After many many weeks, I have finally come up with the Ultimate 4231 V3. This will be the last Ultimate 4231 of this current game as I generally believe this is the best it can get. This tactic was tested with 6 teams and performed very well with all of them, even managing a PERFECT 100% win rate with one of the teams!

I would love to see you try to recreate Chile’s Bielsa/Sampaoli tactic. Think it was some sort of 433 with the holding midfielder dropping between the 2 CB’s and a F9 dropping into midfield with 2 inverted wingers going deep

Aside from my second season 38/38 wins, all other seasons have seen me finish second with tons of draws and few losses. And it usually gets me knocked out early in cup and UCL competitions

This is working incredibly well for me as I had back to back promotion and am now consolidated in the 2nd division of German football with a team that shouldnt be there. The only issue I had is that this tactic (at least with the low level players I have) seems to be struggling against weaker teams and thrive against stronger teams. In my promotion season I lost 4/6 games to the teams that ended in the bottom 3 places for some reason while winning 5/6 against 1st, 3rd and 4th. Does anyone have an idea how I could make an adaptation to the tactic when playing teams with bad players and presumably very defensive, counter-dependent tactics?

I started a save with Chelsea using this tactic Havertz advanced forward and Mount SS , havertz got 50+ goals in the full season all comps, finished top scorer in the prem😂 he was broken he played every single game of the season for me

This tactic worked perfectly with Galatasaray. Until the middle of the 3rd season I was an up and down team, even though I won the league in the first season, it was very difficult. In the middle of the second season your team started to stutter. I used this tactic for the first time in an away match and I couldn't believe my eyes, the team had come of age. Although my players were suitable for the tactic, they were not at the best level (Muslera, Van Hecke, Nelson, Toni Lato, Boubakary Soumaré, Torreira, Zaniola, João Pedro, Yusuf Demir and Lorenzo Lucca). It worked so well that in the second half when I started using the tactic, I reached the final of the champions league and lost to Barcelona on penalties. The next season I won the champions league. Of course, the tactic stumbled a bit in the following seasons, but I got a lot of efficiency.

Yes and no mate really, I still noticed us being sensible by getting the ball into the box and taking our time. But also had that element of not being afriad to shoot when in a decent area

Do you sim the season fully or holiday game by game so you can pick the team / mentality? If the former, do you let assistant pick the team as you sim? The Stevenage one is crazy. Really struggling to accept only one game dropped points!

So I pick the team and let the assistant sim the matches mate, I then check roughly half way through and see whos been peforming and make any changes that are needed. Honestly the Stevange result is not as mind blowing as what it seems, with the right Attacking tactic you can walk that league. The real stand out one for me was how well it done with cardif/palace to be honest.

Using it in Bayern Munich and it works like a charm. I’m averaging three goals a game and absolutely dominating all sides (Even teams like PSG, Chelsea and City). Only needs to sort out Stamina issues and it will be crazy good.

Good tactic. I hate seeing people on here moaning that it didn't work and blaming everyone but themself, I think what they need to realise is that they need to adjust and adapt a little depending on player attributes and team strength. I used parts of this for my Malaga and Sunderland saves, and changed it up a bit to fit my team and also exactly how I wanted to play. People surely get bored just copying the tactic exactly, surely? Part of the game is to make tactics, if you just did everything from a youtube video without making parts yourself then I dont see the point or appeal in playing. Good work mate 👍

Started a new save at Toronto FC in the MLS. Only lost 2 league games all season. Won the NACL, League and Leagues Cup. I did make 3 important signings during my transfer window but this tactic dominates the opposition in possession, shots, goals and of course the overall results. Amazing tactic Josh.

I'm using this tactic on my real madrid save, and my team almost invincible! Finish that season with 192 goals!! 133 goals on laliga (3.4++/match) and my top goalscorer is osimhen with 69goals 🤣 Got a treble that season but missing out on ucl (lost the semifinal to liverpool) Gotta say beast tactic mate 🔥🍻

How can I utilise the height of my striker with this tactic? I use Ludovic Ajorque, he got the golden boot last season for me because of his headers, jumping reach and physical attributes but he isn't getting as many headed chances with this tactic. Is changing the crosses to lofted the only way or do you know anything else I can do? Also, surely you don't want to prevent short GK distribution, because in a high pressing team you want to be pressing their defence and not lower down the pitch? Another thing, if I told my wingers to hold up the ball, would that be better or worse as the full backs would have time to get up the pitch for those runs to the byline?

In the normal version, the defenders appear to have short passes in the player roles, and standard pass in the midfield and beyond. In the defensive version, all the players look short-passed in player roles. Is it true ? Or will all players be short-passed in the normal version?

Won the treble with rangers first season and won the quadruple 2nd season including the champions league. This tactic works so well. My career with Beşiktaş in Turkish Premier League ended with triple (League-Cup-Super Cup) for the first season. My striker Vincent Aboubakar scored 50 goals total !! . Also my right wing Rachig Ghezzal made 27 assist !! .That's insane

The first tactic is to go into the game with mate and the attacking is for when your a goal down and need to get back into a game mostly, or even possibly you could use it from the get go against weak teams :)

For people expecting to go mid-low tier team in the higher leagues and then complain when they get battered or concede a lot with this tactic. Let me tell you: this is attacking mentality, highest intensity, wing-back using, no central midfield defending role tactic. Use your brain and adapt the tactic to your team: change mentality and change roles accordingly, try using fullbacks, try changing one of the CMs to DM or BWM, put one of the flank attackers on supp, lower your defensive line, disable overlaps, use trigger press a little less, or tempo etc. Isn't the beauty of FM adapting your tactic to your personal team and likings? This isnt a plug-and-play or copy paste tactic, it's something that works on average well, but that doesn't mean you cannot tweak it. It's very nice that Josh keeps trying tweaks to build the ultimate 4231 so use it but add the right context based on your team! I've seen personally that attacking mentality is usually very risky, sometimes even for the 'best teams' and that just moderating your tactic based on the opposition strengths (e.g. quick attackers, sick passers, tall defenders, physically top players) goes a long way.
