Some of you are being very dense in the comment section talking about how much money JYP Entertainment made this year because no where in the video did I say JYP is gonna lose money or that their groups aren't gonna sell millions of albums. I said the groups are not gonna be as relevant compared to others in the kpop industry which is exactly what happened this year besides twice and stray kids INTERNTIONALLY. Pretty sure some of you know ur ignoring my main point though and are just trying to take my words out of context. I don't really care though please stay mad. Either way follow me on insta! And yes I did delete some annoying comments, it's my channel I can do what I want instagram.com/planetminjae/

I actually have the opposite opinion. I don't know why, I just have the feeling that JLoud is gonna have a very friendly sound within the korean general public and they are gonna put JYPE back in the game. Actually, during the survival show some of the songs that they performed were songs with 90s/2000s vibes incluiding their original song "Get Loud" and that was before A2K trend. I'm aware not many people is waiting for their debut aside from people who watched the show (which wasn't that much) however I have always believe that when people does not have expectations from you then is your best chance to show everything you can do and I think JLoud is gonna do that. Hopefully they will let Yoonmin produce the music, I find the music that he has done so far very friendly towards everyone so basically that's my prediction for them and they are a JYPE group as well, I know they are gonna do a great job 😊❤️
@jorgeesco8739
@jorgeesco8739 Год назад
Aside from JLoud, I think Twice's sub-unit has great chances to perform well just like how Nayeon did it with her solo. I know MiSaMo debuting is South Korea is risky but I think JYPE is gonna taste the waters throught NiziU korean debut, if NiziU is well accepted despite being a full japanese group, then MiSaMo is gonna be well accepted too. Something people has never talked about MiSaMo is the risk of debuting the sub-unit in Japan, people think that debuting in Japan is better because it has no risk however I do feel it has one risk which is the anger of korean onces. K-onces were complaining a lot about Twice giving priority to the japanese onces over the korean ones, particularly when Twice offered 5 dates for their Halloween event in big venues in Japan while the korean one was gonna be in a small one. If MiSaMo debuts in Japan, I'm afraid of k-onces reaction
@jorgeesco8739
@jorgeesco8739 Год назад
Talking about NiziU, I wonder what's gonna be the reaction towards their korean debut. The announcement already generated divided opinions but if jype does a really good job then I think NiziU might have a chance to be accepted
@jorgeesco8739
@jorgeesco8739 Год назад
In other words, I do agree about your predictions for Itzy, NMIXX and Stray Kids. Itzy has always been very irregular within their music, NMIXX is a experiment that the company is still shaping and they are learning with every comeback, Stray Kids is more focused internationally and will keep growing there. However I do think Twice has a chance throught their sub-unit, at the end of the day they are still the JYPE group that always perform the best, with the right promo their sub-unit can do really well. Finally, JLoud and NiziU both have chances to do well, NiziU's korean debut might be controversial but the company can use that to fuel their potential.

I agree with a lot of your points, though I think that Twice bring less “shiny & new” in Korea is less relevant to their overall success, as they are bigger than ever across the World (I’m in the US, btw). Korea is one small country that is exporting artistry, and like the British Invasion of the 60s, or the New Wave of British Heavy Metal in the early 80s, the groups waned a bit in the UK, but became (And remain) huge across the world; I’m talking about Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, who are all still massively popular, 40 years later. While I’m worried about NMixx surviving, I’d like to point out that Itzy is also very popular here, and abroad, but I agree that they (And Aespa, and GIdle) will have to up their game, as you mentioned.

@takenononsense Год назад
stayc got attention from being bep's first gg after he created so many hit songs for other artists, and then their debut song happened to be catchy and public friendly. but they were just a general public, not their own core fan base. it's why building core fan base in early days are important. the first 2-3 years of a groups is important for that. just because a group have a successful year and few hits, it doesn't mean their popularity will last if they don't build the core fan base. it's what lots of company missed. they'd get a good amount of view and chart rank and think "of we'll make it", but no. public will move to another groups when they get interested and forget the previous. meanwhile if a group have a strong core fan base, even if they didn't do well with general public, they'd still earn more money than those who was up in the top charts. and as idol industry is still a business, more money means more success. as cruel as it seems, that's just how it is.

