This is still one of my favorite videos that you filmed. CS Maverick has always been one of my most cherished leathers, and I have gone through and sold several, trying to find a perfect fit. Yesterday, I got my hands on a secondhand (but newish) A5 classic maverick and my white unlined 1917 Leuchtterm went right in and it all so perfect! I also have a pocket deluxe Maverick that is seriously the cutest thing ever. But yeah, I watch this video often and thank you for all your beautiful, sweet, and informative videos.
I love how analogic you are. Most people had notes and personal stuff to their phone, but you know the pleasure of a good pen and paper with DIY/ custom covers. Totally relate
oh wow, it's incredible how you find people who do things similar to you on RU-vid, I'm an artist and a teacher by profession, I love reading and writing, of course drawing and painting, I also love chic sparrow covers, I like notebooks leuchtturm1917, I love accessories for writing, drawing and painting and also people hire me to renovate and decorate their houses and it gives me a lot of satisfaction, I love nature and animals, I love knowing new places, I appreciate and thank every day for being alive and having my senses to enjoy life. Thanks for existing and sharing ✨
finally someone who speaks like a human being and doesn't rub every leather item she holds, all the while repeating ''it's so cute, omg how cute is that, oh gosh it feels amazing, it smells so good, omg so cute, i wanna hug it all day''. i think i've had my share of that kind of videos, they gross me up
I just found you and I loved this video. I have a chunky chic sparrow and I love everything about it since it carries my life. You are a kindred spirit!
kelly reid-waldock hello and welcome kindred spirit! Thank you for commenting and visiting. Haha, yes! It’s true! These carry our lives! How did we function in the world before the Chic Sparrow???
Love your set up! I especially appreciated your comment towards the end that it IS a commitment - that's inspired me to keep on with mine... too often, I've moved onto some new system too quickly instead of keeping going, letting it bed in and getting accustomed to it. I've stuck with my new TN about a month now and can already feel it becoming invaluable :)
I always come back to this video. I discovered Chic Sparrow and Adventure Denali through it, and I enjoy it so much! Waiting for my Scout TN to be able to ship from America where it's on hold at my friends', and I'm so happy about all the nice things this vid/Alicia has enriched my life with
Awe thank you so much Hana! That is such a wonderful compliment. Congratulations on your Scout, I hope it arrives soon and brings with it lots of inspiration!
Yes! I find myself coming back again and again in this video, just to hear Alicia "ramble" on about TNs, journal, fountain pens, inks! It's so smoothing. Something like conversation therapy!! Though it's one way! :)
Love your videos and set up. I started with two pens and now within a month I have gone up to 10. Kinda went wild this month. You inspired me to get a Buttered Rum Mr. Darcy in the A5 size. I also have a pocket and personal and love the pocket because it can use field note sized inserts but the A5 is so much easier to write in especially for journaling. Hope to see more Fountain Pen and Journal videos in the near future. Take care.
I'm definitely going to be investigating this whole travel journal concept! I just started using a planner last year. I've found as I age that I really need to be writing things down! But the planner just didn't seem to provide quite enough room for everything. I love the idea of a portable office/companion. Yours is gorgeous, and I love how you've made it yours uniquely with all the little touches. I would be very interested in some fountain pen videos. I'm clueless completely about them, but it sounds like they would take writing to a whole other level. You've inspired me!
Miss Charlie (Brenda T) hello Brenda! You ought to give it a try, it’s been so wonderful to have and it is nice to have a space that you know will have all the information you need and more. I look forward to making some pen videos soon!
This was the first video of yours that I watched, when I was truing to find feedback on chic sparrow before i bought one few months ago, but I have actually watched most if not all of your videos but i forgot to like them when i more than liked and enjoyed all of them. So whenever i have time, i'm revisiting them. I enjoy the honest, genuine aura i feel from your videos and your personality. Thanks for sharing your time and thoughts😘
Very interesting, a change from the cello videos. Not seen a fountain pen used in years, makes me want to get one now lol. Would like to see more videos for sure, so keep up the good work.
Oh, wow, it’s basically a purse. Now you just need to attach a strap haha. I have a Leuchturm diary, and I really love their products. So much space to write + some little bonusses that really make life a little easier. I’m definitely going to be buying a traveller’s notebook at some point in the near future. Thanks for the introduction!
Howard Stern brought me here. I love this, I'm getting one. I have many notebooks laying around that I habitually abandon before they even get half used. Thank you for being awesome.
This is my favorite TN video of all time. I love that you are enjoying your coffee in the morning sun. I also have the Lightning Struck Maverick and it is my love too. Mine has two tiny splash marks from dew drops that one of my plants shared with it - so cute!!! It's an A5 like yours and i have a Platinum Preppy 05 nib in the pen loop loaded with the stock ink. I am devoted to this $5 pen because it carries me back to the late 50s when I was in 3rd grade with a pilot fountain pen and lived my life with ink stained fingers and scraped knees year round. good times. More importantly did you hear about the E-class TNs that Chic Sparrow just released? No pen loop but they offer an adjustable pen loop that you can attach to a dashboard or whatever. You customize it to the dircumference you need to fit your pen.
