If we're going to talk about the signs, chances are high that the guy also likes Gumi. It wasn't specified in the song who the girl was so it's possible. First, he told her that he started to like this "girl" while walking with her alone. And it seemed like they always walk home together. Not to mention, he even called her during midnight??? No way he just even called her only to ask for an advice. I think he simply wanted to hear Gumi's voice.