2023 is going to be crazy for TWICE but maybe not in Korea. TWICE is positioning themselves for a big push in America and if history repeats itself they will see a lot of growth. The world tour is going to be one of the highest grossing tours in girl group history. Since the contract renewal is done the promotion schedule is really going to pick up. Twice is known for coming out of nowhere with a mega hit. There’s no telling what they are going to do next.

I think Aespa and IDLE are safe tbh. Especially IDLE. They have Soyeon who understand each members strength so they don’t have to worry about having a bad concept or title track to affect their careers. IDLE has been growing and growing, consistently proving themselves, they didn’t just explode in popularity this year. I’d be more worried for some of the rookies/newbies who birthed into popularity this year. They are young and reliant on the company for everything so things could easily go south if the company doesn’t promote them correctly or gives them a bad song. IDLE is self-reliant, they’re safe.

I actually think the group from boys planet will be successful. I believe the reason Kepler is struggling is because they debuted along with tons of other girl groups that just so happened to overshine them. If they debuted when not as many ggs also debuted I think they would be doing better. The new bg though is going to be one of the first boy groups debuting with attention in what’s going to be considered a more open house. As long as they don’t get terrible music I think they’ll be much more successful then Kepler

GIDLE would not fall next year because data say the otherwise. GIDLE and NJ are the only 4th gen ggs with more 'distributed' popularity in terms of listeners and album sales. IVE and LSRFM fans concentrated in JP and SEA while they're not that popular in US, Europe and LATAM, While GIDLE and NJ fandom rose in every country by the time i wrote this, both even have more followers in Middle East than any 4th gen ggs. In terms of album sales, current GIDLE album sales are even better than Lesserafim. Let me explain, GIDLE and LSRFM has sold 800K album in Circle chart, but GIDLE sole more normal version (about 700K) than the digipack/jewel version, lsrfm OTOH sold 800K but 400k are digipack version (cheaper one) GIDLE also have more buyer in Europe and America region So, revenue wise, GIDLE > LSRFM So, my prediction is there will be 4 pillar of future 4th gen: GIDLE, NJ, IVE, aespa I don't think LSRFM will be big soon because most of their fans intertwined with NJ fans A.K.A Hybe Stans, so LSRFM more likely would be overshadowed by NJ.

I mean yes but i think when ppl say new and fresh they mean within the current atmosphere lol. If everyone else is doing modern concepts and someone does something y2K or more old school then yeah that’s new and fresh. And most importantly, unique bc it isn’t the norm or common. I respectfully disagree with JYP falling. Maybe in terms of musicality, sure but it's a bit more unavoidable. But popularity wise, I think they'll be doing fine. Twice already cemented their legacy in SK and is already popular in Japan. Now they're expanding more in worldwide. As for ITZY and SKZ, I think they're just fine. As for NMIXX and XH, they're still a bit new, and they need time to grow. As long as they keep releasing music, I guess popularity wasn't that matter. I mean these days the market is so way more competitive compared to few years ago. With 4th gen groups are on a race of overtaking each other, it's just a nature that older 4th gen might 'fall' a bit. But imo, JYP groups are doing fine in 2023. I don't see them falling that hard.

Both were something new and refreshing especially tomboy since it started at the start of the year. Throughout the year ive seen songs follow the pop punk theme and im not noticeably saying they were trying to copy tomboy, we can clearly see how successful tomboy was and many groups were wanting the same thing. Idle has always had a very popular arc throughout their career so them having a downfall right after their most successful year kinda seems almost impossible especially with Soyeon always hinting and working on new albums for idle.