I fell in love with the Maverick when i learned that the leather was from caribou. I grew up with water buffalo both domestic and the wild buffalo boys and girls. I got distracted and forgot to admire in writing your awesome felt folder. I just put it at the top of my happy to do list.
I really enjoyed watching your video---always nice to listen to how someone uses their TN and since I also collect fountain pens, your archive was really interesting to me as well! Thank you for sharing!
You’re so cool 😊 Thanks for the thorough look! The Tomoe River notebook dedicated to your fountain pens is a great idea. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna steal that 😉 Thanks! Joshua
Great Video. Love the chic sparrow ......I am going to have to look into putting something like this together. Would love to see a detailed video of the pens. Keep up the great work.
I just happened up on your channel while surfing and I’m so glad I did. I love your content and while I’m usually not into a lot of repetitious chit chat which is popular on UTUBE I love your style because it’s informative and fun. I feel as if I’m listening to an informed and interesting friend. I’m looking forward to seeing more. Thank you 👍
AdventureDenali You’re welcome. Thanks to you I am going out today to just the right fountain pen to enjoy writing in my journals. They say I have a beautiful handwriting script and I like to send personal letters to friends and family as well. Could you suggest an inexpensive but good pen to start with?
You have the most BEAUTIFUL travelers notebook/set up ever. I was always hesitant to get an A5 because people make it sound like its unmanageably huge, but I love how big and chunky yours is. Absolutely gorgeous! Loved this video, can’t wait to see more TN vids! 💛🌻
Tori Dooley thank you so much! A5 is wonderful, so much space to spread out. It is a commitment though and I’m discovering it’s nice to enjoy the smaller sizes too.
Your video popped up as a recommendation and as I'm watching you and your beautiful maverick you liked my Sunflower watercolor on IG!!! Perfect timing and had to subscribe 🥰
I love how you document your ink. So organized. I am currently using a B6 traveler’s notebook. I’m waiting for one I custom ordered from Leather Imagined on Etsy. It’s taking 4-6 weeks, which is a lifetime for someone like me with very little patience. Temporarily, I’m using a TN from Navie Travels. I’ve watched several of your videos. I enjoy them. It seems you use or have used several sizes. Previously I’ve used an A5 size TN from Planner Perfect. I have also enjoyed Moleskines. I used to be a Franklin Planner user also. I’ve never heard of Chic Sparrow until I started watching your videos. I recently purchased some Lindock pouches based on one of your videos. Waiting for them to arrive. I love how you love your journals and appreciate the beauty of your journals and fountain pens. My favorite fountain pens are the Brass Iraurita Pocket Fountain pens (I have four) and the Kaweco (I have 2 - white and mint). Keep those videos coming. Thank you.
Nannette Nagy thank you! I hope the wait goes quickly! That wait can be painful, haha. I hope it’s worth it. I’ve not heard of either TNs! Oooh your pocket pen collection sounds fun! I’d really love to try the Irautia pen
What nib do you have on your Twsbi Eco. I have a 1.1 and love it. Nearly 2ml of ink! Do more vids on your vintage pens please. I have 3 made in England where I live. All of them have gold nibs. Swan Mabie Todd from the 1930s, a Waterman's 515 from the 1940s and a Parker 51 from the 1960s. Latest squeeze is a beautiful new Jinhao 156 with a jade lacquer finish. I use it with Diamine Wine Divine with its gold glitter sheen. I am enjoying it very much.
I’m new to your channel and just started watching your videos. I’m new to fountain pens this year. I have 6 - 2 lamy safari, 2 Twisbi, 2 Visconti. I do like the Italian brands. I just watched a video on your collection. I just watched a video by Sarah Martinez on vintage pens. I just ordered my 1st vintage Parker duofold from late 40s. I’m waiting to get it. So excited. I plan to watch more of your videos and just subscribed. I couldn’t get a maverick a5 but was able to get an a6 and a pocket size. So sad they can’t do any more Mavericks. Although I shouldn’t complain because I have an a5 from a company in England.
I have a Travelers Company notebook and I love it. And I also started getting fountain pens. I want to buy a travelers notebook in passport size to use as a wallet one actually. I got a twsbi eco from gouletpens and it’s become my favorite everyday pen as well
Love ya! Wish I could get my hands on one of those Twizzbee Eckos! The hunt is on! I’ve been journaling daily since I was a kid, it took me 10 years to realize good pens made it better, 10 years to make my penmanship decent, now I’ll spend the next ten years figuring out Journal paper and fountain pen basics! Ennui in check. Thanks doll, you’re tops!!!
