My tribute to All Creatures Great & Small (and Robert Hardy aka Siegfried Farnon)

RIP Robert Hardy - Forever Siegfried Farnon to me (3rd August 2018)
As a child I was inspired by the James Herriot books, and loved watching the TV series 'All Creatures Great and Small' with my family on a Saturday night.
While on vacation in North Yorkshire with Deryl and our dog Toffee we visited the area where James Herriot lived and worked as a vet, and also some of the remote filming locations from the TV series, most notably the 'water splash' featured in the opening credits, and 'Skaledale House' in Askrigg the (fictional) veterinary practice.
Also inspired by the story of 'The Yorkshire Shepherdess' we visited Clive and Amanda Owen and their 8 children (#9 due!) who live the dream on their wonderful traditional farm 'Ravenseat' in the same remote area.
Very special and memorable moments captured here solely using a Samsung smartphone and edited using some clever features with iMovie. Music is from the original TV series of 'All Creatures Great and Small'

Hi from Australia and thank you for this. Beautiful landscapes. I have just finished watching the whole original series again. Loved it in the 80s and it hasn't lost any of its magic. Maybe I'll get to walk the dales there one day.

In Germany we know the serie as "Der Doktor und das liebe Vieh". Wonderful Characters and beautiful Landscape.🥰🤗

Brings back some really nice memories of our visit to the “Herriot Trail” a few years ago :). Nice bit of car tracking ;)

Many miles from from the nearest village I dropped Deryl off, drove away and back again to film the 'water splash' Deryl was slightly worried I might drive off and leave him there, as he had accidentally left our Nikon DSLR camera on a bus! We had to video it using an Samsung camera-phone! Luckily in this part of the world locals seem very honest, and luckily we managed to retrieve the camera, The school bus driver who kindly dropped us off to our car (having walked miles) actually returned the camera to The Yorkshire Shepherdesses house :)

Hi Thanks for the video, I’ll be up in the dales next week and I’ve got the villages on the makeshift tour. Could you tell me which road has that ford on driven through at the end ? Any info would be really appreciated Thanks Richard

Thanks for the comment. It was a few years ago but from memory I believe it was in Swaledale, between Reeth and Muker.
