And I think there are a lot of people who don't realise that there are fees taken off every sale on eBay. Not to mention the cost of buying packing materials, shelving, racks, and/or bins for storage, camera equipment (for those resellers who do RU-vid too), taxes etc, etc. The list of expenses is very long, plus you have to have enough money left over to live off of. It's also a very time-consuming job. Definitely not 9 to 5. People do this because they love it, but they need to earn good money from it too. Otherwise, what's the point.
@@debsmith2269 We need camera equipment even if not on you tube, background mannequin lights photo booth for small items, photo software etc. time to crop & adjust photos ;-)
@@debsmith2269 Many don't realize all that goes in to reselling, as you pointed out...the time, the packing materials, platform fees, listing, shipping...
It's just like any other business. Can you imagine if people knew how much Walmart pays for an item. They don't think about all the cost on top of that. I think when there were more independent farmers and small businesses more people understood this. Now everyone works for someone else and have no idea what goes into getting them their check.
I didn’t miss any videos either. I enjoy all the things, discriptions, shopping you do. “Do we love watching a Lavender Clothsline video? Yes we do!” ❤
Congratulations on your first Van Briggle & the Roseville & other pieces, too! WOW! That was so exciting! 15:07- I think you can get more for the cranberry glass pitcher. Cranberry glass is usually more valuable because the cranberry color is made by adding gold. It’s usually made in smaller batches because of this very reason. My former husband is a stained glass artist & has taught me a lot about glass over the years. I am fortunate to have some beautiful stained glass pieces in my home! 😊
😂no way are those baskets worth what he's trying to get for them! I love how Roger picked the first basket out of your hands and put it back on the table
@@susanpriddy740 I have a friend who loves snowmen. The figurine had a snowman’s face dressed like a witch. She would have no problem displaying it in her Halloween decor. 😊
The egg piece.. that is used for when you pull eggs to use (cook) that this is like a spoon rest but for eggs to dispose the shell or for the egg to sit in until cooked. I have several.. they do come in handy especially around the holidays.
Oh my goodness-a Van Briggle at Goodwill! I have been collecting VB for years and actually have this style in two glazes. A short story-I found one in the color you found and had it a few years. My Mom was going through my Grandmother’s things in our attic and found another one in another glaze-it sent chills down the both of us-we felt my grandma’s smile upon us ❤
I don’t know were I am,ah Roger you made me laugh.I hope you got home okay. Thanks for taking us along, even in the dark,to let us see how hard you have to source your items Karen.🥰🌺🌺
12:14 thank you for bringing the van Briggle to our attention. I’ve never heard of it so I looked it up and verified what sales well on eBay will be keeping an eye out for that here in North Carolina thanks again.
Yes the Van Briggle is in Colorado Springs Colorado we have lived here for 28 years and I can never find yet all the resellers in the east find it all the time LOL I just think it is funny
The Kong is a slow feeder - not missing anything! Put your pup’s food in the Kong, set it on the ground and he/she bats and rolls it to make the food come out the hole! Fun game to keep pup busy and stimulated.
Oh my goodness, who would have guessed you two nice typical people would be “those” crazy people with flashlights in a dark field at a flea market!😂😂😂 More power to you! You mean it when you say,”Go out and get what is yours.”
As you were walking in the dark with y our flashlight I was sleeping...made me wanna go to bed just watching the video. Enjoyed it though and I want to Thank You for sharing your day!!!
That's a Kong Wobbler. You put about a quarter cup of kibble in it and dog will figure out if they roll it and bop it with paw or snout kibble falls out of the hole. Our Aussie figured it out right away and we give her one sometimes when we want to make a stealth departure without her. Just be sure to adjust meals so they don't put on weight. That looks like the same size we have for our 45# girl.
Oh my gosh, Karen, that "Jesus Never Fails" sign is very old. I have the exact same thing, given to me by my father, who got it from his aunt. The date written on the back of mine is 1934 with a sticker from Little Bit of Heaven. There was one in Michigan. I got so excited when I saw you pick it up! I love shopping with you two.
My area Goodwill's have been separating sets for years, very frustrating. Most Goodwill's allow one cart only per customer. You are both lucky and spoiled. 😅
I've been tempted to travel from Virginia to Renningers. I sell on eBay too. Thanks to you, I won't be wasting the time or expense. At those I prices, I don't know who their clientele is, but it won't be me! 😂
Does it drive you crazy when vendors try to guilt you into buying their overpriced items? I don’t like going to flea markets when the vendors make me feel sorry for them? I like going to the type like you have where there are centralized cashiers! Love your outfit today and all of your videos!
hI Karen! I saw your videos last Wednesday and last Sunday. My question - what happens to items at an Estate Sale that don't get sold. Does the family have to decide what to do with it. Sometimes I see things at Goodwill and think that they came from an estate sale. What do you think?