New subbie! YOU "check all the boxes"--Traveler's Notebooks, fountain pens, journaling, oh my! ;-) LOVE Chic Sparrow; I have all different sizes for different purposes. I agree with you; once you get into TNs, it's hard to remember what you did before. They are so versatile! Would LOVE to see your vintage pen collection. Looking FW to seeing more vids. :-)
Yeah it certainly was a beautiful cover! But, it wasn’t being used, I haven’t used this size in a very long time. Someone else gets to enjoy its beauty. :)
I am a huge bullet journal fan and I was sure that I was going to downsize to a B6 TN because everyone scared me that it would be too bulky/unrealistic to use an A5 as an every day carry. This video totally changed my mind once again and I really think I am going to go for it and get an A5. How do you keep the LT inside? Is it just on its own elastic or is it strung through the back?
I also have that Leuchhturm in mine. With TNs like this one you have two options for holding that big book. The video above shows a classic set up and at 4 minutes she holds the TN open by its two covers and dangles the contents. this TN has 4 strings like this 1 23 4. Her setup looks like she has the wool folder and calendar under string 1 and the other folder and ink book under 4; the big journal uses 2&3. Some people slide the front cover under 2 and the back under 3 but it looks like she open the book in the middle and slid the book under 2&3 so they rest in that middle gap that you can see at the beginning of the video. Another way to hold it is to not use the strings but slide the back cover of the book into the secretarial pocket on the back cover of the TN. Pretty sure that blue journal is her most precious thing in there so she's got it locked in with the two middle strings. Sorry for a LONGwinded explanation.
Love this! I've written complete journals on my before typewriter and I didn't know some of this! I never actually even took the time to learn how to type properly either 😅
You are a girl after my own heart! Journal, agenda, and fountain pen in a Chic Sparrow Maverick! I don’t know anyone else who has the same set up as me, (although I use an A6 size). I love your dedicated pen notebook. I may have to do that too. Thanks for a great video.
I watched this video quite some time ago but it must have left a unconscious imprint on my brain because I now own a B6 maverick, and I am awaiting the arrival of my tomoe river notebooks and fountain pen from Goulet pens. I also have wool felt to make a folder with. Love my maverick.
I love fountain pens and inks, but I don’t have any vintage ones yet. But the way you talk about them is the same way I feel about vintage and new guitars, therefore I now have to have a vintage pen, since I love vintage guitars 😅
And after 2 years of dreaming of this notebook, I finally took the plunge and purchased one (and found a narrow one second hand) *.* Thank you for the inspiration!
cool girl, how come i didnt know this channel? hahaha I am a tn fan myself, started out with midori tn, still use it when I travel (im out of country about 4 to 6 months per year, since I wrok with sports and international sports events) but truth is A5 is as small as I can get. So my everyday carry is an A5. I use it for everything, planning, personal, work and even journaling (although I have my own journal that I keep it at home) sometimes u got the urge to write and I use my A5 for that hahaha its weird cause I buy bags based on "will it fit my journal?" xD
I really need to understand the TN as a wallet. I've used smaller notebooks as a wallet only. I always wonder about those who use a working TN as a wallet (I also carry a lot in mine, including but not limited to restaurant gift cards, insurance cards, stamps, etc). I can't imagine lugging a large TN around as a wallet. Or, being in a coffee shop and running to the restroom - if I don't have valuables in mine (cash and cards), I leave on the table. How do you manage? Running into the grocery store - what do you do with it?
I have the A5 in Mr Darcy in toffee! I love your set up you have, I'm wondering about you 1917 do you have the elastic in the center of the book? I have a TWISBI 580 and I love it ,and diamine claret is one of my favorite ink colours!
I can't tell by the video how you have your 1917 journal in there lol ,is the elastic in the center of the journal? Or around the front or back cover.?...?Help me 🤗
Happy to have found you. Adventure caught my attention first, and Chic Sparrow notebook second. Fountain pen and all things journaling next. I don't own a chic sparrow but have 2 others notebooks, a pocket size by a German maker, an A6 by a Canadian. New to fountain pens and I will be happily enjoying your videos on them. 😊
You are awesome! I love fountain pens! I have a Travelers notebook as well. I use the “Wide” size from Chic Sparrow. (Slightly smaller than A5) Is there a fountain pen friendly insert that you recommend for the Wide Size?
Hi, Just found your site. I also love to journal a lot. I feel bad for my kids when I pass away they have to deal with them. Have journaled as a young person, as soon as I could print. LOL I too liked fountain pens and have been thinking about getting my pens out and running. Have not used them in a long time. Do people still use blotters. Sorry if I sound old, I am. LOL
Hi, a quick question for you if you'd be so kind - where did you get those pants/leggings whatever they are? They look SO comfy and the color is interesting!