I definitely see a fall in Jyp's groups. Although I don't think you should've added Twice to the list. They're basically "seniors" to every group there since they've just renewed their contract and are now the longest lasting group out of Itzy, Nmixx and Stray Kids. Twice have done very well in Korea in the past and their new goal now is to expand in the west which is perfectly fine. Twice will never flop since they've made such an impact in the kpop community!! Twice saved Jyp and I think it's the others groups direction that's dragging the company down. I believe Nmixx and Itzy's direction is going somewhere for sure so there shouldn't be any worry. I believe that the reason Stray kids does so well is because not many bgs debuted this year. I'm not a bg Stan but typically I think a bg will always do best whatever company they come from since they're very praised. Jyp is probably marketing highest off of Stray kids rn. Poor things. @wywrd_mtnt My comment wasn't really about Stray kids, it was more about jyp as a whole. I think that they've done everything they could to support Stray kids since it's their only bg and priority ( like how a single child is treated considering that's their only priority compared to multiple children). As I said, I don't Stan bgs and I'm only a gg Stan but I do know that stray kids is pretty popular like txt. Twice and Stray Kids are the company's biggest money producers since Twice is focusing on the US now and Stray Kids is dominating as a big bg in Korea. Stray kids doesn't have a lot of competition compared to Nmixx and Itzy bc of new debuting ggs. Stray kids is fine and so is Nmixx and Itzy. Jyp may not be as popular anymore due to the fact there's so many groups so the competition IS BIG. I don't think there will be a 4th gen leader for ggs tbh.

I also think the timing on those releases was bad, Twice came back during some of the more trendy gg’s releases and Itzy’s Cheshire was just at an awkward time of year with minimal promotion. The only song either of these groups put out that was “bad”/controversial is Sneakers, and that one actually charted the best, so I don’t really see the correlation. 1. I dunno... Aespa I think will GAIN popularity in 2023. SM let them chill in 2022 while the girl group blood bath started and now is almost over - so people are mostly over the hype of a new girl group. 2023 might even be Aespas busiest year. They already have a slot of upcoming content besides their upcoming comeback + colabs. The black mamba arc just ended, it's easy for them to have a concept change or concept evolution because even story wise - it would make sense. They have a solid fan base in Korea, now after promotion - more international audience know of them. They also got into games. All they need is a strong comeback now, which is exactly why SM pushed the comeback to 2023 in order to prepare well. Aespa has the strongest base in Korea so they will be good. 2. My prediction for 2023 is that Billlie will BLOW UP. The Korean public knows of them, and Billlie has good music and very skilled members. I personally think they are the strongest group in 4th gen. If they have a chance at a group survival show like - Queendom... I'm certain of the fact Billlie will gain huge popularity. 3. I think people will get sick and tired of y2k concept cause everyone's gonna do it. That might even cause New Jeans to have a concept change and that kinda will put them in hot water tbh. 4. I see nmixx, Ive and Kep1er struggle. I'm scared that nmixx might even disband - unless they change their concept. Ive is most popular cause of Wonyoung but their music is okay-ish (apart from Love Dive) so I can see people losing interest in Ive the moment they lose interest in Wonyoung... hopefully they won't cause Wonyoung and other members work really hard. 5. SM new boy group will have a concept connected to NCT but they will still be very different in concept, and music style . I think they will be insanely popular, especially Shohei and Eunseok. Seunghan will be the hidden ace - the strongest member (I say this cause SM always hides the talent of ace till debut and Seunghans talent is most hidden for now). Shotaro will be the cutest leader in the history of SM and Sungchan will go into acting, bringing even more popularity to the group.