In my experience, the items that were left over from my mom’s estate sale were donated to different local thrift stores (I am not a fan of Goodwill, so I do not donate to them). It was up to us, the family, to decide what to do with everything. This was how the 4 different estate companies I interviewed handled the left-overs, but I don’t know if every company handles it the same way. I would assume though, after my experience, that a lot of unsold estate sale items get donated all at once to Goodwill. I am sure Karen will know more than I do! Great question, Diane! 😊
500 AM is ungodly ....ahaha. Roger deserves a very steep discount for doing the lifting at 5 AM. I love your depression glass omg never seen that before. My favorite couple like peanut butter and jam.
Love your content! on the purple egg holder - I have one and I use it when I am baking and I need the eggs to become room temp. It keeps them secure on the counter and not roll off to break on the floor!
Laura Caldwell is in thePacific NW, where Myrtlewood comes from. She picks up a lot of pieces. I've found a couple pieces here in NC over the past year. Beautiful wood.
Saw your videos while you were on vacation. Thank you for your hard work & planning to keep pace with the video releases while on vacation. Looked like a great vacation place!
I watched a video from Goodwill recently, showing us their warehouse and business systems to sell high quality items, that have been donated, on their own Website. They showed their computer system, inventory system, identification and authenticity system etc. etc. They mentioned in that video that they are not in business to cater to the re-seller, but rather want to sell to the end user and that is the basis for their pricing policies. They prefer to part things out and make maximum profit on those items, rather than sell cheaply in lots and have the re-sellers then part them out and sell. It was an interesting video.
@@gann719 Probably. I used to re-sell 25 years ago, and it helped a great deal for me to save for retirement, so I get where Karen is coming from. It is more about maximizing their profit of course, as with any re-seller.
I believe that basket is an apple basket or a garhering basket. It could be 19th century but youd need an expert to really date it. Id have been tempted by it too, its a beauty!
Hi Karen! Glad you liked Jake’s…that is a pretty good one and can be a bit overwhelming! The 25 cent sale I go to is right down the road from there. Literally about one mile south! I think the beautiful basket was a gathering basket for herbs or a market basket. Definitely would have been a stretch getting more than $170 for that on eBay I think. But as a long tail seller you may have been able to set your price at $250 and wait. That guy with the $500 painting was CRAZY! Renningers regular sellers have gotten a bit too big for their britches!
I love this store! When you find small depression glass tidbit trays check them out. Some ofnthe handles make them very desirable. Especially the smaller ones. Van Briggle is usually always makes. Old Roseville will sometimes only have an R and some isn't marked. There is some fake roseville too.
I did have a hard time finding your last video. I kept checking and even went to your channel to see if somehow I missed the feed. But it wasn't there either. As for the ceramic egg holder, I use it to distinguish my boiled eggs in the refrigerator. Thanks for the video.
I got excited when you found the Brickell vase cause I saw the Teco Pottery right there. I saw the previous video when you told us what it was and how much you got for them.
Oh geez...I used to get up at 4 AM and travel without a phone all alone on the turnpike to go to Adamstown (where you are). It took about 1 1/2 hours. That was in the early 2000's. Haven't been back in years! Not missing anything! More fun at thrift stores. The people where you are have more folks and primitive stuff and very expensive.
Myrtlewood is on the west coast….Oregon. It really stands out when you see it. So when you picked it up, I said “Myrtlewood” before you read it. Lol ❤ VERY expensive flea market!
I saw you in AMI but I waited for your tour of the island .. I've been there can't wait to go back .. I'm not a reseller just like to thrift .. I purchased one piece of pottery for a souvenir thrift item
I saw 2 vacation videos. Nice place. How many did you post? I just get notified about new videos each time I log on. I might see 9 notifications and get to 3 in a day if lucky. I agree they should try to sell a set of dishes in a bundle first, then break it up if not sell in a couple weeks. I see a couple listings for this disney set. one plate for sale $20 + ship, 4 plate set $48 + ship. Only 1 sold slightly different in blue white $48 for one plate.
****ATTENTION**** KAREN & ROGER Some GOODWILLS in your area are doing the 1/2 off on AUGUST 17th which is this Sunday. Check your location for their time.