Hi. I love this set up. I have been looking into to writing and keeping up with my ideas better. I was wondering if you still have this cover and if you could sell it to me. Thank you for the beautiful videos you have made. You have inspired me.
Great video!! Have you found a fountain pen that works best on Leuchtturm or Moleskine notebooks? I work about drying time / smearing when I journal. Thanks!
Try traditional asian / indian handmade paper it still has parts of the plants embedded even full blossoms.the most beautiful paper to touch and to draw or write upon.and smells like a meadow of wildflowers😊i think you can get it on amazon. Fountain pens are the rule in schools here in germany every schoolkid has at least one. They look like from harry potter 😎
What brand of pen would you recommend for a newbie who is interested in trying out a fountain pen? I used to use one many many, years ago and you've inspired me to try again. I just discovered your RU-vid channel recently.
No pen loops? I use expensive fountain pens too.. do you use permanent inks so rain or a splash doesn’t erase all your work? Should I not get the pen loop? Do you do any watercolor in your book? Great channel!
When I encountered your homepage I said whoah! she's very OCD with the folders for different categories. Then I see your talk on the traveller's notebook...theory confirmed! haha
I didn’t think you had! I’m just surprised one would observe me as being organized. I’ve never considered that of myself before. Honestly, I’d have thought the opposite! I’m glad though. :)
Do you or anyone else in the comments have any recommendations for faux leather/vegan traveler’s notebooks? I’d really love to take part in the hobby and Chic Sparrow has some beautiful products but purchasing leather just isn’t in line with my beliefs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Brenda_TV XD yes I know there are a few! To get started, if you look up “vegan travelers notebook,” quite a few pop up on Etsy.com. (www.etsy.com/search?q=vegan%20travelers%20notebook&ref=auto1&as_prefix=vegan%20travelers%20notebook)
@@adventuredenali Thank you so much for your help! Ive already added a few to my wish list & am looking forward to more of your journaling vids in the future!!
Thank you! I don’t know, that information may be on the Chic Sparrow website. I don’t have this cover any more, other wised I would have been happy to measure it for you. :)
@@adventuredenali hi thanks for your reply. Would you mind sharing your go-to travelers notebook? I just got the A6 size but I feel is a bit too small, what do you think of a5 size travelers notebook as for sketch, note-taking and everyday use?
@@MlleVB I enjoyed it! But it does feel a bit big sometimes. Right now, I’m really enjoying a standard size Traveler’s Notebook. It’s tall enough to feel large and spacious, slim enough to feel very easy to travel with.
For the wool pocket did you just sew the pocket on and make it the side of your notebook? Can you tell how you made it? I want one so much after seeing yours
I thought you were going to show drawings you've done on your travels. I have something very similar, I use it to draw when I'm out walking in the hills in Scotland. I use fountain pens with waterproof ink too. Not vintage, but a crazy japanese caligraphy one called fude nib. It's only £12 I think but it has an unusual nib, anyway...Thanks. I love to look at how people do their own journals etc.edit...I've just noticed a liked video oy yours, it reminds me, the fude nib is a sailor pen, I use the green one, I think there's a blue one with a different angle.
The Marverick has an incredible weight to it that I just love, and honestly I think makes it easier to fall in to place. They're just really different, it's so hard to pick a favorite. I love the Maverick for the weight of it, and the Darcy for the amount of wear it shows.
@@adventuredenali I just got my first today. A weeks. There's a wide on order. I posted my weeks on CS Fans because the markings are a tree with roots!
Hi! My favorite modern fountain pens are probably the Platinum #3776. As for vintage, every pen is really different and unique. I will say that in my own experience, vintage Parker pens have been the most consistent.
Hi im really into the concept of thick travelers notebook, but what's ur experience of writing on it? Is the thickness of the book makes it uncomfortable to write or draw?
At the time, I really enjoyed it and was so inspired, it never seemed cumbersome or uncomfortable. I did however eventually change to a smaller size and now that I have, it’s hard to consider going big like that again.
@@adventuredenali Hi, yep i also like a smaller size. Im using a A6 size now but i stacked 3 notebooks and eventually the uneven surface because of the thickness makes it write so uncomfortable. Have this issues ever occurred to you? Thnaks for the reply btw
Michelle Cagler hello! I sell pens on occasion on my Instagram account: AdventureDenali. Currently, I don’t have any for sale, but I highly recommend looking into Esterbrooks on eBay or Etsy. They’re a fantastic vintage pen. The ones made in the 1950s are reliable, durable, a pleasure to write with and easy to find. They average between $30-$60. They’re a great daily writer with a ton of different nib options.
Sophie Leah hi! I’ve never worried about it, but it just about never leaves my sight. As it’s my wallet though as well, it’s just natural to hold on to it. :)
