After twenty something years, I return to my homeland Guyana. I lived there until I was nine, and my last trip there was in the early 90's. I had a wonderful time with family and new friends. We visited Georgetown, West Coast Demerara and Berbice. I especially enjoyed the tropical weather and fruits and hope to return soon.

Beautiful video! I was in Guyana in late May into early June of this year myself. Was there between May 25th to June 4th. It was my 7th trip to Guyana, all since early 2014. Of course, I was NOT born in Guyana, rather, I was born in the U.S Virgin Islands, but my beloved wife is from Guyana, Linden to be specific, though she spent most of her life in or near Georgetown. I absolutely love Guyana and ironically, it is for the very thing some people in the comments section are ashamed of. I get that some Guyanese people would prefer that Guyana look like Miami, New York, Vegas or Los Angeles, but it is that blend of an old world charm with modernity that captures my heart with the country. You see, though I was born in the U.S Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, specifically), I was actually raised on the island of St. Kitts where my father is from (my mother is from nearby Nevis). I grew up on St. Kitts when it was still part of the British Empire and I grew up in a DEEP rural part of the island. That era of my life has never left me. As a result, when I go to Guyana, I get that “throw back” feeling to those years of my innocence because of a “vibe” to the place that reminds of those years. So, when I see the horse drawn carts, old wooden buildings here and there and the bustling of the markets, I am taken back to a more beautiful time. This contrasts with what I know now and what I live in - a concrete jungle, where I feel detached, lost and unimpressed. I love the mixture I see there. I can drive past an old, charming wooden home and then come across some sprawling mansion not far away. I see late model cars sharing the road with horse drawn cars. I can walk into a little mom and pop store and then drive to a modern supermarket. I can go to Movie Town and feel like I am in Vegas or go sit on the Seawall and just enjoy a Caribbean feel. And let’s not mention to raw appeal of nature there. Guyana boasts flora and fauna not seen in other parts of the Caribbean. It is MORE than Georgetown and I always say, it is place where India and Africa come together to meet the Americas. I would recommend it to anyone who is not looking for blue beaches and strips of clubs on the beach. If you are looking for quaint, charm or are the intrepid type who is fascinated with large rivers, a deep sense of culture and adventure, Guyana is THE place to visit. If I had my way, I would live there in a hot minute. Oh, by the way, here was one of my videos about Guyana. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YAy8qyhldxI.html

An excellent analysis. Guyana is a unique and diverse country with a blend of modernity and rural charm. Georgetown is too motorised now and horse or donkey carts represent a traffic hazard. They are functional and have their place in the rural areas. Guyana does not need to be nor should be like anywhere else. However, I agree that people need to pay more attention to preserving the environment and diligent in disposing of their rubbish in a responsible manner.

This video was real, genuine, honest and truthful. I like the way you spoke about the positive & negatives without making it condescending.

I love how you present our beautiful country. Each country have their flaws. I am glad you are appreciative. I miss it. Guyana will always remain home. Somewhere to run to for relaxation. Love this video. I hope they don't develop too fast as well. 👍😊 It will certainly take away the beauty of freedom.

thanks, it's interesting to see a drive-around in Guyana. I was born and grew up in the UK, but spent from 1 to 7 years old living with my grandparents in East-Bank Demerara, and spent some time in Kingston with extended family. One thing I took back with me to the UK was the love of all those 'dark greens' in the lush forest environment. I often had to escape London to the countryside just so I could re-calibrate with a few days of greenery around me.

