MY Unpopular opinions on Mini Bikes

I have ridden all sorts of bikes (Under 1000cc) and I have formed some options about the average or common person who wants to "Ride" a bike. With the emergence of mini bikes, there has been a lot of attention taken away from "scooters". Scooters are the original small displacement common man's bike. I mean look at the Honda Super Cub, yes it was a semi-auto but the walk thought design screams scooter.
All I am trying to say in this video is that there are a lot of reasons to buy a scooter and there are a lot of reasons to buy a mini bike like a honda grom, z125, monkey, and more. Don't take what I say as any kind of rule but more of a "take away" from having to talk to a lot of people over the last few years and advise on what they should start on or start back on.

Id have to agree with all of your "unpopular opinions". Scooters are very underrated and very easy to ride/maintain. Having said that, if i were to buy another one, id limit myself to the small end of the spectrum like the zuma. But it would for sure be a 2nd bike for me.

Super fun , easy to ride, and if you get a big bike your gonna want to keep the scooter for short runs around the area. I would assume a BUSA would suck riding in traffic.

Yeah once I got past people making fun of scooters/mopeds and just do whats best for your life economically..etc you really love these little bikes. Zuma 125 is my first one too so great intro to them

Even if you get a bigger bike , the utility and fun of the scooter you can always go back to.

I have a 49cc Ruckus & an HD Ultra Classic. Have owned a Harley now 53 years & am a known rider not a weekender, poser or pretender. Because I am now age 70, 900lbs in town fighting local traffic & stop lights with a bad right knee is no fun at all especially in the deep South where summer weather is above 90*, humid & the heat off the concrete raises the temp to above 110*. I have even rode to the HD dealership on a Saturday event to pick up a part with the parking lot teeming with mainly Harley Owners & parked. Because I look & act like an old biker, the weekenders just looked & pointed. I laughed at them.

I have a 2022 Ruckus stage 2 plus a performance carb that will cruise my 220lbs at 45/46mph top at 50/51. The Ruckus is my go-to around town errand ride & just plain fun. I have also owned a Harley for 52 years & currently have an Ultra Classic which is now only used for Hwy riding or if the wife decides she wants to ride with me. Like you previously stated, 800lbs of bike is no fun in town traffic for an old biker. The heat off the engine during summer weather & continually shifting in town traffic makes it a chore instead of fun. Because I am retired & almost age 70, I added a rear carrier & will strap on an HDX 7 gallon box on back lugging groceries while placing a 30 pack of beer on the floorboard of the Ruckus. LEO's look funny at me but have yet to pull me over. When asked by buddies why I bought a small scooter, I ask them "remember riding a mini-bike when you were around 12 & how much fun it was" ? Then I tell them that the Ruckus is my adult version of that mini-bike that is street legal & actually more fun. Then I tell them it gets 100mpg & is an automatic, no shifting used for nothing but around town. But if you are concerned about what people will think & how cool you look, buy a Hog & Pose as Kool. If you want to enjoy a ride like a kid again & scoot all over town parking anywhere wearing a t shirt shorts & sandals, a scooter fits. I did pull alongside a guy flying color today riding a Road Glide in town. When we were stopped at a light, I looked over at him & asked if he wanted to race & grinned.

Definitely agree. My scooter reminds me of being age 11 on my old briggs and stratton mini bike...but its street legal and hauls stuff.

@@robcampbell3235 I was 12 & had a Briggs & Stratton motor on the mini-bike I shared with a brother. It was the most fun I ever had riding until the Ruckus. Now I zip all over town & have become far more infamous than I ever was riding a Harley.

I love my ADV 150. I have a pimped out Grom, but ride my ADV 150 far more. The ADV 150 is just far more versatile and is just all fun, no work. It is also far more capable. I even use the ADV 150 for moto camping because it holds so much gear you don't have to feel like a pack mule with tons of gear on your back. It mostly fits under the seat. I even have extra room to bring luxury items on my moto camping trips.

Couldnt agree more. I have a honda blackbird, a harley t-sport, and a zuma 50 2t. The zuma is ridden 3 out of 4 times. First gear on the bird tops out at 60 ish...kinda a pain when you want to run errands.

Mostly Caesar I started riding again because it's a hobby of mine plus I like working on automatic bikes and upgrades them!

bro, that's such a mild opinion. I love all two wheeled modes of transportation. I can't believe that people are giving you crap for riding a big bike on the freeway or on the track... but this is the internet so I'm sure there is plenty of negative comments.
