I bought a brushed slash and it never seen power before I upgraded the motor and esc. I finally pulled the trigger and got the low center of gravity conversion kit and now because of the low cg kit that was the final part before all the stock parts were gone I paid 300 for the car and now I have about 600 into it. It’s hands down my favorite rc. I have a box full of stampedes and rustlers and bandits that only need drive shafts and my slash is the only one I really car to fix
Just bought one, non-platinum, last week, have ripped on it almost daily and aside from the stock shock caps popping off after some brutal jumps the thing has been bullet proof to the abuse i've put it through. My buddy also picked up a 2wd vxl one and been doing the same stuff i have with zero issues, I upgraded my shocks to aluminum ones after i popped the cap off the stock shock for a second time. Crazy though how much abuse these things can take. Body is also slowly starting to die on me, but when you are constantly crashing and thrashing, what do you expect!
Hahaha they don't make body shells to last do they, my Senton shell only lasted just over a week but the car over all is amazing. Front skid plate issues but other than that and the shell it's an amazing car. I have the same amount of fun with it as the Kraton, difference is the Kraton is broken and it's always the drive train that gives. I definitely want to get a Slash one day, they're awesome. Got 2 arrma and an FTX, next on the list is traxxas... after I've built two RC river jet boats that I still haven't started making 🤣👍
I also have the stock slash with a few upgrades, i daily it a lot and i just keep breaking driveshaft carrier over and over and over and over 😂 and im getting tired of wasting my money on the im just going to upgrade them
These things are SO much fun! I bought my first one the other day and so far it's held up to what we've put it through!! Love the vidz Kev! Keep 'em coming! Thanks.
You certainly have put it through its paces. If you want to run that fast with a car you can not use a body like this that just parachutes all the time. These things are run as speed cars but not with the stock body. I have done many of the mods you have shown.
Crazy i beat my 4x4 and the only thing I haven’t broke is a drive shaft!! Probably spoke it into existence lmao good video my dude! Love the channel just found it and I’m hooked
Lol because of the slash videos I bought a Senton 🤣 but one day I will get a slash just to upgrade it along with the Senton to see which one is the best durability wise. Front skid plate I'm having issues with on the Senton and the stock body is way too thin but what a car bro. Backflips no trouble at all at the skate park
@@jamesperrine1984 maybe I should have got the 6s Senton Bro🤔 But I'm happy with the rest of the car other than front skid plate, the body shell and the barings. The stock 7kg servo died after a few runs so I put the 15kg out of my Kraton in there and it's all good. Chucked a hobbywing max10 120A in instead of the blx100 ESC🚀 but the rest is completely stock. It's only 9days old 🤣 Has any of the side walls on your tyres split at all? My rear tyres are not very healthy at all
@@jamesperrine1984 pretty sure the tyres are supposed to last a little longer than a week man. I've message the modelsport to see if they are under warranty hoping they'll send me new one, I only just bought the car I don't want to have to buy new already. But when I do purchase wheels and tyres I'll be buying those off the arrma Granite to give more ground clearance, give better air authority and cushion landings better. Also I'll be changing the shock fluid for thicker stuff, lowes grade I have here is 7000cps which is probably too thick but I'll give it a go then try to figure out the perfect weight from there. See I believe that with the right shock set up I can eliminate chassis slap and rebound on landing but it's means the suspension will be hard as nails so I may be sacrificing handling but that's fine, it's a stunt truck that I use mostly in skate parks, bmx tracks and anywhere I can launch the thing sky wards 🚀🌒
is it brushed, my 2wd was brushed and i never broke them and then i upgraded to brushless and the driveshafts got melted multiple times, i going to buy the steel ones
Ik I'm a little late but I just converted my lcg slash 4x4 to hoss shock towers and maxx body. I'm just upgrading my shocks now. I do another of the same driving as you do, what shock oil do you recommend?
Hey I’m trying to put the esc and motor out the maxx . It’s 4s 2400kv I’m having a hard time trying to find a place to mount the esc . I also have another 3 slash platinum that I have the mamba monster 2 2200kv mamba monster x 2200kv and a mamba monster x 2650 . It’s easier to mount the castle creations esc’s then the traxxas 4s
Yo Kev or ladies and gents. I'm looking for a basher body for my Senton. Apparently the body fitment of the slash and Senton is almost identical, same with the size (1/10 or 3s which you prefer lol). Trashed the stock Senton body within a week. Got a Killerbody coming in the post but I think I'm gonna smash that up too, so you see durability is what I need chaps. Any ideas for me? Peace 🙂👊👊👍
Center diff controls a lot of the wheelies, its nice. My only issue is the VXL motor is quite toasty on 3s. Controllable on 9/54 gearing, but its slow. I'd say it needs a an and heatsink for sure.
I got a ultimate 3 weeks ago. Day one skate park. Always used 3s 50c and Now my tyre foam is all unbalanced. So new tyres and driveshaft I should of got a xmax
Xmax has minor issues as well. When you get one you'll have some things to sort out before you truly have a tough truck. For example; day one with my xmax and both front and rear bumpers brake. They bracing is thin plastic. The real problem with this is that the rear bumper is connected to the wheelie bar so when it brakes so do your ability to pull wheelies. They're upgradable though so no biggie. I have to admit, even though I own and love the Kraton 8s and the Outcast 8s, I think the Xmax is slowly becoming my all time favorite RC truck. It truly is a beast.
That depends on the setup. Typically, having the most teeth possible on the pinion and the least possible on the spur is what people go for. On a stock vxl, the motor mount will only allow room for a 23T pinion with a 52T spur(54T is stock).
Gearing should come second to battery choice on stock setups. The velineon system can handle 3s pretty well, so go with a higher burst rating for a better "get extra speed" option. Changing gears out while using a 20c-35c lipo wouldn't really be worth it. Try a 100c 3s before messing with the gears. Both will cause the motor to heat up quicker but a higher discharge battery would liven it up.