Disagree with the ive is only popular because of wonyoung. The debut of ive had 150 k first week sales. Quite good but in comparison to other gg not so good. For example le serafim had 320k first week sales for their debut. If wonyoung is the reason ive is famous, how can it be that their first week sales for their latest comeback were over 990k. There shouldn't be such a rise when the group is only popular because of one member. Ive is so extremely popular at the moment because people like their music. you are correct! technically Y2K literally only refers to the year 2000 but it's understandable that "Y2K style" draws from the years around it. but once the style of the late 2000s comes back we will need a different word for it.

i'm worried 4th gen girl groups will have no actual fans. Everyone is bouncing to the newest group in six seconds and that's it. 3rd gen actually had is STILL HAS hardcore stans that will support them if an album or song flops. If one of these newer groups flop for even a second...it's over for them.

the thing that messes up aespa is their management because their company doesn't really promote them at all, so if SM keeps that shit up, yes I agree aespa will struggle. But they will release their first full album, so if SM promotes the shit out if it, I believe they will rise to the 4th gen top again

- IVE, LE SSERAFIM, & New Jeans are completely different in concept & musical style. Like COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. As such, I can stan all three of them happily with zero comparisons quite safely. If everyone else could do that...well wishful thinking, lol - JYP....well, Stray Kids are self-produced so their talent & chemistry will sustain them. Itzy is still my OG bae 4th gen gg & I bop to all their songs, but their producers need to step up those title tracks if they want to compete with 4th gen. Not really invested in NMixx or Twice but best of luck to them both

Happy New Year Juice! I hope MCND will do moderately better in 2023. In terms of K-pop in 2023 it will be a unique time seeing so many Girl Groups competing for your attention 😂 (YG as well 😅). I always don’t engage in fan wars but it sucks the people who engage in K-pop see it more than me, I just watch the groups in RU-vid and like see their vlogs, go to twitter and watch fan accounts posting cute pictures of K-pop groups, I don’t engage or follow hate groups. Boy groups from established companies will do fine for the most part. JYP in particular is doing well sales wise but chart topping it’s been nonexistent but the fandom doesn’t seem to care too much. I would like to see more companies let artists write songs and be a part of that process, SKZ have been creating music and their efforts have been paying off well. It’s not guaranteed all artists are capable of writing but they should be allowed to be given a chance more often. Alright that’s it so far thanks for reading 😊. Peace

i always considered stayc middle tier tbh for the sole reason they don’t come from big 4, they were never expected to rival say itzy or aespa, yes they built themselves up until they got their 1st win with stereotype, it’s obvious that beautiful monster didn’t receive as much love as their previous title tracks but then they came with poppy and despite being a japanese title it became really popular, if they can come back with a korean title similar to poppy i think they will manage to regain their popularity, and i think they will do something similar so i’m really not worried about them, maybe they’re not at the very top but they’re successful enough. i’m worried about aespa especially since i personally didn’t enjoy their lastest comeback at all including the very much loved illusion, combine that with the fact that they haven’t made a comeback since they really are fading into the background, they obviously are still successful and popular but i don’t go out of my way to listen to aespa anymore. nmixx was never general public friendly so again i’m not worried about them, i’m sure they have found their audience and dice was even more loved than their debut. stayc will maintain their success, they might not have a major breakthrough but that’s hardly considered a major decline imo

The oversaturation of groups in general has been tough and yes everyone will struggle, but it's also a way to force everyone out of the covid fog of complacency and really fight for their spots, so I'm guessing 2023 will be the year of nonstop hit after hit and I'm kinda excited for it

I'm inspired to make my own version of predictions so I'll leave it here for anyone interested: 1. First the genre I expect to make a comeback next year is house music and all its diffrent subgenres... I'm basing this prediction on the success of Beyonce's Renaissance, the queen is always ahead of its time a trend setter and kpop loves a good house beat sooo 2. Second I expect another solo debut for twice (precisely dear Jihyo). I also expect the group to comeback stronger with a more refined and well polished album and have another breakthrough moment ... one thing about twice they Can always bounce back and ttt was something laid back intentionally as they were in the middle of a hectic tour and they just wanted to offer their loyal fans something ... 3. I expect the boy planet bg to do 10x better than kepler cause I think (I hope) the company learned from their mistakes and will have a better promotional plan and better music 4. This is more of a hope than an expectation, I wish itzy management team have a clear plan and a specific direction to make these ambitious talented girls follow I hope we see them given the right type of music, they deserve the best. Thank you for this video Minjae, and happy new year ^^