Perception is Greater than Con-ception ( a false view of something been told repeatedly, can be accepted as truth, or the illusion of reality...), do the Graspmatyx by Guyanist Dr. R. Yates. Eye fulljoyed watching the beginning of this video, most of all the voice of MadeWithGlee is very comforting. Disfortunately, many Guyanese are told, or taught what to think, instead of HOW to THINK. Lehmeh salay (for example), we are told, and taught in School, that Guyana is of 6 races. The so-called 6 races are Indigenous, Africans, Portuguese (1834), Indians (1838), Chinese, and Europeans. Why mention Europeans twice? Portuguese are of Portugal, and Portugal is in Europe. Therefore, who is the 6 so-called race? Should it be the mixed Ethnicities? Guyana is not of 6 Races, we are of 6 plus Peoples and growing. The truth of this miss-education of Guyanese is, the word Race is not a people, as Indian is NOT a Race. Race means to compete, sporting events, as car race, cycling race , horse race, track and field race etc. Guyana is of many Ethnicities of People NOT of the American xenophobic adopted Nazi Germany concept of Race of people. The so-called "white Race" has invented such social, political, and economical control and poverty upon many people. Eye was birth (not born) in British Guiana, left Guyana in 1977, to further my academical, and theological studies in the USA. It was the xenophobic Americans who told, and taught me, as brown as eye am, that eye am of the so-called Black Race. Never on my British Guiana Certificate of Birth it says eye am so-called Black. Eye have always wondered what the Americans called my very Dark Guyanese Cousins of Indian heritage? Guyanese of African and Indian heritages do have a lot in common, that was never taught as part of our School Curriculum. Africans and Indians are a Dark brown, or Blak (without the letter c) people of Original Muzik, Arts, Dances, foods, clothes, textiles, fashions, mathematics, most of all SPIRITUALITY, which is Greater than European/American religions. Racism is the European Caucasian Biggest Religion. Request the Documentary titled The miss-education of Guyanese by Guyanist Dr. R. Yates. We are often told that we Guyanese are One People, One Nation, One Destiny. Whose political propaganda that is? How can we be One people and were never taught in School, or at home each other's heritage language, Kulture, Origin before we were brought to Guiana. The Nation is called Guyana, the people birth here are called Guyanese, as an individual eye am a Guyanist (Guyanese is plural), the dialect we speak is NOT English, or Creole. England speaks English, DenMark Danish, Sweden Swedish, Spain Spanish, Guyana Guyanish. Why most Guyanese who are struggling financially daily, they do not own land. or a home, yet, they vote for politicians who have land , properties, and broken promises unto their Constituents. Why Guyanese students were NOT taught their Constitution at Primary, or Secondary Schools? As of 1997, eye returned home to Guyana 20 years after, just like MadeWithGlee. The politics of 1997 until now is NOT welcoming to Guyanese who desire to come home and tribute to our Birth-land without the prefix Con in the word Con-tribute. Eye came home with 20 years of experienced studying, working and living in 18 Countries. Introduced my mathematical invention titled Graspmatyx (just Google the word), and the politicians of the Government, then and now are NOT supporting in fulfilling the 2014-15 Campaign promised of Reform Education. The previous administration prevented the students, teachers and parents from learning how to overcome their apprehension, intimidation, or fear of learning mathematics, which is called Graspmatyx... for much more of such awareness, email docteryates@gamil.com Watch the RU-vid video titled ru-vid.com?search_query=Graspmatyx+in+Guyana Respectively, Graspmathologist Dr. R. Yates docteryates@gmail.com 592 693-3388

Public comments .when pledging elegance to another country base on duel citizens . A. You have to respect the principles the governs the law and its constitution base on factor the constitution stated clearly you cannot be a parliament member if you have a duel citizens .it's a violation of the rules .that is on lawful and disrespectful to all guyanese . equality for all guyanese is very important .everyone have the right to vote for who they think is a leader with a great vision . we all wants the country to do better and have a good governance and respect and accountabilty + check and balance . no negative only positive results .

*****GUYANA IS WHAT IT IS. ITS GREATEST POINTS ARE ITS NATURAL BEAUTY AND IT'S INDIAN POPULATION. THE GOVERNMENT IS AMONG THE MOST CORRUPT IN THE WORLD PEOPLE ARE REALLY LACKING BASIC SERVICES AND GOOD HEALTH CARE. BUT IF YOU WANT TO GO TO GUYANA FOR THE NATURAL BEAUTY AND THE DELICIOUS FOOD AND THE CULTURE IT IS A GREAT PLACE TO GO. I LIVED THERE FOR 9 MONTHS. SOMETIMES NO ELECTRICITY AND NO RUNNING WATER. LOTS OF MOSQUITOES. AND THE PLACE IS RATHER DANGEROUS. EVEN IF YOU DON'T FLASH ANY JEWELRY. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK AGAIN***
