When one hammer isn't enough, use two.

chunk of 4x4 wood and a cheap brass hammer you can generally get it really flat without deforming the material. I work with 14-22ga sheets like this and they're always destroyed. If you've got a box brake you can usually squish up to about 16 gauge with no major creasing. For what youve shown in the video you can even get some cheap vise grips weld some 2x3 flat bar and just clamp the hell out of it real quick and you can get by pretty flat.

The point wasn't to make it look better it was to make it flat enough to cut. In another note: really been enjoying your shitty comments (yeah, I can see the ones you made then deleted). "say something constructive or say nothing" applies around here. This is your warning before I drop the banhammer

Snap on sells the best body hammer, chisel end and a heel dolly (my go to dolly) That will do a much better job than the hammer used here

Not related to the subject at hand, but I see you run your table with water touching the bottom of your material. I've gotten conflicting opinions about that. Some say this gives better results, others say a small gap will give less dross or at least easier to remove while still cooling by way of the splash back. Have you tried it both ways? What did you find?
@42Fab
@42Fab 4 года назад
I notice no difference between touching and just under. I just fill it up so the 4-8 gallons that evaporate during a long day of cutting don't leave me too low by the end of the day. I've even overfilled to the point of barely submerging the sheet. The air from the plasma blasts the water away at the cut and I've never had to deal with it "farting" from under the sheet. I think there is a lot of "this one time, this one guy, at this one place, said this one thing happened, and now it's gospel" going around
@customhaines2510
@customhaines2510 4 года назад
The problem I was warned about was that if the water is touching the dross is quenched and becomes hard to remove. This came from a CNC table manufacturer. In any case, thanks for the answer.

@@customhaines2510 maybe, I haven't noticed, it's really only connect right at the cut edge if you're running your table right, so it all knocks off pretty easy with a wire cup

"I'm trying to explain while there's copyrighted music playing" - God, this just reminded me how evil and utterly broken 'murican copyright law is. And the copyright owners' lobbying bastards and all their equally malevolent cronies will make sure that it remains so for a long time to come.

People have the right to control their art, but fair use needs a "incidental inclusion" or similar exception
@CoolKoon
@CoolKoon 3 года назад
@@42Fab I'm not saying they shouldn't. But this is a clear-cut case of fair use and I still remember those ugly decisions where videos were pulled from YT just because something was running on TV in the background. Plus they never get repercussions for giving "false testimony" i.e. serving bogus takedown notices, which encourages the vermin to make claims at random and see which sticks. Once again, the system's broken in more ways than one.

@42Fab
@42Fab 3 года назад
would you rather see ads for video games or whatever else other people are running. It costs 10's of thousands of dollars to run a channel, when accounting for time that could be spent in the shop. Buying cameras, subscriptions, etc.