I think we're going to see more stories of idols coming forward with regards to their working conditions, especially as Omega X's lawsuit progresses. While I think we're really far off from idols unionizing (as Kevin from The Boyz joked about), we're definitely going to be hearing about companies trying to clamp down on their idols to prevent any mistreatment from getting out. But as you said, tons of idols this past year have taken hiatuses or left the industry due to poor mental health, and I think that no matter what companies do their shit is going to come to light eventually.

The last few comebacks have been downright disappointing, especially compared to the great songs they came out with in the first few years after debut. 4th Gen groups (and beyond) may not struggle, as such, but I think the current scene is designed for impact and not longevity. These kids are being shot out of a cannon, absolutory carpet-bombing the marketplace with hype as THE hottest new thing. But here's the thing - if your debut song racks up 10+ show wins, and you sweep award shows in your first year, exactly where do you go from there? When the vast majority of your identity is that you are the hottest new thing, what happens when the NEXT hottest new thing comes along? "The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long"... and you're going to start seeing that become part of the plan going forward.

Also fan wars I have never got caught up in a fan war before. I plan to try and not end up with one bc I support a lot of groups and I love it when groups collab with each other (same with soloists) I also don’t mind the Y2K sound. I think a lot of them this year were good overall and I am excited to see it continue next year. I also wanna comment on when he talks about how JYP groups will decline. Hopefully this doesn’t happen but from the way he talks about it it sounds inevitable. It’s very disappointing to me and I hate this a lot. I respect your opinions about JYP, but I will kindly have to disagree. TWICE, ITZY, and SKZ have very loyal fan base that they won’t flop even if they don’t go viral. XDH and NMIXX are nugu groups, but they can grow just like twice and stray kids who didn’t have huge success or fan base right away when they debuted. They definitely need better promotions too. On the other hand, NiziU will be debuting in Korea, and I bet they’ll be in a running competition with the other girl groups. NiziU has done so well in Japan and have a huge Japanese fan base, so even if they don’t do well in Korea they’ll still have the sales and possibly gain more international fans. Also, JYP is debuting their new boy group from the survival show LOUD along with a Chinese boy group in China. Although, I don’t think the Chinese boy group will be as successful, they both have a lot of potential. One thing for sure is that JYP entertainment needs to give their groups better songs and/or produce better music. For JYP groups, they’ve always done better when they stick to a certain concept or create a new wave in music. Hopefully that happens for JYP group this year. I think they have a higher possibility of doing better this year than last year actually.

@@joe-fk5ud I’m sorry if you’re offended by the term is used to describe NMIXX current situation. I tried to use a term that would describe both XDH and NMIXX on similar situations. Although NMIXX is not entirely nugu, many people don’t know all of NMIXX’s members and their music/concept. For me personally, groups can still have fans and popularity, but if people’s interest in them is low and they’re not really seen or considered in the scene, then they’re more on the nugu side for me. Rookies would’ve been a better term to use, but when I commented this I didn’t consider them rookies anymore as they had have won awards, and are no longer eligible to be considered for rookie of the year (this year at the end of 2023) since they were nominated this year (the award shows in 2022). I feel like the only thing that might prevent the massive brewing war between BlackPink and BaeMon fans is if we get to see the two groups interact and form relationships like how BTS got to do with TXT and maybe even help them with their music whether that be just sitting in on their recording sessions or even assisting with lyrics (if they're allowed to). But I feel like that might not happen because like many, I also expect BlackPink to be quiet this year except for fashion events and modeling opportunities, meaning they most likely won't ever be in the same places to interact. So all in all, I'm worried for the health of the two fanbases. And also, SOMEONE GIVE LUCAS HIS CAREER BACK.
