I have some mixed feelings regarding this mainly when it comes to groups from bigger companies. Cause I know it’s not fair to expect complete perfection and god level vocals from anyone. However, I’m also getting fed up with the big companies and some of their groups, that with all the resources in the world. They are still having artists more underdeveloped than those from a smaller company but yet still receiving all the awards and praise. Like I have empathy if they are getting hate for one or two bad vocal stages where they’ve might’ve been nervous, recovering from being sick or something. But if nothing actually changes and they keep singing off-key, off-beat, in the future, that empathy will run out since there are talented artists who aren’t getting the same opputunities as them. Yet they’re getting all the awards cause they are from a big company and popular seniors, pre-debut hype, high budgets, etc… To clarify tho that dosen’t mean I’d be okay if they were to receive big amounts of hate but it just becomes the thing of ”I can’t and won’t defend you anymore, if you can’t prove you actually want this and value this oppurtunity”. Sorry this got a bit wordy but I have a lot of thoughts about this…😅
While I don't think I-land 2 was rigged, I do think it was quite unfair how some very talented girls were not shown much time! Yuju, Yui, and Gyuri, do not get me started of Gyuri. She was so talented and carried her group many times. "After Like" with Fuko, "Like ooh ah ooh ah". "4 walls" as well. All though I agree Fuko and Sarang did well, Gyuri just stood out so well to me but no watcher acknowledged it because Mnet never gave her screen time till the end of the show to make a plot. But everyone already had their first picks and no one would change, would they. Gyuri was an amazing teammate and while there was a part where she was being selfish, like everyone else, she gave up parts for the girls who didn't get many lines. Mnet NEVER gave Kim Gyuri screen time and I was really disappointed because I was with her since the first episode and I always saw she tried her hardest and did her best but never got the recognition she deserved.
kang hyewon is honestly iconic lol. she always tried her best and i think she did pretty well. she fulfilled her job in the group perfectly. she's not soloist material and thats fine cuz not everyene is. im glad she's into acting now, shes good at acting!
