New sub! I just turned 21 and am looking to go with Roehl and their GYCDL program.. can’t wait to start my journey & thank you for sharing the in & outs of yours !
They should have 3 day 12 hours option and pay for school for if the person wants to do something more with there life. And option overtime and unpaid times accuring. Paid time, and vacation like Amazon
I tried to do the north east regional thing when I 1st started but I couldn't do it. Not for me I found a job driving in the ports doing containers locally home everyday. Did that for few years till I contracted for the post office now I'm a usps truck driver.
Looking into trucking later down the road. Right now I'm certifying in cybersecurity that started before leaving Walmart, so the trucking will wait until at least June. Looked into Roehl and am loving everything I'm reading. If I end up not liking trucking, I have that to fall back on. Debating between OTR like my late dad or doing east coast (Marylander here). On one hand, it'd be cool to see the country and possibly be able to visit my bestie out in Oregon when I can and be down in Bama seeing family, on the other hand, east coast is familiar territory. Thanks for the insight into the work schedule. :)
Not sure if you still monitor this, but how difficult was it to get that dedicated east coast? I been on the fence about Roehl, for similar reasons as you described, being out 3 weeks at a time, but what you're doing sounds perfect for me. Thanks.
I sure do. It was easier at the time for me, but I heard people saying it was harder to join before I left. I like going home every week, so I won’t take anything that has under 48hrs of home time.
Hey, saw you at the conley terminal a week or so ago. I was to shy to say hi lol. I just got done with there gycdl program. So far im loving everything Roehl has to offer
I had the best experience because my trainer and I were on the same page with cleanliness, music, food, etc. But your experience could not go as well depending on who you have. If you go with a trainer make sure you tell them what you want from the start and they will let you know their expectations. Keep in mind, you can request another trainer if current one isn’t working out for you.
Can you explain the CDL class, training process, and solo training? I’ve been talking to a recruiter at Roehl and she wasn’t very forth coming with that. I’m trying to figure out if I get my CDL with them how long will I be out there until I finally make it home? She kind of made it sound like it could be about 6-8 weeks from the time I do the class to the time I get my own truck and get a load home for my first load. I’m wondering if I would be better off going to a private school to cut down on the time away from home. I’m in the east coast too and looking at the Northeast lanes dedicated. I wouldn’t mind running the entire East Coast but would like some Canada runs too.
Great video, I’ve been looking into Roehl and prime inc. definitely pros and cons of both. I like that Roehl has dedicated east coast routes I live in PA. Already spoke to a recruiter with both as well
Roehl's dedicated east coast is awesome. I'm on the kraft NE dedicated route and like it, especially the Drop hooks at walmart, target, family dollars,, etc. I recommend Roehl, but best of luck with your decision.
Hello fellow Pennsylvanian. I'm kinda in your boat, though mine is currently between KLLM and Roehl. I've heard quite a number of good things about KLLM and a lot of bad about just about every other company aside from Roehl. So we'll see who wins out.
My company has me in the east coast alot... trust me bro the east coast is the worst place to drive a semi, in my experience the midwest is the best drive
Hi I found your referal code- I plan on finishing cdl school in a week then ready to apply. Love your videos great information! Do you have to live in coast you choose? How many days off a week do you get each week? Also do you get a minimum guaranteed pay or mileage?
Yo, when you were running your si a few years back on exhaust, cai, and skunk 2 header before you got the tune did the car run alright and did u have issues with running lean or rich?
If you could, how much do you take home after taxes after a 60 hour work week approx. I work 40 hours a week as a machinist, I currently make $26.75/hr. My take home is around $750-$800. My wife and I have been thinking of doing trucking, but don't want to make the career change if the pay is awful. I understand if you don't want to share publicly.
I know all trucking jobs are different but i have seen some trucks say they pay 56 cents per mile. Plus bonuses and things like that. That i assume is on the low end. A buddy of mine says he makes 2k before taxes on a semi slow week and 2.8k on a slightly above normal week. Not sure about his work hours. Another buddy says he's on track to 95k a year. He started less than a year ago.
Me and my wife are new truckers and we have been driving for about 2 or 3 months and we have an account that is a dedicated run and we make almost $2000 before taxes a week each .. before trucking I was a machine operator making $700-$900 a week.
This commuter lot in town. I nose it in front of two cement barriers.. parking is a very stressful part of the job.. I’ve been towed once already, it’s not fun
Bro..can you spend your "home" time on any given week at any state/city you want (within your proximity). For example, if I want to spend a weekend in ATL, can I request my last load to be in GA? Do they work with you like that?
It definitely takes some getting used too. You get a 30 min and can stop whenever you need if you feel like your driving is being affected. Sometimes I’ll pull over and take a quick 30 min nap in the sleeper 🤣
Thanks my man . Great , short and sweet video. Starting with Roehl 9/26 in Marshfield. Excited and nervous but I’m looking forward to the training and career change . I’ll be National OTR. Stay safe
So your Able to choose weather you want to do OTR or what your doing even if your new? Cause that’s my whole thing I don’t think I’d like to be out 2 weeks at a time
You can choose dedicated, home weekly or national, which is 2 weeks out 3 days home. Being out for 2+ weeks sucks and I’m not a fan, but everyone has their own preference. I say go dedicated
Anything above 45 hours is sl;avery imo. I would only do 60 hours a few years take time off, or if im trying to raise money for a business/investment etc.
I hear that. I pretty much run 60hr weeks, but even that is a lot. Goal is 2-3 years, stacking money, investing, etc then onto the next thing. What do you do for work now?
@@TheGerbsteve i was a truck driver class B delivering oil. Studied programming 2 years then lied on a resume got a programming job 5 years ago for 120k. Just got hired by cvs as web developer for 170k. Btw got 2009 civic si here in Worcester.

What advice can you give me to start computer work, not sure what I want to do yet. Sounds like you have the perfect gig and have some knowledge
