My cousin served his "apprenticeship" as a court appointed defence solicitor for just as long as it took for him to get into the branch of law that he wanted and was best suited to. He specialised in tax and probate law and was bloody good at it, and saved a lot of people's hard earned money going to the government. He set up his own practice and whenever I need legal advice he tells me which solicitor he would not want one of his people to be facing in court, and that is who I go to.

I spent thirty five years prosecuting various felons and attending court. Back in 1979 pre video link and even taped interviews and long before video recorders and video evidence, I was attending Melbourne Magistrates Court Vic. Aus. on another matter. Prior to my matter a person was called to answer a similar offencive language offence to what you mention here. The magistrate rolled his eyes when the defendant said he was not represented. In responding the defendant did not deny saying "Fuck" to the police officer. What he did say was " I say fuck all the time your honour. All my friends say fuck. Watch T.V. at 6.00 the same time as your kids are watching T.V. and you'll here more fucks than all the fucks I told this copper. He went on giving plenty of examples of where the word is used at the end of it the Magistrate who was now in a much less sceptical mood sums up with. " The defendant has not denied that he uttered the word which is the subject of the offence, however he has eloquently demonstrated that the word "fuck" is a word of common parlance and therefore cannot be deemed a word as referred to in the legislation." The magistrate arose with a grin and had a short adjournment so as everyone in attendance could gather themselves. The court was filled with raucous laughter and the poor young copper was fuming as he left the court thee was a humming whisper through the court "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck" BTW I am not a copper and never have been.

This is hilarious, me and my friend were sitting in a carpark once when a police car pulled in next to us, my friend was telling me about the AMPR system they have in their car and pointed it out to me, whilst we were mid conversation the police man done his window down and asked if there was a problem(in a rude manner) my friend replied saying he was talking about the equipment they have to which the officer replied “NO SHIT” and done his window back up. What a coincidence! One rule for them... the rest for us 🐷

I have never met a Solicitor worth their salt, apart from Property Conveyancing. Barristers are like Pure Gold, especially one who belongs to the 'Inns of Court' in London Bloody Marvellous people I wish you well in actions against all concerned in the original Trial. We don't have Justice in the UK, Justice being entirely a different matter to Law. Thank God some still know the difference

As an ex police officer with over 20 yrs experience I can feel your pain. Police Officers/officials now don't make nessicary arrests, they tick boxes and fill quotas. tackling real criminals is to much like hard work. The reality is that politicians created this situation knowing they will never be held accountable.

Evey time I defended myself in court things went well and the one time I used a lawyer it went to shit, I won on appeal though.
