through Belgium from France to the Netherlands without stopping I do not count that as having been there. Thailand is great and positioned so conveniently that a lot of amazing countries are a fairly short flight away. Most fantastic place is New Zealand, amazing nature scenery. I'd go there again and again at any opportunity. You're not talking about it now, which shows you haven't been there yet.
Fun video. I always hesitated in buying myself a map like this one. But i always think i haven't seen enough countries yet so it will look good on the map...so for now i guess i'll keep going. Yours looks pretty pretty neat
I'm surprised you didn't do the inter-rail thing in Europe when you were younger. Maybe it had finished by the time you were old enough. I'm twenty years older than you. I must get a scratch map.
What year did you visit Hong Kong? It became SAR of China in July 1997 which is still its status today. Before 97 it was a British colony. Technically counts but it’s kinda like visiting Puerto Rico and saying you’ve been to the US 😂. Need to visit the mainland.
What a great idea, I've been dying to get a huge world map for a while now.. definitely getting myself one too now! Not sure about GB as 3 countries haha.. there is no land border as such! OMG Tele text lol.. hadn't heard that for a while! Do 8 hour layovers in a new country count if you went outside for some sightseeing? Because that's what I have done for China, Japan, Dubai and UAE! Although I also stayed and worked in HK for 5 weeks so China is definitely IN! Love those image transitions from b/w to colour by the way! Did you forget Singapore as a country? Or have you not been? OMG didn't realised you have not been to Africa at all! Time for a trip to Morocco, Egypt and Jordan!! I thought it would be 60+ at least! Awesome video overall, cheers!
Cheers Ash, and YES I completely forgot about Singapore as the map didn't really show it as it is so small, but let's just exchange Singapore for China and keep the number the same. Deal?
Wonder if Paddy visited any National Parks in California? I know it can be a pain in the ass going through the cities but I really want to visit those redwoods and mountains in Northern California :)
@@PaddyDoyle. Haha downtown LA/San Fran scares Americans off too, Paddy. A few miles away in Santa Monica you'd find one of the nicest places on earth (and that is not hyperbole). Certain inner cities have been left behind by American society (and wealth); they are the product of a society hyper focused on individual freedoms, but also unwilling to provide social safety nets out of a fear of disincentivizing an imaginary work ethic. Anyhow... come back to the U.S. sometime!
Cool video That was a good idea for a filler video. I think you should count Hong Kong as China and not go there for a while. They kind of don't like people calling Taiwan a country. Even though it is a country. Poor little Xi gets upset easily. And fish die. Looking forward to the South American videos.
Interesting idea. Bit odd that you haven’t counted the countries you’ve been to already…why isn’t it productive?! England, Scotland and Wales are separate countries and you’re right in scratching all separately. The Uk is a political union which people incorrectly seem to think it’s a single country…
What?! You haven’t visited CANADA?! You need to do that! Love the map… what a good idea to scratch off countries. My husband and I are in Huahin Thailand for the winter… love it here. Merry Christmas! Love your videos! 😎🇨🇦
Another Great Video Paddy Doyle🙂👍You Have to do a Series in Canada would love to see you Traveling across Canada we have some Beautiful Provinces and Territories to Explore🙂Merry Christmas Paddy Doyle looking forward to more Adventures in the New Year🙂👍
Love your channel! You cant judge California by that place. Try some of their National Parks, Roadtrip through the Pacific highway, the desert area east of the Sierra.
Paddy, will you be in Thailand in January and February? We're going to be traveling all over Thailand those times and will be exploring places we haven't been to before because of your videos. Hope our paths cross while we are there.
We usually watch you on the TV other than our phones❤️ And you have been our favourite travel RU-vidr of 2023. All the best to you bro and I hope you reach 200k before the end of the year💪🏽💪🏽
Interesting idea. I use a world map I mounted to a backer board and place pins in it. Of course as OCD as I am I color code the pins to reveal if just a single city or localized area (yellow) or a blue pin which means multiple visits and a bit wider a field from that specific point (ergo, France not just Paris but also Lyon and the Burgundy valley and multiple pins for the bigger cities, Places in china are many multiples of yellow city pins in many provinces, etc. And there are a few other colored pins like green and red and black etc which all have their own meanings. Confusing, too complex? Of course but that's me. By the way Strawberry Hills for ever tip of the hat to John Lennon and Newcastle is still my favorite Nutty Brown Ale. Merry Christmas to you and Miss P mate! Every blessing for you both.
I'd like a scratch map too. We made a map with pins, but I don't really like it. Do you have a link to the map? We'll need to talk about the States... Northern California I enjoy quite a bit more than Southern.
Okay I wasn't expecting Nebraska but that's great you've been able to see one of the biggest US cities and then also what's considered "fly-over states" here in the US. Estes Park in CO is great. Have you visited the Stanley Hotel? It's where Stephen King stayed when he got his inspiration for The Shining
I personally think its ok to scratch off a country if you spent several hours in an airport bar talking to locals waiting for a connecting flight. Looks so much better on the map. I know you want to say it Paddy. You spent much your youth chasing a debauchery lifestyle. Many would say if you had Japanese or Russian girlfriend you can cross off that country also. Right! I also worked as a bartender in my youth in a very posh Beverly Hills bar. Great Job, made a ton of money and meet so many lovely actresses ( people). How many people can say they served Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor there favorite drinks every week. Have a great Christmas Paddy!!!!
